Thanks for the link. Good read, interesting to hear his criticisms of THEY LIVE.

That Mark Goldblatt interview was great. Glad to hear he's doing what he loves.

I've said it before, but I'm glad guys like Eric Roberts and Bruno are keeping busy. Pretty sure if I was an actor, I'd be doing the same thing. Doing lots of movies and making a paycheck. Danny Trejo does it too, and he really seems to enjoy it. Always nice to see them pop up in a movie whether it's crap or something good. I remember that DTV The Steam Experiment that Eric Roberts did with Kilmer was not bad. I dug it.

I posted that John Carpenter interview yesterday. Dailey Grindhouse is def a web site worth a regular visit.

Speaking of John Carpenter, late Friday, TCM Underground is showing a double feature of his classics THEY LIVE + ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK. So that's cool.

Revisiting my non-anamorphic dvd of True Lies since Fox hasn't gotten off their asses and given us a stacked Blu-ray, however I've read some scuttlebut about that and The Abyss getting the HD treatment before the end of this year, or early next year.

Still one of Arnold's best films, and really showcases his talent for comedy.

I've never liked the way Arnolds treats Jaimie Lee in that one. A black mark in an otherwise enjoyable film and pro-feminist/pro-strong women career for Cameron.

Stallone to voice animated mercenary:

Lionsgate, which has already partnered on three Internet TV shows, is working on another one that will star Sylvester Stallone, CEO Jon Feltheimer said Wednesday.

The Stallone project, an animated show that Lionsgate is negotiating to make with Reliance, would be called Soul Survivor, about a last-of-his kind mercenary. It doesn't yet have an online home. Lionsgate released Stallone's recent hit The Expendables and will handle his upcoming sequel.

Holy cow. You weren't exaggerating. And I thought Michael Madsen was a busy man.

Once the official trailer comes out in about 14 hours or so, I'm sure many of us will spontaneously implode in our pants.

Remember when I drunkenly mentioned last Friday night I saw some parts of a film that Hunter praised on his Facebook page? Robowar, the really cheesy and goofy Italian movie filmed in the Philippines starring the legendary Reb Brown? Well, I finally watched it in full tonight and it's really bad... but bad in a hilarious way. It's a riff on Robocop, Predator, and some other things, with a baddie that looks a lot like the Wraith. Besides what I mentioned already (i.e. one pal telling two others that they're "drug addicts and fags" and thus they must have AIDS), here are some other details:

* The soundtrack... SO 80's-riffic. It's a mish-mash but it's all synth, synth drums, and wailing guitar. It ruled.

* Reb's character name? Murphy Black. How can anyone not think of Murphy Brown?

* The name of Reb Brown's group? BAM. What does it stand for? Why, BIG ASS MOTHERFUCKERS. The name doesn't really fit this group, though. If only The Expendables could be called that...

* One guy tells another: "You walk like a ruptured duck!" I don't even know what that means.

* Many war cries are uttered throughout.

* In the middle of the film there's a scene where the BAM lay waste to an entire village. Reb fights one of the enemy soldiers. He knocks hi on the ground with the butt of his gun, and then kicks him square in the balls!

* Oh, and Wraith uses a laser to blow shit up. The laser blasts look pretty fake.

What a movie. I'm glad Hunter discovered it.

DVRing the Samuel L. Jackson is the Devil movie MEETING EVIL. If it gives my man Sam a chance to chew scenery, I'll be happy.

Hey, Molt, about to give SINNERS AND SAINTS a try, based on your recommendation.  If I can tear myself away from JUSTIFIED, SEASON 2 long enough.  God, I love that show.

A lot of classic Jackie Chan up on Instant. I hope to finally get around to WHEELS ON MEALS.

Yeah, thank Jesus for Netflix.  I found some Chow Yun Fat I've never heard of, and a Rothrock I haven't seen.  Plus, tons of sleazy Italain crime flicks.

Also on there, 3:15- The Moment of Truth!  Adam Baldwin versus some high school thugs.  I'll have to check it out and see if my sixth grade self was an idiot.

How's SINNERS AND SAINTS? Been on my radar for a while. That and the post-apocalyptic Michael Biehn flick THE DIVIDE might be my next rentals.

I've got THE DIVIDE on standby.  Saw the trailer for it during one of my cinematic weekends, and wrote it down as a future rental.

I haven't started Sinners and Saints yet.  I'm too busy fucking around on this here internet.

It's a travesty that Eric Roberts hasn't received a Hollywood Star yet. The man was in Carnosaur: Raptor, Dammit!

Jackie Chan injures his left shoulder during filming.

Update: He's okay and he'll finish filming in 5 days.

Keith F, Did you ever see...My Bodyguard?  Adam Baldwin was hired by Chris Makepeace's dad Martin Mull, to protect him from Matt Dillion.  My dad suggested my friends and I see it after we had experiences with bullies!  I thought it was a very...cool film.

Hey Guys, WOW!  The...EXcellent Trailer to...Expendables 2, EXplodes My...EXpectations to...110%!  Get Rene (Mr.Eko) Or another B Action Movie Thread poster...STAT!  This should definitely be on the main page!

What a great past 12 hours or so for me. First off, the trailer... it left me so spent I felt like needing a smoke or a cold shower afterwards!

But real late last night I was looking at my laptop and noticed that there was an icon on the desktop for Netflix. I knew it was for a free month of membership. My curiosity got the best of me and I finally signed up for it; I've finally joined the 21st century, at least in that aspect.

I spent what was going to be a short amount of time looking at what was on Instant, as that's all I'll be using. It turned out to be a long while and I have over 100 films in my queue! No kidding. Of course I won't come close to watching them all in one month, unless I decide to pay the 7.99 for June... I'll try to watch as much as I can and enjoy this crazy month where I can finally watch some flicks I've been wanting to see for a long time now.

Yeah, that EX2 trailer does look like a good time. I'm sold. It is literally true that all of the finest action stars in the western hemisphere are in this one flick. Awesome.

Duke, are you in Avengers countdown mode? You're in for a treat!

I just watched the trailer. I think we can just refer to it as "the trailer" and it should be clear what we're talking about... Yeah, I think even detractors of the first movie have to agree that this looks like a kick-ass good time. Also - it may have been a bit too "cute" but I laughed out loud at the "I'M BACK!" line.

Judging by the main page of the site it is true that detractors of the first film say it's better. I really wish that someone like Hunter or Rene would have had the chance to have written about the trailer rather than the person who actually wrote the article, as it was full-on hipster douche mode in bashing the first The Expendables; that movie being "often dull"... excuse me while I roll my eyes.

Yep, that Expend. 2 trailer is all kinds of promising.

Look, fellas, two years out it's okay to like the first one AND admit it is seriously flawed, even by B standards.  It could have been so much more.  Here's hoping the kinks are worked out here, and most importantly the action better staged.  And Randy Couture dies pre opening title sequence.  Or his character is just referred to in a wallet sized photo that Sly keeps on him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the Expendables hater guy, I will still watch it- it's on Instant- and I still dig most of it.  Just hoping that 2 ups the ante, and becomes the SpiderMan 2 to the franchise.

Oh, and as I said on my facebook, Cynthia Rothrock needs to get into part 3 stat, even if it's as a villain.  Not like anybody outside of us knew who the fuck Gary Daniels was/is.

I agree, though, the hate heaped on the first one in some circles is a little much.  It wasn't as bad as they let on, and not as good as alot of us let on.

VacuumJockey, I have been counting the days to The Avengers for the last...Week!

The Perfect Weapon, I agree, The Expendables, is in no way...Dull!  If people dislike it, that is fine.  I still say The Expendables is the...Best Film of 2010!

Dammit, Netflix keeps skipping over RETURN OF THE STREET FIGHTER in my queue. (Never had that problem before, and movie doesn't say short or long wait) I think I'm gonna re-watch the original tonite.

"Reassured" is the word i'll use to describe the new TE2 Trailer. I wasn't blown away by it like The Dark Knight Rises Trailer. But i think the new TE2 Trailer promises a fun 80's type Team Action flick with One Liners. No preachy messages here. Just Sly and his team blowing shit up.

I've to say Van Damme looks years younger here. The best he's looked in a long time.

Let's stay realistic though. Just remember, Stath's Killer Elite Trailer rocked as well. And that turned out less than satisfactory in the end.

What we got was a different film then was being sold.  This trailer is for a badass action flick and it looks like we're gonna get it.

A couple of lines from Dolph would've been nice.

I wonder how audiences will take to seeing Chuck Norris back on the Big Screen? It must've been ages.

"MY SHOE IS BIGGA DAN DIS CAH!"

Oh Arnold, how I've missed thee.

Yeah, THE TRAILER is pretty much the best thing ever. Agree with Van Damme looking way younger. It's crazy. I'd gotten used to seeing him looking his age, now he's looking about 10 years younger.

Kind of digging how Sly dropped the goatee from the first and just has a handlebar mustache.

OK.  I really getting excited by the cool cast he is getting for the sequel.  Rodriguez had better remember to make the sequal about Machete this time.  He should be front and centre, messing up fools.  Machete Kills! better be what happens throughout the film.

Hey guys, thought id share my very own B grade action film with you all. I tried to make it like a VHS era Cannon film. Very cheesy dialogue and old school action.

Check out the films site for trailers and footae and let me know what you think

I'm going to go out on a limb here and make a prediction:  Cool setup, individual moments that work, but  finale that is just plain careless, formless and stupid.

Video Store Excursions: got DIVIDE and THE HITCHER for tonite

Hey Guys, I am going to be seeing The Avengers...Assemble on the Silver Screen with my dad.  Amusing side note.  When I asked for the tickets in...2D, I was also asked if I wanted to...Upgrade to 3D.  I told the ticket clerk it was...not an upgrade, as the film was not...Shot in 3D.  The Manager was also in the ticket booth and told me the film...Was, shot in 3D.  I then said, I am well read on the subject, and the film...Was...Post-Converted to 3D, but not Shot in it!  The Manager, thought I would accept his word as...Gospel.  Meanwhile, the Ticket Seller found the discussion enlightening, and thanked me.

felix, I am hoping the new addition to Machete Kills you...Heard,  is Lovely...Amber!

A couple of tired gags aside (Crank finger-gun, Arnold looking at the camera and saying I'M BACK for the eight hundred thousandth time), EXPENDABLES 2 appears to be bigger and slicker-looking than the first one. I like how they seem to be embracing the ridiculousness more this time around.

Also they made Van Damme say the word PLOOTONEEUMM. I will gladly live under the rule of Van Damme once de balance shifts!

Yeah, I didn't understand one damn word Van Damme said in that entire trailer.  Which is kind of awesome, really, the level of the King's butchery that will occur in this movie.

I'm hoping Van Damme gets a big monologue and plenty to say. JEAN VILAIN should not be a quiet "let's his actions speak for him" type of bad guy.

Watching Vigilante on Blu-ray right now. Looks really really great. Another stellar BU transfer.

There's a description of Van Damme's character on Facebook.

"Terrorist and mercenary Jean Vilain (the ferocious Jean-Claude Van Damme) will stop at nothing to find a massive stash of soviet-era nukes, slicing and high-kicking all who stand in his way. Are the #DirtyDozen any match for him?

See “The Muscles from Brussels” in The Expendables 2, opening August 17th!"

Now that's a hell of a great description for JEAN VILAIN.

It's an odd trailer.  But because I like to hide from spoilers myself, I will hide some of my discussion here in spoiler tags:

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Similar to how the first film played off the Actors' known roles, this film seems to be packing in great stunts and moments from other films.  We've got the finger-gun bit, the vehicle being thrown at a helicopter bit, the plane in the tunnel, Arnold throwing out one-liners, and just look at that truck with all the awesome tags: "Coming Soon" "Knock Knock" "Bad Attitude", etc.  The only thing we're missing is a John McClane reference from Bruce.

But damn, that movie looks good.

The answer is NO!

I think I'll have to look away when Sly inevitably kills him at the end of the movie.
