Quentin Tarantino Presents "Hostel"

I am. The only thing I'm worried about is the fact that they're pushing it as more of Quentin Tarintino than Eli Roth. I must be the only person in the world that doesn't think QT is a god. Unless he's working with Rodriquez, I think his stuff sucks.

I think the "So-And-So Presents" business is ridiculous. I've spoken to many people who believe that Wes Craven directed Dracula 2000. It's dishonest, and it bugs me.

And frankly, I don't care if Elvis is presenting this movie from beyond the grave. Cabin Fever was an affront to the history of the motion picture. Hostel is going to have to get stellar reviews to draw me in.

But if Tarantino could present Elvis from beyond the grave I would admit to being impressed.

Regardless of how you feel about either Eli Roth or Tarantino- you have to realize that slapping Tarantino's name on a movie is a guaranteed way to get people to watch it. Look what happened to Hero... you think mainstream audiences would've gone to see that if they didn't think he was involved with it?

I personally really liked Cabin Fever, and if by doing this Roth gets more people to check out his film, i'm all for it. It might be a little misleading, but it's only slower people that are getting confused.

Is an affront to the concept of exaggeration.

And attaching anyone's name to a film, as Alex mentioned, is purely marketing. Last time I checked making films was still an industry where the end goal was to make a little scratch...

'Hostel' still looks like an amazingly shocking flick and should outrage more than a few people out there. Which is enough for me.

Add me to the group who really enjoyed Cabin Fever. I like Roth and am looking forward to Hostel, but something about that trailer just doesn't work for me.

Coscarelli beat him to it.

That's because Coscarelli is an underrated demi-god.

Who arte these people that casually discuss DRACULA 2000? Why have I not met them?

And as for this, I'm amped about the Takashi Miike references and tonal homage. Anything to bring Miike to America.

Do you guys think Takahashi Miike will ever direct an American film?
I´m pretty sure he´s gotten some offers from Hollywood.
Why should Miike come to Hollywood? I've been wondering why people are always hoping foreign director's to make American movies. If they make good movies in their homelands, why try in Hollywood?

I agree, having a director leave his country and go to Hollywood can really ruin your career, just look at John Woo.
Although it would be interesting to see what a Takahashi Miike film made in America would look like.

Who is Takahashi Miike?
Takeshi Miike's dyslexic brother?
A finalist for the new Korean James Bond role?
Eli Roth loves blood and breasts. Tarantino loves himself. I'm going to see it, but I wish QT's name wasn't attached.

This weird Tarantino backlash is probably the dumbest thing I've seen on these boards in a while.
An Eli Roth 'backlash' is much more justified since this movie is worse than Cabin Fever.
Awesome. Can't wait to see this.

I don't think the word redundancy is in CHUD's vocabulary.
Who is more hated on the Corner?
Eli Roth or Quentin Tarantino?
I vote Eli.
Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone post that they wanted Tarantino to get testicle cancer, so I'd vote for Roth.

Of course, that was before they all descended upon Dread Central so they could start discussing the best rape scenes in history.

While I like horror, 'Fever' wasn't my cup of tea and I felt - as I have about a couple of cult flicks that got raves around here - that it was overrated.

However, far be it from me to say I can't see why some like it.

'Hostel' doesn't interest me (much - I'd be lying if I said there wasn't a grim bit of interest in my mind I'd rather ignore) - with or without QT's name attached.

Do I think it's dishonest? Meh. If you like QT's stuff (including pics he's released like Hero et al) than his name means there is a good chance you'll see something that you like. If you dislike his stuff, then you know there is a strong chance this will also be more of the same.

And finally if you go to movies blindly based soley on names attached to a poster or comercial, without any thought to plot, subject matter and *gasp* forming your own opinions based on what you find out and then are horrified, offended or upset....

Well, there is a little 'you get what you deserve' there as well....

It's a cheesy credit but it doesn't offend me. Like someone said - more power to Roth for getting a few more asses in seats. Not mine, but still....

There's a button called "Search". It's up at the top of the forum. You can click on it and search for things. What a magical modern world in which we live!

Russ linked to all four of them above. You even quoted the same links in your reply. It's not rocket science.
