The Thing: Videogame

Just got this on the cheap and the 5 minutes or so I just played are making me somewhat hopeful that this won't be shit

It's pretty good.

It wasn't anything special. This coming from a Thing fanatic.

The part that pissed me off so much is that no matter how many tests you do on your people and how you take care of them- they'll still turn on you. Doesn't make any fucking sense, and kinda kills that whole aspect of the game.

The story's ok, but that's about it.

Yeah, it's nothing grand, but it's worth five bucks. It plays pretty fun.
Well, have to agree with that... it is a good game to pick up cheap.

Worth it just for frozen MacReady!

Kind of a Half-life wannabe. But if you're a massive Thing fan it's worth the purchase. Keep in mind you might not agree with the devs take on the story, and creature itself.

This game had a lot of potential and it could've been great with a little bit more polish. There's lots of stupid things like your teammates not freesing outside, even though you do, the blood test is completely useless, except that one time in the beginning and there's so much ammo all the time, that it takes away all the tension from the game.

Agreed with all. Perfect it ain't. But in no way shape or form is it a disgrace to its license.

It's probably one of the best licensed movie-to-game titles out there, really.
I'd say King Kong has it beat.
um...ahem?
One of the best.

Do you people even READ anymore?
I think it's fairly obvious we DON'T, Mr. Smarty Pants.
I know. Why did I even ask that question?
Good game. Only problem I had was the controls, targeting with the flamethrower especially. But I figured it out and had a grand old time with the game.

Which, considering how bad most movie-to-game games are, is not saying much.
"The Thing"(the game) was enjoyable.certainly well above the usual crap tie in game, but not memorable. I doubt I will replay it. I picked it up for Ten bucks at the Bargin Bin, and got my money's worth, but would have felt cheated if I had payed the original 40 bucks for it.
A friend of mine informed me that the "Catwoman" game is even worse then the movie. I shudder at what that game must be like.

I'm still trying to make out what you mean; 'The Thing' has nothing in common with 'Half-Life'...Please explain.

You run into an alien invasion, you kill aliens, bad dudes show up that are decked like Swat members. You kill them alongside the Thing for half the game. The whole thing was lazily setup. The premise could've been more Thing inspired. Taken more focus tension and survival horror instead of action thriller.

I don't recall fighting back to back with the Thing, but that would be fucking awesome.

"You got my back on this one, buddy?" "SKREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
Well, that would be awesome, but I meant to imply the whole three sides wage war on each other concept.

Just don't give me the making love scene after they fight off the soldiers together.

Well, it CAN take any shape.

I'm smelling a whole new direction for the franchise.

Beverly Hills Thing!

Kiss Kiss, Thing Thing!
