The squirrel started it, and tried to use juicy fruit gum to get rid of the mole, but since that's just an urban myth, the mole retaliated and fatally wounded the squirrel, but sadly lost his own life in the scuffle.

Was it a mole, or was it a Vole? Was it on surface or down in a hole?

Was it a symbol of war's weary toll? Do those who survive battle still retain their soul?

Isn't that just how they roll?

Charles Manson hospitalized...

2017's really coming out swingin' for the fences!!!

That's comes nowhere making up for 2016.

Nothing will make up for 2016, but if 2017 is going to set its sites on scumbags instead of all my childhood icons.... I'll take it.

I'm trying really, really hard to stay good and not start coming up with lists of suggestions.

Does Death do overtime? Because only 365 days to mow through the world's scumbags is a tall order.

The amount of scumbags who work themselves up into a froth of rage and hate, when they clearly are not in any kind of physical condition to cope with it long term, gives me hope for this year weaning out a LOT of fuckwits.

I'll settle for skimming some off the top.  Yeah, there'll be plenty of street level dipshits still standing, but maybe strike some old testament fear into them.  I'm personally hoping for the adult members of the Westboro Baptist Church to explode and only leave behind little puddles of green slime.

I get so much joy every time I hear their kids have abandoned their parents and that cult.

I think there are some safe suggestions... Duterte, Kim Jong and Putin come to mind.

And I'll just stop there...

I don't want them to die violent deaths. I want each one of them to realize they're stone cold gay AF and have to deal with that for the rest of their lives.

Bollywood actor Om Puri, who also starred in Hollywood and British movies like City of Joy, The Ghost and the Darkness, East is East and The Hundred-Foot Journey, has passed away.

Holy crap, the dad from East Is East! Worked in a movie theater around the time that was released and lost count of how many times I saw the trailer for that.

RIP

The contrarian work leader from The Ghost and the Darkness!

Given the craggy nature of his face, I thought he was much older than he was. RIP, OM. :(

Om Puri was great.  I've seen him in a couple of Bollywood movies and the guy was the real deal.

One last punchline from a hilarious lady.

Formosa Cafe has closed. No, it's not a person, but it was a pretty famous landmark in L.A. It's even in "L.A. Confidential." It's where Russell Crowe grabs the guy by the balls and where Guy Pearce calls Lana Turner a hooker.

Well, here's one for the "means nothing to anybody but me" pile, but he's an entertainer, so the heck with it. Minneapolis-area folk musician/children's entertainer Jack Pearson (not that one, this one) passed away the other day after a sudden and brief struggle with lymphoma. I grew up with his music because my parents knew him from the youth ministry at their church back when, but beyond the personal connection he was a legit talent - a goofy, wry singer/songwriter and one-man band. Here's to you, O "song-strummin' storyman." I'll be playing your stuff for my kids years from now.

And 2017 claims what will certainly be its oldest victim, the "Tunnel Sequoia" that was driven through in countless films and shows. It was older than the United States.
