Snipes Watch '08

While his tax convictions are appealed, Snipes will be allowed to leave the country to do post on Gallowwalker and to film a new movie, Chasing the Dragon.

According to the prosecutors, he's a flight risk. Obviously, they've seen Passenger 57.

Check out the picture. Awesome I say.

Anybody have any word on Chasing the Dragon?

I need to give END OF DAYS another viewing. Remember it being pretty fun.

Oh man, check out that Snipes beard!

Snipes will be in England about three days this month for post-production editing of "Gallowwalker,"

Where?! I'll hunt him down, I've got nothing better to do this month.
I'd love to see an END OF DAYS directors cut with the 'Arnold kills Satan by shooting him a lot' ending.
GET ON IT HYAMS.
Tried to get through End of Days the other week and struggled with it to be honest. Doesnt really float my boat. Arnie is pretty good in it though.

HERCULES IN NEW YORK is a goddamn DISASTER, aside from the bear scene. I can't even enjoy that flick on a it's-so-bad-it's-good level, aside from the bear scene.

It should have been the bear scene on a 80 minute loop. Nothing else.

Settle down, eenin.

Touching on this point in a roundabout way, do y'all have some favorite songs that are inseparable in your mind with an action film? For me, obviously GNR's "You Could Be Mine".

Fleetwood Mac Peter Green period, and Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks period both are better bands then Kiss could ever be.
For me, 'You Could Be Mine' and 'Bad To The Bone' will always get me in the T2 mood.

Can anyone hear 'Let It Snow' without thinking DIE HARD?

it not a song But ode to Joy, is hard to top.

I was surprised that Arnie died at the end of that one. I think that's the first time that has happened in his movies.

End of Days was pretty good. Better than Raw Deal in many ways. How can you hate a film that has Arnie shooting Satan with a Grenade Launcher?
Just the sound of Sammy Hagar's voice makes me think of arm wrestling (and child custody battles)

"Eye of the Tiger" is probably the champ though. When I was a kid in rural GA, the Pizza Hut jukebox had that song from like 83-93. And I blew a quarter on it every-time i went in.

What would POINT BREAK be without Ratt's "Nobody Rides For Free"?!
For me its "We Fight for Love" by Power Station. You can't help but think of John Matrix wiping out Val Verde when you hear that one. Honorable mention goes to THE RUNNING MAN end theme.

Yeah, that Theme song was great. No blood in the family friendly cartoon. In this animated series, Conan has a sidekick phoenix. He also banishes Serpent Men of Set by lightly tapping them with his ever handy Star Metal sword.

The female acrobat sidekick has nice boobs though.

Who's gonna say 'How Do I Live' by LeAnn Rimes? Think that's what it's called, anyway.

I can't believe I forgot 'Summer In The City'. Just hearing the beginning of that brings me to the streets of mid-90s New York.

Liam Neeson? I couldn't believe it.
Friend of mine works here in ATL for Marriott. A couple of years back Fahey stayed there for a while while filming a movie with Corey Feldman (I know, I know, cut the guy some slack...Fahey that is). He said Fahey was a pretty cool guy and very personable.

Hey, anyone here ever seen Black Moon Rising with Tommy Lee Jones and Linda Hamliton? I've always wondered if it was worth a damn. It sounds very B-movie worthy.
For me I go with:

"Christmas in Hollis" makes me think of DIE HARD.

"Jingle Bell Rock" makes me think of LETHAL WEAPON.

"Born on the Bayou" makes me think of HARD TARGET.

"Friday night's a great night for football" makes me think of THE LAST BOY SCOUT.

There has been a lot of rumors about that one over the years. Last I heard Chris Nohan of KISS OF THE DRAGON was supposed to direct but I don't know if that's still the case.
I think I might end up getting SOME KIND OF MONSTER and the CONAN animated disc at this rate. Unless I spot something else on my next jaunt there.

I saw that first when I was a kid and stumbled upon it a few years ago playing on the Speed Channel (which by the way has never shown SPEED) of all places. Didn't hold up very well at all. Really drags.

It was written by John Carpenter.

Cool fun flick. Nothing spectacular. Worth a rent.

Edit: Check it out again sometime, Molt.

Saw it. Jones plays a professional thief working for the goverment. He tries to steal a prototype car locked in a mob warehouse. I believe Robert Vaughn is in it as well. Just an average flick in all.

P.S- Didn't know John Carpenter wrote that, Molt.

I just love Arnold action movies. I grew up with the greatness that is classic Arnold and I've probably watched his movies more than any others (with the one exception being Die Hard which I have seen probably 22 times). Ok, here goes...I HATE all Arnold movies post Eraser. Not dislike, HATE. End of Days, 6th Day, Collateral Damage are just horrible, horrible, horrible. To me they even tarnish his great legend.
Even Red Sonja, Judge? That was pretty terrible.
It's funny, all this talk of Arnie films and I totally forgot BATMAN & ROBIN.

Looking at the tailend of his filmography is depressing, it goes from AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS (2004) to KAMBAKHT ISHQ aka INCREDIBLE LOVE (2008).

Get back in the game, Arnie!

Finish your term and get KING CONAN up and running! Be the perfect swansong.

My dad's birthday was this past week and it got me thinking. You know what the first movie I remember my dad taking me too was as a kid? Blue Thunder with Roy Scheider. I mean how freaking cool is that? To this day I remember by parents telling me to cover my eyes in the scene where they peek in on that nude woman in her apartment. What a glorious childhood I had.
I don't get the hate END OF DAYS at all. Arnold has tons of great dialog and Byrne is a friggin' riot as Satan. I appreciate that it has a different horror tone which sets it apart from a lot of his other flicks.
Blue Thunder Vs Airwolf?
That is the question.

I concur. Somja was horrible. I'm not saying all Arnold before Eraser is greatness, I'm saying that post-Eraser all Arnold action is atrocious. And I swear, damn you AMC. Due to the fact they show True Lies probably twice a week I always find myself losing around 5 hours a week of my life as I have to watch it every single time it comes on.

My current cell phone ring tone is the Airwolf theme. I like to think that when my phone goes off its either Borgnine calling me to help him go beat a drifter or Jan Michael asking if I want to go knock down some Jaeger shots. But if I had to choose, Blue Thunder all the way.

You've got an Eliza Dushku addiction haven't you, Judge? Don't worry, we're all in the same boat on this one.
End of Days is probably Arnold's best post-Eraser movie.
It's worth watching for the scene where Arnold makes a smoothie out of rotten food scattered around his crappy apartment.
This is just fantastic. Someone remixed the Terminator theme into 8-bit form to go with our recent NES movie themes discussion.

That's like comparing The Beatles to the Monkees!

In other words, BLUE THUNDER rules.

We had it good, Judge!

I'm finally watching HICKEY & BOGGS. The transfer looks like it was taped off a UHF station. But so far...pretty good.
There's no doubt that after ERASER things got funky for Arnold. But I feel like I was always able to find something I liked in whatever he made, even if the overall film stunk:

JINGLE ALL THE WAY: Phil Hartman was hilarious.

BATMAN AND ROBIN: Arnold was hilarious.

END OF DAYS: Truly just like it.

THE 6TH DAY: Tony Goldwyn's fucked up clone was pretty cool. Enjoyed seeing Arnold with Duvall.

COLLATERAL DAMAGE: Got me on this one. No real spark at all.

TERMINATOR 3: Truly just like it. Wish Hamilton had come back, but what are ya gonna do?

Edit: Damn Elvis. You lucky. Always wanted to see HICKEY AND BOGGS.

HICKEY AND BOGGS? Holy shit, that was directed by Robert Culp too as well as starring!?! Need to track that bad boy down.

Wife just left to go play Bunko. Put down the wee man, now I'm starting up Night of the Creeps on Comcast On Demand HD. Aaaaaahhh, sweet, sweet relaxation....
It's written by Walter Hill. Feels like a dry run for 48 hrs. I'll drop my thoughts when i'm done.

Just another reason to track down DOGS OF WAR.
Make it a double feature with Walken's other action film, MCBAIN. If you can find it on dvd that is, I bought mine on VHS for a dollar.
Promotion should be gearing up for GAME soon, has there already been a trailer or should we be expecting one to show up?

I guess I'm just looking for an upcoming action movie to get excited about. THE MUMMY and TROPIC THUNDER are enough, I suppose. Maybe I should check out the BANGKOK DANGEROUS trailer! Or maybe not.
I'm sure I've seen MCBAIN on DVD in HMV. I'll have to check prices. I'm in the mood for a Walken Fest (even tempted to give THE DEAD ZONE another spin, wasn't that impressed first time around)
Holy bargains, Batman!

Not only is the Seagal boxset on sale for 20 quid in HMV stores, on the HMV site it's at the reduced price of 14.99 with free delivery.

MCBAIN and DOGS OF WAR are each 2.99, free delivery.

This is sorely testing my 'No more spending on the net' pledge that I undertook the other week.

Sure, you might as well check it out. If nothing else you can laugh at it.

I understand that Pineapple Express also has some action in it, so you should have that on the calendar also.

I've seen the Pumping Iron DVD before. It's an entertaining documentary, although even they admit in the special features that not everything was factual. For example, they admitted that Arnold not attending his father's funeral due to him being at a competition... not true. The "good guy vs. bad guy" stuff was exaggerated.

If nothing else, you get to hear Arnold talking about cumming.

I actually found that someone uploaded the film to a site called Viddler.
C'mon guys, we got DEATH RACE in like 7 weeks!

MCBAIN and DOGS OF WAR are pretty similar in terms of story. MCBAIN is much more over the top. I sorta prefer DOGS. Even though things don't start going boom until the end I was interested in all the planning Walken and his squad went through to pull off the coup.

Plus Walken firing 100 rounds from his grenade launcher is just plain sweet.

A Paul W.S. Anderson Joint is the best we can hope for?

That HMV sale is killing my sense of resolve when it comes to buying cheap DVDs. It's a shame they didn't put DOGS OF WAR and MCBAIN alongside the more famous titles in the 2.99 section. I only came across MR MAJESTYK at the same price because it was 'recommended' under MCBAIN.

I don't know what to say. It looks like a fun time at the movies.

But hey, if that doesn't float your boat how about STARSHIP TROOPERS 3? Coming 4 weeks from tomorrow. At least here in the states, don't know about Region 2.

I'd say skip MR. MAJESTYK. Not unless you're really interested in seeing Bronson avenge his watermelon crop.
A watermelon crop? Well hot damn!

Ahh STARSHIP TROOPERS 3 could be one to watch. It HAS to be better than the second one, plus with the return of Johnny "I say kill em all!" Rico it has to be worth a shot!

Casper Van Dien wouldn't return unless the script was juuuuuuuuust right, I'm fairly confident of this.

I don't mean to sound overly negative regarding DEATH RACE, it's just my natural reaction to the work of P.W.S.A
