Also apparently they are some plans to bring STEP UP, RED and THE EXPENDABLES as a TV Series.

I don't know. Lorenzo Lamas, Jeff Speakman and Oliver Grunner in a weekly series?

Anyway,  EXPENDABLES 2 TV SPOT really kicked ass.

It is the closest thing to THE AVENGERS as far as excitement level for summer movies goes

HAYWIRE is one of my favorite Action movies of the last few years. So weird glancing at the thread for it and seeing people being dismissive and expressing hatred for it. Don't get it.  I love how layered the plot is, and how much of an adrenaline rush the fights are. It's brilliantly directed, with a star-making performance by Gina Carano. And it has a perfect ending. What more did people want from it?

I was one who dismissed it on first viewing.  But I'm gonna take another look soon.  Something about it has stuck with me, and I'm not sure what.  Go ahead, post pics of Gina Carano if you want, I'm aware she's an attractive female.  It's more than that.  In theory, it should be what I'm looking for:  superb filmmaking technique applied to DTV action fare.  Still, left a bit cold by it, although I want to rewatch and see if I pick up on more nuances like the great Bill Paxton moment, when he sees what a killing machine his lil' girl actually has become.  Also, love the Fassbender fight.

I didn't hate Haywire.  I enjoyed it, but I did feel that they could have aimed a little higher.  It was a familiar 'Double-Cross' plot done with an A-list supporting cast and a real-life woman of action.  With one of the most fearless directors working today, I expected something like a Battling Babe film from the Hong Kong heyday.

Now that I know what it is not, maybe I will actually enjoy it more the next time.

TCM is double-billing BADLANDS + BONNIE & CLYDE tonite, so that's cool.

AWESOME new Expendables 2 TV spot. There's one shot that has all of them firing with Statham, Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Willis, and Norris all lined up blasting away that's like oh my god.

I'm going to go against the grain and sing the praises of Safe House. Perhaps I'm just a Denzel Washington apologist? It felt as though it were a lesser-tier Bourne flick or yet another team-up between Washington and Tony Scott, which is a compliment in my book as I dig these pics. While Denzel's good, the real stand-out of the flick is Ryan Reynolds. After the one-two shit shot of Green Lantern and The Change-Up, it was good to see him doing solid work again, i.e. charming yet not smug and convincing in action scenes. Then again, Reynolds has always been an actor I like better than the films he appears in. Outside of Safe House the only movies he's done that I dig are Van Wilder, Adventureland and Smokin' Aces. Also, there's a pretty dope fight between Reynolds and Joel Kinnaman aka the new Robocop.

Love the new EX2 spot, hope it gets some exposure during the NBA Finals. One gripe through, the shots of the plane near the end are not too hot. Don't know what happened there. Plane looked fine at the end of the theatrical trailer.

On this birthday for Clint I must make a confession. I foolishly watched the first episode of that E (I'm not putting the exclamation point) channel reality show starring Clint's wife and his daughters. Dear Lord, now I know why Clint has stayed so active making movies into his 80's. Anything to stay away from that house.

As for HAYWIRE, you know you're in trouble when something is often referred to as a "New Wave Action Film." Now I know that "New Wave Action Film" is code for "Not Very Exciting."

Im with Mac here.

It was just ho-hum.

the action was pedestrian.  Short spurts (almost too short) and very robotic.  It didn't feel all that organic.  It was very much...story story...OK TIME FOR AN ACTION SCENE.

I wanted to like Carano a lot more.

Frankly, the only positive I have in regards tot he movie is that Sorderbergh shot the action decently and didn't use shaky cam.

I admit I watched part of it too. His wife gets her belly button pierced to scare their kid away from getting it done.

Did Clint actually show up in the episode you saw? I heard he appears in a couple of the episodes, but not all of them.

Some of you guys might have a change of heart about The Rookie by watching it. Leagues above anything with the Kardashians though, and the older daughter, Francesca, is actually quite good looking.

Yeah he showed up at a dinner that the family attends. Was a couple minutes of screen time.

It just kills me that Clint's home is now a hangout for a boy band. That's not how it should be.

This one surprised the hell out of me.  Thought it was very funny.  You should have given it a bit longer.

Although I am curious to see if these things I found funny while locked up- i.e., not a lot of entertainment choices- are still funny to me now.  Fuck that, it's a funny movie.

The Losers did lead to this hilarious exchange between him and Jason Patric.

Max: What the hell am I looking at here, Wade?
Wade: Clay and his unit.
Max: "Clay and his unit?" That sounds like a porno, Wade.

McCallany has been an actor I've enjoyed for quite some time. I especially dug his work on the short-lived FX series Lights Out. Were the stars to align correctly I'd kill to see him headline a Max-inspired Punisher flick directed by John Woo.

Hit up the Redbox last night and picked up Goon and Underworld: Awakening. Goon was awfully good if excessively foul-mouthed. (Note to co-star/co-writer Jay Baruchel: there's words in the English language beyond "fuck." It can be a good way to punctuate certain points, but it loses its power with overuse.) Seann William Scott was impressive playing a role quite unlike Steve Stifler in what ultimately wound up being much more of a character study than a rah-rah sports flick. Liev Schrieber, Board favorite Kim Coates (playing a decent dude for a change) and Alison Pill do strong supporting work.

Underworld: Awakening was more of the same. I don't know what it is about those flicks - they always look cool and yet somehow always manage to underwhelm with a lack of story and character development - but I still want to see them. Kate Beckinsale sporting a cat suit may have something to do with this. This fourth installment left the door wide open for a fifth ... hopefully I'll wise up by then.

My mom was watching a few minutes of this thing the other night.  Presumably to try and get a glimpse of Clint.  I don't get it.

I agree on The Change-Up being pretty underwhelming. It was an ok film, but nothing spectacular.

I still stand by Haywire being decent enough. I won't be hating on it.

NOTHING Clint does can make me hate The Rookie. He could do a stupid kiddie Disney comedy where he's Mr. Wilson in a Dennis The Menace reboot, and I'd still love The Rookie. Ok, I like the 1994 Dennis The Menace film, but you get where I'm coming from.

Went to Lunch with my Parents, and my Mother and I stopped off at K-Mart, and I found the 5 film Beethoven franchise pack for 10 bucks, along with a PS3 game for 20 bucks called Homefront that's written by JOHN MILIUS. Yes, JOHN MILIUS wrote a VIDEOGAME. I can't wait to play this. The funny thing is it's about North Korea taking over the U.S., which is basically the new Red Dawn. Even more crazy is that the original villains for the game was supposed to be the Chinese, and they wised up about pissing them off and changed them. Just like in the Red Dawn remake.

So yeah, John Milius wrote a videogame, and I bought it. Details later on if it's good. Tomorrow's my last day of work, but today was the last day for the kids, so I'll have the summer!

Fat Elvis, Gina Carano was...Excellent, but her film went...Haywire, and hopefully there will be a future film worthy of her talents.

Adam Baldwin could be...Stallone's Son even.  Craig T. I think you may have been swindled, Eko. There are now 7 BEETHOVEN films. You're likely missing BEETHOVEN'S CHRISTMAS ADVENTURE as well as  Jonathan Silverman, Rhea Pearlman, and Eddie Griffin in BEETHOVEN'S BIG BREAK:

A few hours ago I happened to watch a few minutes of that TV show. The sound was off as I was listening to something else. I am sure that is for the best. That episode did happen to have Clint in it, which was nice, but still... typical reality TV show garbage, where everything's as scripted as one of Clint's movies. It makes me sad he is now a part of that crap.

Oh, Rene... nothing you say that you have will really surprise any of us. That's OK; it's just that I was not shocked to hear that is what you have amongst the thousands of discs you have.

So, I just finished watching the movie known as RAPE SQUAD, usually known as Act of Vengeance, which is what it is known by at Netflix. It is an early 70's AIP production (already a good sign there) about a serial rapist who wears a jumpsuit and a hockey mask (hmmm, sounds familiar; two familiar horror icons may have been inspired by this guy) and the five women he has raped decide to fight back by taking karate and setting up a service for women who need help.

Holy shit, what a movie.

The first half hour or so are quite sleazy and uncomfortable; I know that's the point, and they did it well. You get to see the rapist in action three times and it always made me feel skeevy. By the way, he forces the women to sing Jingle Bells, because... well, why not? You then see that the women seem to be just as victimized by the whole police process. Linda (the first woman you see get victimized) especially feels that way. She yells at a cop who loudly says, "I'd lie back and enjoy it" and in so many words she tells him that she hopes he gets butt-raped!

Once they get together then it's when the hilarity begins. Yes, hilarity.

Another lady tells them about another rapist. They trap him when Linda goes to his house; when he tries to do the deed, the other ladies (led by an older karate master chick) kick his ass, knock him into the beer can pyramid he has, trash his house... and oh yeah, pour blue dye onto his cock and balls as a way to mark him. I swear this is all true.

A little later another person calls in for help; they're dealing with an obscene caller but they know who it is. It's a fat bearded old guy. They hold him against a wall while taunting him; one girl yells, "DO YOU HAVE A GIANT WANG?" They then take off his shirt and make fun of him for having bitch tits!

But the greatest thing is that one of them comes across Percy the Pimp, who is slapping around one of his ho's. She calls in all of them, and most of them are wearing karate gi's, and they come out of a sweet Volkswagen Bus. The cougar karate master then kicks his ass as they trash his car. She then kicks Percy onto the hood of his wrecked hoopty.

The finale takes place in an abandoned zoo, of all places.

Oh man, what a sleazy movie; you see nudity and not just during the horrific scenes. Yet it's also a fun watch due to the funny moments I mention above. I am sure some will now be interested just because of what I said. It's easily found on Netflix Instant.

I fucking love Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (aka Living Dead at Manchester Morgue).  It is absolutely one of my all-time favorite zombie films and worthy of sitting alongside Romero's classic entries in the genre.  I will never stop singing its praises!  It also predates the Italian zombie craze.  What exactly were you confused about?  I haven't watched it in a long time, but I'll try to help if I can.

We're watching Cobra right now. The whole sequence in the hospital showed that Sly could do horror. I'm still hoping he does a sci-fi or horror movie eventually.

Reverse that first sentence and you have my own opinion.  In terms of disposable sci-fi/horror entertainment, I'll pick Underworld over RE every single time.

As for Sly and horror, let's just hope he actually does make Hunter some day.

Scenes like that are why I will NEVER understand the hate for The Losers.  It was always supposed to be a fun comedic action flick.  It was never supposed to be like The A-Team (another terribly underrated flick) and The Expendables.  My same opinion holds true for Red, albeit to a lesser degree.  At least one of them is getting a sequel, though I would have preferred Losers 2 between the two.

Also, are we seriously getting THREE FILMS A PIECE (though only 5 total) from both Arnold and Sly next year?!?!?!?!?!

The Last Stand (2013) - Arnold

Bullet To The Head (2013) - Sly

The Tomb (2013) - BOTH

The Unknown Soldier (2013) - Arnold

Grudge Match (2013) - Sly

Not to mention at least three Statham flicks:  Parker, Hummingbird, and the Untitled Heat Remake.  Possibly Homefront as well.

I'd also like to point out this...

JANUARY 18TH - The Last Stand

JANUARY 25TH - Parker

FEBRUARY 1ST - Bullet To The Head

FEBRUARY 8TH - 47 Ronin

FEBRUARY 15TH - A Good Day To Die Hard

FEBRUARY 22ND - Riddick 3 (tentative)

Arnold.  Statham.  Sly.  Keanu.  Bruno.  Diesel.  Back to fucking back.  What in Cthulhu's name decided we deserved such a treat?

The Perfect Weapon, I think Briana Evigan should...Step up, and...Dance to a remake of...BJ And The Bear, with her dad Greg!  That, I would watch.

S.D. Bob Plissken, I am glad to finally put a...Bullet To The Head, to the question of when the next...Sly Movie, comes out of Walter's...Hill! I am not sure if I will be seeing Parker, but I have no interest in either Keannu Reeves or his...47 Ronin!  Bruce Willis can keep his Good Day To Die Hard to...Himself.  Ditto the Diesel Powered Riddick 3.  Of course my most anticipated film of 2013 needs no introduction as it contains...a Rock, a...Cup of Joe, and a barrel of...Ninja!  G.I. Joe Retaliation is...STILL, very high on my list.  YO JOE!

Rene (Mr.Eko), I never fell for Beethoven's Sym...Phony!  Even in the...Dog Day Afternoon!  I didn't realize there were a not so...Magnificent Seven of them!

Crossing my fingers that GRUDGE MATCH will fall through and Sly will work on RAMBO V or something else instead.

Has there been any news on the Statham/DePalma HEAT remake? Seems like things have gone quiet on that one.

As stacked as that late Jan/early Feb schedule is I'm thinking a few of those are gonna jump off those dates to avoid the crowding. Probably BULLET and PARKER since those have moved a few times already.

The whole thing sounds like one of those TAXI films that Luc Besson makes. There was a Japanese Bike Messenger film that had a similar plot as well.

I've seen several people on IMDb make that same comparison, and I say it is apt.

Oh man. What a DTV all-star cast. It isn't quite how I imagined an all-star Expendables riff to be. Looking online, it is a Russian production filled in Crimea, the director is named Maksim Korostyshevsky, it also has James Cromwell, and the plot is about rich people playing to be a part of war simulations, but of course things go wrong this time.

That doesn't sound like a bad idea. Lord knows that Greg deserves a better fate than appearing in a few Asylum films-sad but true-and recently appearing in a PG-rated made for Canadian film that just came out on DVD... that movie... METAL TORNADO. No, it's not from Asylum nor Roger Corman. It stars Lou Diamond Phillips! I heard a detailed review for it and it sounds rather shitty. Apparently, a minor character looks like Buffalo Bill after the surgery, to use their description.

Oh, and in something else that sounds like it's from Corman or Asylum but isn't from either, Lou is starring and directing in a film called ARACHNACONDA. Wow.

Yep, yep. I'm sure some already have it as the wallpaper to their computer.

I discovered this today, but just hours ago the family of Joe Spinell created a Twitter account of him. It's appropriately @JoeSpinell. I already started following it.

The commentary on The Road Warrior: Mad Max 2 is definitely worth a listen to.

Nope. Still not interested.

Seems like The Cold Light Of Day is another stinker for Bruce. It got pushed back to Sept this year and most of the reviews are saying its shit as well.

Had myself an interesting afternoon. We went to the County Clerk's office to get our Marriage License, and then I dropped Vanessa back off at work. Then I hit up the pawn shop nearby and got Army Of Darkness: Screwhead Edition, and Jason And The Argonauts on Blu-ray. Also picked up Rain Man on dvd. Best part is I got the Blu-rays for $6.50 each, and the dvd was a little over a buck.

While I was looking at the Blu-rays, some douchebag came over and swiped a handful of Blu-rays. Among them were the first 3 Underworld films. Bob Plissken as been on my ass about checking them out, even though I loathe them, and this could have been the time where I said "Fuck it, they're 6 bucks and change.", but alas it was not to be.

Rene (Mr.Eko), The thief will get his due, If he decides to...Watch any Underworld films!

Awesome. If only you'd have a bachelor party with members of the board... I imagine it'd end up being everyone in the backyard of your place, someone setting up a projection screen, and there being screenings of films like The Rookie, Piranha 3D, and Bucky Larson: Born To Be A Star. It's great that the big day is coming up soon.

Hopefully you enjoyed Safe. Despite some issues I had with it, I still managed to enjoy it due to the action and the final 10 or so minutes.

Right now on FX there is a lower-level UFC event going on. As it's on Las Vegas and it's on that channel some guys that you'd recognize are there. Unfortunately I only recognized a few of those people. From Sons of Anarchy are Ron Perlman and two other dudes, and from Justified are Nick Searcy and someone else who wasn't the lead nor Walton Goggins.
