I have been devouring the Spenser books since October or so. I picked one up at my local library and just fell in love with 'em. So, my parents picked me up this box set for Christmas. I would've liked to see the TV series but it's still not available yet. Subotai gave me an idea of what to expect but I didn't find them as disappointing as I thought I would. The first one, Ceremony, is the best and it seems like they get further and further away from the books in each movie. I thought Judas Goat was the worst of the movies. It was just boring. No wit and not enough action. A Savage Place was ok. I was expecting worse after Judas Goat. I thought Robert Urich did ok even though he was past his physical prime. Avery Brooks is awesome. He's the most interesting character whenever he's onscreen and he sells every line, no matter how over the top. He's a hell of a presence. Why have I only seen him on 15 Minutes and Star Trek? Anyway, I was just wondering what more seasoned Spenser fans thought of these movies and how they stacked up to the TV series and the books. Chat away.
