Where to purchase other region DVD's online

My apologies if there's already been a thread devoted to this...I did a search but didn't see anything.

Anyway, I recently got a region free dvd player for Christmas and was just wondering what the best website is to order other region dvds from. Any help would be much appreciated!

Euro, horror and exploitation:

www.diabolikdvd.com
www.xploitedcinema.com

Hong Kong:

www.dddhouse.com

Korean:

www.koreandvds.com

Japanese:

www.cdjapan.co.jp

For an exhaustive list of almost every retailer on the web, check the sticky in the international dvd forum at DVD Talk: click here.

Wow, this is incredibly helpful. Thanks a lot guys. I have a feeling the dent in my wallet is going to be mammoth.

I was going to start a thread about this. Are all of these sites reliable? How are the prices?

I used to use DVD Price Check a lot. I haven't used it lately, but it wasn't bad.

It searches for a movie in whatever region you want and lists the prices of the different places that carry it.

Two other good resources are www.dvdcompare.net, which offers a comprehensive list of the various features and drawbacks to discs from different regions and http://www.dvdbeaver.com/film/compare.htm which features extensive screenshot comparisons of the different versions of some films.

Neither site is complete by any means, but I always check both before I buy a disc I know exists in multiple regions.

They each have their quirks, meaning it takes longer to get your discs from some of these sites because they are out of the states, but I have had good luck with the following, never any problems.

dddhouse
yesasia
dvdasian
hkflix

yesasia, dvdasian, and hkflix are in the states, so you usually get their shipments faster, depending upon where you live. dddhouse has the best prices, but they only have hong kong versions, yesasia would be next, and they offer quite a variety of films, along with all kinds of other import shit. I use them most of the time. hkflix and dvdasian have a lot of european releases also, not just asian films. You can also try amazon.co.uk.

Just ordered up Hard Boiled and Killer: Unrated from hkflix. Only 35 bucks. Nice to finally upgrade from my shitty VHS versions from ten years ago. I nearly went crosseyed at the selection of flicks at these websites. I've got a lot of catching up to do. Pray for my bank account.

Best site I've ever used is still ebay. And I've bought from almost all the stores in this thread. Most sites will stick with one release of a film, sometimes one release from a few different countries. Ebay seems to have just about everything depending on when you look.

So the best advice I can give is to punch whatever you see on a site into ebay, and you'll almost always find a lower price, nicer edition, etc.

I'll add http://www.dvd-basen.dk/uk/home.php3 to that list. It compiles DVD reviews from lots of sites (CHUD included) and it has a handy search function.

For Region 2 releases, play.com and cd-wow.com are both great. The latter also carries other regions. I've used both a lot, they're often very cheap and fast with no delivery fee.

Related question...

I've been going back and forth on using this site sensasian.com for a while now, but the prices are so low on certain stuff and the region codes are generally 0/all that I've always assumed they're bootlegs.

Anybody else know about this place, 'cause I don't want to support bootlegs but I don't know of any local places to import DVDs and being broke as hell makes it awful tempting sometimes.

I've used yesasia, DVDfromKOREA, xploited, hkflix, and I'll even throw amazon uk into the mix here because they have some stuff that you could potentially want at decent prices (Fail Safe, The Descent, etc.). All of them have been good to me.

Just ordered 2 copies of the complete Spaced series from Xploited, come to papa!

On a side note, was this a limited release? Because it's sold out, basically everywhere else.
Not sure about the limitedness (is that a word?) of Spaced. I got mine from Amazon UK, actually.

Hot damn, I just ordered it on Friday and I got it today! Whooo! That place rocks!

The Nick-pimped Jeff Bridges flick "The Amateurs" is availabe internationally here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...UTF8&s=gateway

Cheaper here: http://www.play.com/DVD/DVD/4-/93074...s/Product.html but I don't know if they will ship outside of the UK.

Play.com unfortunately ships only to European countries.
