Perhaps the rival team of JEAN VILAIN will try to take him out? Then he'll go all Vijay Armitraj on them!

Not at all how this works.  I understood having an NFL guy in the first film worked, and of course WWE and UFC... but fucking tennis?

Austin, Crews and Couture are big tough guys, playing fictional characters, totally keeping within the 80's action world of the first. Djokovic is playing himself. Fighting off henchmen with tennis rackets. Big difference there.

Might crack some PBR's and watch Angel Town on vhs tonight! I should go to Walmart and get some DVR+'s so I can transfer it, but you know how that goes. Although those Resident Evils do sound tempting.

That sounds like a good plan. You can't go wrong with KFC and PBR. Speaking of that, last night I went to the local Buffalo Wild Wings to eat dinner there, watch some TV, and yeah I had some Pabst. Nothing of note to say there, except that I saw a midget girl walking around, then later she got in her car and drove away! Yes, there are ways for vertically-challenged people to drive regular-sized cars.

Tremendous. I SO want to see Seagal and Zooey have a conversation with each other.

What is not tremendous, though, is that a little earlier in the night I saw that a certain movie would be on TMC at this time, and it's a film that has been mentioned in this thread before.

Believe it or not, it's BLUBBERELLA.

I'm one who says that Uwe Boll doesn't deserve all the BS he's gotten for like the past 5 years or so. That trend of blindly bashing him has gotten old. However, he does deserve to get bashed for this. It just started at midnight, and as soon as I post this, I'll turn the TV off and do something else; it really is SO bad. It's so amateur and cheap it looks like it was made for about 500 bucks. Honestly, no one should watch it even if you were curious like I was. It's just insultingly bad.

For example, right now they're doing a spoof of Precious for Christ knows what reason. And the movie is really set in no time period; it deals with Nazi's and Hitler and yet modern technology is used... yes, it's that stupid. I guess it was thought that was OK because this is a spoof, but trust me none of it is funny in the least bit. There are chapters and titles that appear on the screen as if this was fucking Kill Bill, which it's a million miles from being. It's so bad, it seems like none of the scenes I've witnessed so far really go together at all in any way that makes any sense.

Even if you're a "chubby chaser", please avoid this. I have NO idea what Boll was thinking with this, unless he was on a massive coke-fueled bender the entire time; "mountains of cocaine" is my only explanation.

Yeah, it's about time for me to turn the TV off; not even the introduction of a nice-looking brunette named SLUTLANA makes me want to keep on watching this travesty.

I have to believe they were filming a commercial for his racket manufacturer. Please.

Just got back from Chicago a couple hours ago! Saw The Raid, and had a great time in the city on a Sunday night.

The Raid is everything and more that everyone who's been lucky enough to see it has been saying it is. I'm not even worried about blowing it out of proportion, because it exceeds any possible expectations you may have in your mind. It is the new standard upon which all future B action movies will be judged. I can't even believe that they have the balls to try and remake this movie for an American audience, they will never recapture the brutality on display in this film, which I can now safely call the...

NEW BEST B ACTION MOVIE OF ALL TIME!

My friend Jon - "If there hadn't been other people in the theater I'd have just pissed in my pants!"

Rated R!

AWESOME!

Scott Adkins just revealed on Twitter that he'll be fighting Statham in TE2.

“@mike5_paris: do you have 1 on 1 fight scenes on #Expendables2 ” Adkins v Statham!

Well, Jox, this sounds like a stellar package and, in no small part, we have you to thank for helping this be realized.

Oh, and the cover on the left is SO much fucking cooler than on the right.

Yeah. The one on the right is the original video cover, but if that one on the left isn't the cover that is on the outside, I'm flipping it to the outside, because it's friggin' awesome. Going to pre-order this nice slice of 80's action.

That picture is a classic.

Saw the first 2 episodes of Rome: Season 1. Pretty great start. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the season and season 2.

Watching The Omen remake right now. Never seen it before. It's directed by John Moore. He who has earned the hate for directing Max Payne (which I liked) and now A GOOD DAY TO DIE HARD aka Die Hard: Red Steel, Die Hard: Dosvidanja Tovarisch. It's not bad for a modern remake, and not PG-13. Pete Postlewaite is bringing an aura of class to this movie that it doesn't deserve. Then again he did that in a lot of movies. RIP.

Been reading The Hellbound Heart aka the progenitor of the Hellraiser series. Pretty good so far. Scorpio's name in the book is Rory as opposed to Larry in the movie, and Frank is brought back to life via dead sperm cells of his from when he jerked off (in fear!) right before being taken by the Cenobites. Perfect night time reading.

3. THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE

5. SOMEWHERE IN TIME

6. THE LAST MAN ON EARTH

Gonna be a long wait until June 12th, but it's nice to have a date to finally focus on for that RED SCORPION Blu-Ray. Prefer that newer cover art though I'm still fond of the original art as well.

Comes out the same day as the LETHAL WEAPON Blu-Ray box set. Will be a pricey day, though I may hold off on the LW set until the holiday Blu-Ray discount season.

Not many men could pull off the pink shirt/Olmypic rings pants look. But ol' Bud could.

With any luck Djokovic's appearance in EX2 will be scored by NBC's old Wimbledon theme music:

Classiest sporting event theme music ever. Take it any day of the week over One Shining Moment.

Checked Amazon, and there's no pre-order link yet for Red Scorpion. Strange as it's only a little over 2 months before it's released, but at least it's coming out soon, and not later this year.

I'll probably do the same thing you're going to do about the LW Blu-ray boxset, Molt. I just revisited the first 3 films a few weeks back, so since they're still fresh in my mind, I'm not eager to get the set right out the door. I'll wait until it's 20 bucks or 30 bucks.

Just watched Cowboys and Aliens. Good film right up until Olivia Wilde becomes the Phoenix, then it really shits the bed. But Craig, Ford, and Wilde (in the first half) are bringing their A game.

I'd love to see a remake of Magnificent Seven with Craig, Ford, Denzel Washington, Nic Cage, Russell Crowe, Robert Downy Jr and Jeff Bridges as the title characters. Actually maybe have RDJ play the leader of the Mexican Bandits. Maybe replace him with Jason Stratham as a bounty hunter who's "gone native" and wears War Paint on his head.

Wow. I've never heard of pulling your pud as a response to fear, but that idea for reanimation makes me laugh and laugh, and it sounds like the perfect book for Rene... and I mean that in a good way.

Here's some amazing news I came across from a sports site, which found the article in a local Seattle newspaper.

Current NFL player Marshawn Lynch (of the Seattle team) will star in a movie called Matt's Chance. The plot is that a cowboy type starts having problems with his life and it all involves bankers, the mafia... and religion.

The co-stars, though... amazing. Lee Majors. Gary Busey. Margot Kidder. And Edward Furlong! A few months ago I wrote about how one Saturday on a religious channel I stumbled upon a religion movie that had Busey and Kidder and remarked that it was the most batshit insane duo you could come up with. Well, reuniting them AND adding in a drugged-up Furlong... that sounds like a set I wish I could work on!

Read about this on Deadspin as well and couldn't believe my eyes.

This is definitely one to watch.  I have a feeling it might put Seattle filmmakers on a map!

I'm surprised that Busey doesn't seem to have a Madsen-esque list of films to be shot or in development since he could really use the money to pull himself out of bankruptcy. Then again, maybe he does. Haven't checked his IMDB listing in a long while.

Before any of you watch this, I should note that there is a spoiler on the fact that a certain Expendable DOES NOT die in the opening:

That actually makes me feel a lot better.  I was worried.  And speaking of being pumped for a film:

Was that art used for a VHS/DVD release before? I've seen it used for the Thai one-sheet but I'd be interested in knowing when/where it was used for a home video release.

Edit: Think I found it:

http://www.ethaicd.com/show.php?pid=43307

REELZ channel is pretty much all Seagal, all the time, in anticipation of the premiere of True Justice. Watched a 30 minute "exclusive" interview they've been running (and will run endlessly I'm sure) and if you like Seagal at his egomaniacal best then I can't recommend it enough. This interview has it all, including:

-Use of his phony-bologna southern accent.

-Hypothesizing that his films have grossed $3 billion dollars.

-Boasts of how True Justice will be the most realistic cop show on the air.

-A response to being asked about improvisation that begins by him saying "I am the king of improv, if you'll forgive me for saying so."

But that's not all. The tart they have interviewing Seagal starts pretty much every question off with a sentence of praise first. It's amazing. At one point she even says to Seagal "I can tell music is your heart."

I damn near flatlined.

I wonder what the folks at the official Seagal site though about it. They probably went nuts.

"Oh Steven! You are the greatest interview! Your improv is amazing!"

Erix is around. He's been pretty active on facebook, listing movies he's seen and giving a short take on them.

Found out yesterday evening that Breaking Bad season 4 is streeting on disc June 5th. If you're a fan like I am, it's great news.

Today's awesome action flick:  Peter Hyams' RUNNING SCARED (1986).

Billy Crystal and Gregory Hines are Chicago Cops after drug smuggler Jimmy Smits. Along with 48HRS. and BEVERLY HILLS COP, it's one of the most fun actioners of the 80's. Spectacular entertainment.  Also stars Dan Hedaya, Darlanne Fluegel and Joe "Joey Pants" Pantoliano. Great music, great script, must see. :)

Never seen this still before and it's fucking amazing. Very Konami-esque.

I love a good thriller, and i've seen most of the big ones from the 90's, but one I never got around to is the American remake of THE VANISHING. With the stellar cast -Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland, and Sandra Bulloch- I've long been curious about it. How bad could it be? After all it's the same director at the helm of both. Well, browsing a blog I've just discovered, I came across a case that the remake is an interesting experiment, (as a fan of Van Sant's PSYCHO, that's the just enough something to get me to finally see it), a film consciously redesigned for its American audience. So, since it's been a long time since seeing the Dutch original, sometimes this week I'm gonna rent the acclaimed haunting original, and watch the red-headed stepchild remake on Instant, judging them with a head to head comparison/marathon viewing. Hey, i'm a geek!

Bridges has a really weird/annoying accent in the remake. That's the most prominent thing I remember aside from it having the American studio mandated happy ending.

Someone was telling me about it the other night. Apparently, Bridges is a buffoon in it.

Rene just nailed the thing about his performance I heard.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Doesn't he take a shovel to the mouth at the end and he has a big-ass Heath Ledger Joker smile?
