Whoa, that poster. I'm born anew.

I saw the clip.  Animation was top notch but unfortunately anime/tekken/SF doesn't really interest me anymore.  I won't be looking up the full movie anytime soon, but I am impressed with what they are able to do with CGI as far as action goes nowadays.

felix, I am not interested in the...Tekken Anime, But I am thoroughly enjoying the...X-Citing X-Men Anime!  I also cannot wait to see if...Yamato 2199 the series makes it's way to the US.  There are still 2 new Yamato films...Space Battleship Yamato Resurrection the...6th anime film, and the live action Space Battleship Yamato.  I hope all 3 make it to the US eventually on dvd at least.  Also...Blade Anime arrives in January!  Blade Anime looks as...MARVELous as Iron Man Anime, and truer to form than Wolverine Anime.  I expect Blade Anime to be...Cutting Edged, and Sharply written.

Yeah, that poster is just about the equivalent of seeing a poster of Kat Dennings, Diora Baird, and Christina Hendricks posing in erotic lingere.

The smug yet dignified shot of Van Damme is best thing about that poster.

I also like the "too cool to be spelled out" EX2 abbreviation

Whoa, now. It's an awesome poster, but no, it really isn't.

As I posted on my Facebook, I had an orgasm attack upon seeing that poster at work. Really, no other way to explain it at all. Also notice how Li and Couture are completely absent from this masterpiece.

Loved Super 8. LOVED it. Closest I've come to crying watching a movie in the past decade (Where the Wild Things Are notwithstanding) and definitely going to pick up the Blu-ray.

Long time reader, first time poster here.

That Expendables 2 poster is just dripping with hot sex, but...are you guys missing the fact that the long hair "woman" in the middle of the poster is perhaps Li? Because it sure looks like him...

Welcome to the thread, Friskey.

Not to bash your theory, but if you click on the poster you get to see it much larger, and well, unless Li got plastic surgery AND a sex change operation, it isn't him.

Also, via looking at the larger image, why are most of the credits gobbledygook? I guess that's what they usually do for teaser posters like this and I never noticed until just now.

From looking online, that lady must be Nan Yu, best known to Western audiences for being in Speed Racer.

Anyway, the poster is pretty great.

Love that Expendables 2 poster but I hope it delivers the goods more than the original. I'll probably take some flack for this one but I rewatched today and it really misses its mark in some areas.

Welcome to the thread, Frisky!

I first viewed that awesome poster earlier on my iPhone, since my Time Warner internet was being shitty and for most of the early evening, I couldn't get online from my laptop, but I did make out that that was the new "Expendable Girl" in the middle. I also noticed, like Hunter noticed as well, that Couture is absent from the poster. Must be why all of us are drooling over it. Statham does look to be a tad short changed, as I couldn't really get a good look on him.

Well, at least it's not another "Tool and Toll Road look exactly the same in the comic book" type of fiasco.

Been home ever since I got out of work earlier. Hit up the pizza joint across from our house called THE RUSTY ROOSTER and finally tried out their pizza. Surprisingly delicious. Checked my box at the post office and found a nice little package from Amazon that contained Blu-rays of Blue Velvet, Evil Dead II, and The African Queen.

Saw Evil Dead II, and now I'm onto Escape From Alcatraz, which I got last week at a truck stop called Love's that is next to the Arby's that I absolutely always have to stop at when on a trip upstate. Also got Das Boot the uncut version since it was a 2 for 10 deal. Never seen Das Boot, and only the end of Escape From Alcatraz. Really loving Escape From Alcatraz. Wish it was an anamorphic dvd, but it's not. It's an earlier dvd release, and it's just begging for the special edition treatment. Feels almost like a lost Eastwood film, and was the final Eastwood/Siegel collaboration. Plus Fred Ward is in the movie!

The woman on the poster is Nan Yu. Jox said on the previous page that Li's absent because he hasn't filmed anything yet. Odd that they decided to include Nan Yu despite the fact that she's sort of a mystery (given the poster doesn't credit her anywhere). More of a shame, though, if filming is what dictated who made it in, that Adkins is not on there. I might not have thought about it (even though I do like Adkins), but if they're gonna have Nan Yu, then they ought to have Adkins.

Just saw it.  The dumbest movie I've seen all year.  Plain retarded.  But the Action is surprisingly VERY fun and insanely gory.  Looks like a film version of one of those God Of War games.  Mickey Rourke is the big draw for me, and he played the only character with whom I could actually sympathize.  Hilarious movie.

I love ESCAPE FROM ALCATRAZ. Great slow burn flick. Classic Siegel (A shame he and Clint had a falling out during, he really knew how to direct Clint - I wonder if the split hit him hard because he only directed 2 more times after) I sometimes pair ALCATRAZ up with PAPILLON, my alltime favorite prison escape movie. You should check that out if haven't seen it, Eko. McQueen and Hoffman are both fantastic.

Cool you picked up THE EVIL DEAD 2 Blu. I might do the same.

And of course THE AFRICAN QUEEN is essential Bogie.

Tonite: I'm watching the crazy great EQUINOX on TCM

I've been meaning to see Papillon for some time now. Think after seeing Escape From Alcatraz, I want to see that one now.

Never seen The African Queen, but after hearing lots of good stuff about it, I blind bought it. Pretty easy choice too, as it's about 10 bucks on Amazon right now.

Let me know about Equinox, Elvis. Heard good things about it.

The presence of  Yu Nan on the EX2 poster reaffirms that her character must be here to compensate for Li's absence. Li probably won't be in it much and he might even be killed in the first act, what if she plays his hidden daughter, niece or protégée?

Just saw Immortals. It has several slow spots but the last 30 mins is full of insane fun. The Cavil vs Rourke fight is brutal.

Loved the way they depicted the Greek Gods. You get the feeling (despite their youthful appearance) that they are a bunch of bored yet wise superior beings who are just watching all this from high above. Also nice to see the Gods finally getting their hands dirty and joining the fight at the end. In most other Greek Myths they usually just manipulates events behind the scenes or send their minions to do stuff.

Supposedly it is an adaptation of Flashfire (2000).  I don't know how much of the novel they are using, but it DOES revolve around jewels (like the film synopsis) and here's a basic overview of the plot of the book....

In Flashfire, Parker’s in West Palm Beach, competing with a crew that has an unhealthy love of explosions; when things go sour, Parker finds himself shot and trapped—and forced to rely on a civilian to survive.

Sounds like it fits.  The character names given on IMDB for Jennifer Lopez, Michael Chiklis, and Clifton Collins Jr. also match up.  Not the most reliable source of info on a project that hasn't hit theaters yet, but still.  Regardless, Chiklis & Collins are THE MAIN GUYS, Lopez is THE SQUEEZE, and Nick Nolte is Parker's gravel-voice buddy.

I won't be surprised at all if that happens.  Hell, that is what SHOULD happen and here's why....

#1 - Jet Li is still pretty well known in the US and was a pseudo-main character in the first, so it will be a bit of a shock.

#2 - He doesn't seem concerned with being a part of the on-going franchise and is only available for a small part of the shoot.

Killing him in the first act would add a lot of tension to the rest of the film.  If one of the team can be taken out at the start, who's to say that the likes of Couture or Crews will make it?  Or, I shudder to think it, even Dolph?  Bumping off an Expendable or two throughout the course of the film will raise the stakes, which is EXACTLY what this movies needs to do.  It also allows room for other action stars to take their place in The Expendables III.  Give them their due and a badass death scene......and then keep the story moving.

Besides, since they are going up against a Van Damme/Adkins-fronted merc team that is presumably just as good as they are, it only makes sense that one or two of them might die in the process.

Anyway, speaking of Expendables, I'm hoping to catch Mickey "plays with himself" Rourke in Immortals sometime this weekend.

Felix!  I am glad you liked it.  I think we are both on the same page on this flick.

Rourke is surprisingly good in it. Chewing up scenary (and eating walnuts) at the same time. The designs for the Greek Gods (especially Athena) weren't bad as well.

I've have an issue with The Titans though. They are not very menacing. Especially the way they are depicted in the opening (20-25 small guys packed in a Box?)

Lot of sites have been removing that EXPENDABLES 2 poster by request, Millenium Films calls it a forgery:

To my knowledge, this poster was not made by anyone at Millennium and/or Lionsgate. It is a forgery.

Though Joblo who ran the "exclusive" first still hasn't taken it down.

Trailer for Woody Harrelson in RAMPART:

Looks like at this point it isn't scheduled to open outside of NY and LA. Maybe that would change if Woody is good enough to generate some Oscar chatter.

I was gonna mention this last night but got caught up.

It seems like a weird time to release this flick, but I think by now people will have forgotten about THE SHIELD, which was originally titled RAMPART if I am not mistaken.

I am not gonna lie, as I watched this trailer all I thought about was "Wow I really miss THE SHIELD".

I'm watching an episode of the original Thundercats right now and the villain's voice is an almost pitch-perfect impersonation of James Mason.  Just figured I'd share that pointless bit of info.

He's great in it, but it's only okay, more of an intense character piece. Woody's racist, sexist, alcoholic, and it's just him screwing up over and over again. He's phenomenal, but it honestly seemed like the whole second half could have been re-edited in any specific way and it would still be the same movie.

Ice Cube shows up an hour in as some sort of Internal Affairs guy, putting the screws on Woody. He's kind of awful, and not at all intimidating.

Finishing up watching The Bear featuring Tcheky Karyo and Bart The Bear. Hunter talks about almost crying at Super 8, well this one got me a bit emotional in certain scenes. Still, it's a pretty amazing film, and if any of you gents want to see a film with minimal dialogue and music, check it out. It's not very arty, not in any way I'd say is bad. I just dug it quite a bit.

I just this for pre-order on a dvd website.  Grindhouse 2wo coming out in the UK in Feb 2012

In the style of 70's grindhouse comes Man Hunt and Stripper With A Shotgun in one exciting programme that is full of zombies, cannibals, Nazi's and bare breasted ladies. If you like your cinema raw with plenty of violence than GrindHouse 2wo is not to be missed. Starring Michael Madsen, Brigitte Nielsen, Linnea Quigley, Robin Askwith and Patrick Bergin.

If they actually make these with the Grindhouse aesthetic, we could have a fun 2 hours.

Forgery or not, that poster kicks ass! August can't come soon enough!

Speaking of Mr. Norris, I picked up a cheap triple feature set of the Missing In Action movies yesterday. I haven't seen them in several years so looking forward to watching them again.

I'm sad that Bart the bear already died. He would have been a great supporting actor in EX2. He had better acting skills than Couture.

Have you guys any idea from what images the photoshopper too the images to compose that fake EX2 poster? That specific Lundgren image seems familiar. Is that on the Fat Slugs or Retrograde dvd?

You should have a good time revisiting those Carlos greats, Falcon! The first and third one are arguably the better ones, but the second one does have Soon-Tek Oh playing a vicious camp commander.

Grindhouse 2wo sounds like it will be worth a look.

After seeing the subtle brilliance that is The Bear, I'm now watching an underrated little horror movie that stars Thomas Haden Church, Lisa Loeb, and Justin Urich called Serial Killing 101. It's a lot better than that generic sounding title. Corey Feldman also shows up in a cameo as a hick who works at a hardware store.

Here's what's probably up with the poster. The images are all likely from Millenium because all the actors look pretty much how we've seen them in the various set photos. A poster was probably being put together with the images but not quite finished, hence the gibberish credits. Somebody got a hold of it and then blammo it's on the Internet.

No reputable confirmation but it appears the Seagal/Steve Austin flick MAXIMUM CONVICTION has started filming in Vancouver. Keoni Waxman is directing and filming could be scheduled to wrap as early as December 9th.

STEVEN SEAGAL: LAWMAN  will be returning in January as well. This time in Phoenix.

FAT BORDER COP on the loose!

Wasn't there another season that aired already? When is that hitting disc? Either way I'll be seeing FAT LAWMAN.

Now I'm watching my Netflix disc of the week. Midnight Express. Only ever seen the ending of it when I switched on AMC to see another movie that was starting after it. Pretty depressing movie so far. Bo Hopkins and Randy Quaid show up. That's cool, along with the Moroder score, and Paul L. Smith as the sleazy head guard.

Yeah, there's no way that poster, which seems to be official imagery if not an official poster, didn't come from inside Millennium/Lionsgate.

I'm down with Jox / S.D. Bob Plissken. If Li and Couture bite it (making room for Nan Yu and Liam Hemsworth or Norris), I'm cool with that.

The title makes me groan, but otherwise it sounds like something straight up Rene's alley. Plus, I enjoy the main people in the cast.

Well, as long as Loeb is in the movie for more than a minute, her role will be more substantial than in the Fright Night remake.

So, earlier this afternoon I was channel-surfing and I stumbled upon a surprising sight, and on a real surprising channel. I landed on one of the religious channels I get, and who do I see? Why, Gary Busey... acting a scene with Margot Kidder! I later find out it's some crappy religious-themed movie called Apocalypse III: Tribulation, which concerns The Antichrist (Nick Mancuso) and his pals (apparently members of the Illuminati... hey, they use the pyramid with the eye on top) wiping out most of the world and brainwashing the rest of it via a *virtual reality helmet*. I shit you not, there's brainwashing involved and they do it to those who don't believe automatically by using one of those virtual reality helmets from the 90's. And yet this movie was released in 2000. Believe me, I didn't watch all of it but instead some random scenes, and it is pretty bad. Here are some more things of note:

* Busey and Kidder play brother and sister.

* Gary ends up in a coma and you see him awaken years later. He sports a Kris Kristofferson-style haircut with matching beard. It's quite the look. Somehow, he manages to shave the beard and cut his hair BEFORE escaping from the hospital.

* I see some guy with black-rimmed glasses and a goatee, and I think, "No, it can't possibly be him", but indeed it was Howie Mandel (!!)

* Margot Kidder is apparently an atheist, and it wasn't until production started that she realized this was a serious religious production. But of course.

I do wish I could have been on set for the making of that film. I can't imagine a more batshit insane male-female duo than Gary and Margot!

Through a series of late nights dicking around on eBay (recommended if you ever want to find that way cooler Nico painted poster for Above The Law), I managed to procure a copy of Russ Meyer's three volume (!!!) autobiography, A Clean Breast! It's a pretty frustrating read, as it's written just like one of those meandering, manic monologues in his films. Even the pictures, which there are plenty, get the short shrift as someone thought it would be better to have lots of thumbnail sized images on otherwise blank pages.

There's some pretty good bits here and there, though, as he publishes a letter that he got from Charles Napier, who says some really nice things (pretty much saying "I did Rambo and whatever but I had the best time on your films...we should hang out more!").

That's one of the several reasons I don't buy the forgery-fake-leak conspiracy theory... And I think J is more legit and serious than those so called movie news sites who can't make real news and information of their own. Maybe those sites are asked to take it down because they're bypassing the exclusive rights that Joblo got for it, so they can't run it until some time has passed without giving link and credit to Joblo.

Covering the EX2 news and talk back to people on various sites is exhausting.

Lisa Loeb is one of the main characters in Serial Killing 101, so it's much more than a small one note cameo.

That's quite the crazy sounding movie with Busey and Kidder that you stumbled upon!

I was hoping that it would be interesting when I read RUSS MEYER THREE VOLUME AUTOBIOGRAPHY, and then my hype went to zero when I read what else you posted. That's pretty sad. He could have made an awesome autobiography with plenty of pictures of his ladies, but from the sound of it, he didn't. I'll probably still pick it up if I find it cheap.

I finished up watching Midnight Express, and since the Giorgio Moroder/Oliver Stone bug has bit me, I'm watching my Blu-ray of Scarface that's been sitting there since September. The new sound mix is a big RIGHT ON! Can't wait until I see Mel get his first class ticket to the afterlife....IN HD!

Went to Wal-Mart after reading over at Dvdtalk and on Blu-ray.com that the Resident Evil Blu-ray steelbooks are available and cheap, but didn't find them. I did pick up GROWN UPS, which I know a lot on here hate, but I loved seeing in the theater. Twice!

I remember seeing this trailer. I immediately thought, oh, cheeseball straight-to-DVD horror, but then it looked kinda fun and serious, and Thomas Haden Church as a wisecracking murderer sounded fun. And then they revealed that Feldman cameo involved him wearing a pair of fake buck teeth you'd find at an average joke store for three bucks and said, fuck it, this can't live up to its promise. The trailer does tease at Loeb taking off her shit. Does this happen???

Sadly we don't get to see Lisa's Loebs. The closest we get is when Justin Urich is on top of her, and we think he's going to take her top off, and we're at least going to see her in her bra, then it cuts to a body double with a belly piercing and he starts licking her stomach, then that's it. Pretty shitty. The movie itself though is surprisingly good. I first rented the dvd back in 2005, or 2006. One of those. I had seen the trailer as well, and figured it'd be worth renting for 2 bucks. Church really goes over the top and has fun playing the villain.

Apparently Lisa Loeb was 34 when the movie was released, and damn if she doesn't look about 20 or so in the film.

You should check the movie out Gabe. It's worth a look. A lot smarter and better than the title suggests. The original title is SERIAL KILLING 4 DUMMIES and is taken from a line at the end of the film. That's actually a better title and hints at the black humor that runs throughout the film.

Van Damme: Rolling With The High Kicks

He mentions Street Fighter and how much he liked working with Raul Julia.

Well, I really wish I could have seen it from beginning to end. That way, I wouldn't have automatically only seen bits and pieces of it, as my first glimpse of it was about a half hour in.

Now that's a quality shirt. The only one I have that comes close to being that cool is one of Rocky which says "American Hero" on it.

Tonight was the latest UFC pay per view, and overall it proved to be a quality event, especially the main bout between Dan Henderson and Shogun Rua. The semi-main event was Tekken and Pandorum star Cung Le vs. Wanderlei Silva, and well, I won't spoil the result but that was quite the fight too.

The only celebrity that they showed in the crowd... unfortunately, it wasn't a thread favorite. It was Channing Tatum!

I watched the first one today and was surprised at how entertaining it was, much better than I remembered. I'll never hear Rod Stewart's "If Ya Think I'm Sexy" again without thinking of this movie. And the part when Chuck emerges from the water firing that big machine-gun is just iconic and made me want to stand up and chant "USA! USA!"

Tonight I finally got around to seeing The Green Lantern, and while it's certainly not as good as this year's offerings from Marvel, it's not the complete failure I was expecting. It needed to be trimmed by about fifteen minutes and some of the back story on the main villain was muddled, but overall I was entertained. Worth a redbox anyway.

Damn, Rampart looks like exactly the type of movie I would enjoy.

Gotta call shenanigans on the Expendables 2 "denials" as well because it looks like a nice photo job (if far from perfect). Hopefully we get something just as good down the line.

That's awesome, but I was NOT prepared for that picture to be the size of a fucking football field.

Missing In Action was also meant to be the sequel to "The Beginning's" initial chapter since they were made back to back. Golan and Globus liked what they saw of the second one so much, that they decided to switch them and have that one be the first one out.

M. Emmett Walsh was awesome in the movie as well. Really wish he'd made it.
