Cowboy Bebop Complete Series

A 3 disc set bought off of Ebay for £9.99 ($17.99).

I'm gonna guess it's all kinds of illegal, but where do I stand legally if the item I get is just a collection of DVRs if the seller hasn't stated it in the product description.

Chances are, if you bought something knowing pretty much it was illegal, it doesn't matter if the seller said it was illegal or not. You're still buying illegal merchandise.

Nuts.

Drunken Ebaying skewers me again

Oh and anybody want a copy of Cowboy Bebop the complete series?

Didn't you also start a thread about getting cases for these DVD's? It seems you got shafted all around. I guess the price was cheap, but nothing beats walking into an electronics store or going to a legitimate online seller and getting a nice, new, shiny package of a movie or series you like. There's a reason you pay for what you get. Series can seem expensive, but for all you're getting, it's generally worth it. Mark this down as a lesson learned. You paid a small price for it.

Indeed. The cases thing was when, hungover, I had the foolish notion that these may be legit.

Bah.

Ebay be damned

If only buying 26 (i think that's how many sessions there are) half hour episodes didn't cost $150 retail (6 DVDs, $25 each.) Not that I'm excusing any bootlegs, but that's a rip off.

I picked up a bootleg copy from ebay about 2 years ago. Theyre rips of the dvds, pressed on silver back dvds, so theyre at least better than store bought dvd-rs. Mine also came in a nice 5 panel digipack. The guys I bought them from obviously put alot of work into them. The quality is pretty good overall, aside from the odd amount of grain in the cg shots.

Chances are, if they dont show a pic of the actual product your buying, its a safe bet that they are dvd-rs.

Guess bootleggers love the UK's new extended pub hours.

That's always been the usual time we get home from clubs. We usually stay up til five so we can digest the kebab meat.

Look into Half.com I got my complete set of Cowboy Bebop for about 20 bucks, it's 3 DVD's and the case and everything looks damn good...so I say try that, hell, I even got my set of Hellsing for the same price and it also came in a nice box set and even if the DVD's are copied, I can't even tell since the quailty is great and the DVD's have stuff printed on it.

Oh my god, sorry dude. That is truly awful. Again, though, it was only $17; be thankful for that. The Remix versions are out now, at $20 a pop on amazon.com, I don't think that's a bad deal, really. I was thinking about getting them soon myself, if not for some philisophical changes in my life.

Or just wait for Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, where an entire series can be on one or two discs. That's not too far off.

BTW, Peter V., your 3 disc set, that's a bootleg too. The "official" series has never been released that way.

To be honest I'm beyond caring. I'll give these to some of my less rightoues friends and buy the groovy 6 disc set from HMV or wherever...but for now...i bare the burden of being a pirate...Jackie Chan and the Govenor are gonna bust my skull in any second...

That won't matter. Look at Trigun; The VHS and the DVDs have the exact same episodes each, even though DVD can hold more than VHS. It's the American companies that are ripping anime fans off, and no new technology will change that.

It could be a chinese release, although I don't know how "official" that is either (since it's probably region free). Like This. That said, does anyone know the legality of these things. It certainly seems like a good deal, which probably means it isn't kosher.

The ebayer is gonna give me a refund...which is both awesome and bizarre
post #16 of 16
I bought Dungeon Siege from a guy on ebay who said it was "brand new". I got just the game CDs in a dinged jewel case. I emailed the guy and he said "It was new but I refunded your money anyway." I took that to mean they "fell off a truck". I wonder how many more times I can use "quotes" in this post.

Anyway, I'm glad you're not getting ripped off, and am now merely disappointed.
