Best edition of Night of the Living Dead?

I was planning to pick this up on DVD, only to find that-presumably as a result of the fiasco with the original copyright notice-there are any number of competing versions of the film, including one that was-gack!-colorized. Any guidance you can provide as to which one is the one to buy would be appreciated.

The best are the Elite versions, either the original THX (painting of little girl on front) or the THX Millennium Edition (gravestone on front).

That's the one I have, and I heartily concur.

The one I have that in color also has the B&W option. ALSO it has a commentary track from Mike Nelson of MST3k.

Honestly it isn't a good movie. Sorry to say but nothing really happens between the moment they get to the house, and the moment the try to leave. The last 20 mins are good however, but the rest of the movie is filled with character I just wanted to see DIE. The lead, Ben is the most likable, but in the end you realise he is a IDIOT! He spends the whole film bitching about the cellar being a bad place to stay, and in the end where do He have to retreat to and survive. That's right, THE F'ING CELLAR!

In 1968 i'm sure it was new, and exciting. But today, I can't see how anyone with a straight face can say any Romero movie is even remotely scary. I give the guy credit for basically creating a genre, but his praise ends there. None of his movies are in the top 3 zombies film IMO. Dawn of the Dead '04 is so much better than anything he's done.

Let the flames begin.

Ben was alright, Harry Cooper on the other hand is fucking unbearable.

Me too. Avoid the 30th Anniversary Edition at all costs. And if you ever see John Russo, make him bite the curb for that.

That's the kind of statement that gets people stabbed repeatedly.

I'm sure you'd love that, since that's the only reason people post diatribes like that on a forum; I hate to disappoint you, but I plan to ignore you from this point and move on.

You remind me of the kids from film school who wouldn't watch films in black and white. They work at Red Lobster now...all of them....forever.

Either that or making original movies for the Sci Fi Channel....
I would say that Matt lost a huge amount of credibility with that little remark.
