Well that trailer looks FRIGGIN' AWESOME! Already did a piece on it, and gave you credit, Fazer.

looks like video game kung fu manga anime fun, could do without the cgi blood though

The RZA's directorial debut has its first trailer.

It looks wildly over the top, just like I'd expect from one of the greatest rappers/music producers of all time.

I could do without the CGI blood, but when Bautista went all "golden colossus" my interest really kind of piqued.

This looks like it could be really good.

Sorta surprised that with Tarantino "presenting" and Roth's involvement that there would be so much CG. Crowe looks fairly wicked though. That's likely enough to get me in the door.

I still don't quite know what to make of the film; the setting and who is in it is certainly odd, BUT if I shut my brain off I just may very well enjoy it.

Speaking of things presented by grindhouse people, yet another person has joined the Machete Kills cast... and it's a familiar face we've seen (usually as a villain) for years now.

William Sadler!

Yes, the cast just keeps on getting more and more amazing. It's like this film is being made specially for people like us.

I love that Crowe's going the Clint route and seems to be The Man With No Name on steroids.

Oh man, WILLIAM SADLER is in the movie now? It really does seem like it's being made for us.

Perhaps one day there will be a film that will say THE B-ACTON THREAD PRESENTS:

Sadler in Machete Kills? That Man with the Iron Fists trailer? HOLY FUCKING SHIT, especially the latter.

Anyone else thinking of the Night Slasher and his axe-smashing cohorts every time that chanting in the Dark Knight Rises trailers is heard?

Those Lebowski 2 rumors are too good to be true. That said, if it ever happened, I'd probably drop dead with my mouth wide open in ecstasy.

Good for Sadler. Between MACHETE KILLS and IRON MAN 3 he's poised to have a well-deserved comeback to the big screen next year.

And I think it was the patron saint of this thread Chris Wood, who once said early on that one day the denizens of this thread would go on to populate the world with excellent B-Movie Action.  I believe in you guys.

Fazer, Rene (Mr.Eko), As I posted in Rene's article on...The Man With The Iron Fists, This is the closest to a properly, R Rated over the top...Iron Fist Film, Hollywood will produce.

duke fleed, let's hope that Marvel takes notice of this and puts out a proper Iron Fist film. I also hope that if this film allows it, and it makes enough money, we will get a sequel.

Nothing much new to add about THE TERMINATOR. It's a brilliant blend of Sci-Fi, Action, and Horror. In it's own B movie way, a perfect film. Schwarzenegger is awesome here, frightening as a cyborg Michael Myers. (A shame he never returned to a villain role). The whole thing is excellently cast -from Rick Rossovich to Paul Winfield and Lance Henricksen. Everybody nails their role. Of course, Biehn is great. And it's interesting that coming off playing a psycho in THE FAN, audiences at the time would be unsure whether to trust him (a brilliant maverick casting choice by Cameron) -the movie doesn't exactly reassure you he's not crazy untill the bullets start flying. And when he's frantically explaining what exactly a Terminator is, he's freaking Sarah and us out. There's a  unhinged darkness; a manic intensity behind his eyes (he's known nothing but the hell of death for his entire life). But you see the shit going down isn't rational, so you're with him, and the movie twists this relationship, becoming a love story between two on the run survivors: and ultimately you believe it, that in the few hours the two of them spent together they fell in love.

In conclusion, I dig that the movie is pretty much unrelenting from the get go, building to a frenzy that, even if having seen it many times before, has you white knuckled, grabbing the arms of your chair. I used to be a T2 guy, but now, with no hesitation, my preference is the original all the way.

Oh, and no matter how much Arnie has run the catchphrase into the ground over the course of his career, I still get a giddy kick out of "I'll be back." here. It really is an iconic moment.

You mean Sadler as FRIENDLY BELLHOP in Man on Ledge: Yawn wasn't enough of a comeback for you?

The Sensei gets his first Comic Book Appearance.

Check out the pic. The man is pleased!

The funny thing about Sadler's role in Man on a Ledge is that - for most of the movie - it comes off like this shitty cameo. And then, at the eleventh hour, they turn the bellboy into AN INTERESTING AND IMPORTANT CHARACTER. And they expect you to be surprised. But, obviously he was going to turn out to be more than just "the bellboy." I laughed out loud at the twist.

I really, deeply disliked Man on a Ledge.

Caught Ted this morning. While expecting to dig it, I was unprepared for how much I'd actually like the movie. Family Guy isn't my thing per se (Loved it before its cancellation; upon its return it's very hit-or-miss), but Seth MacFarlane really knocked this one out of the park. As funny as it was, what really surprised me was the amount of heart Ted had. Shit, it moved me to tears twice. You cats on the Board will likely dig it for its Flash Gordon fanaticism. All-in-all, a really solid flick and better indication of Mark Wahlberg's comedic chops than The Other Guys was.

But is it a better display of his comedic chops than THE HAPPENING?

At least it was intentionally funny this time. "Doesn't anyone care about the bees?"

What did you guys think of the new THE EXPENDABLES 2 Clip posted on AICN?

felix, The clip was...cool, though most of it was shown in earlier trailers.

Checked my mailbox today and found a pleasant surprise.

Dick Warlock Autographed HIII.jpg

That picture was taken in Vanessa's office. I had gone over there so I could pick her up and we could run some errands. My childish happiness made her put her patented "You're crazy." look on her face, and when she saw it she said "It's a profile shot." I replied with "But its got Tom Atkins too!"

So yeah, now I've got an autographed Dick Warlock photo. Really cool it showed up fast, because on his official site it said 4-6 weeks, and I just ordered it last week.

I finally got to watch Killer Elite last night. I know some of you guys don't care for the movie, but I enjoyed it. Sure, it wasn't balls-to-the wall action like the trailer suggested, but I liked the movie. I'm glad that Dominic Purcell had a sizable role. No way it would happen, but I would love to see a Mr. Smith/Chev Chelios buddy movie.

It wasn't terrible. But you didn't find it like 20mins overlong?

Finally saw BLOOD AND BONE. It's Awesome.

"I've got some business to take care of."

Put me in the "The Killer Elite wasn't that bad" club too. I dug it. The trailers really did sell it wrong, that's for sure.

Since Elvis mentioned it, and I've been listening to the score a lot, I'm revisiting the Director's Cut of Commando. This is a movie that needs to be seen at least twice a year if you consider yourself an action fan. Plus steel drums are awesome.

John Matrix, I enjoyed The Killer Elite.  To me Statham is best in his...Franchise Pictures...

The Expendables, Crank and The Transporter.  Outside of those Safe and The Killer Elite would be my faves.  Death Race was solid.  I think that since he enjoys action but not superhero films, that maybe a remake of a...Classic Cop Series like...HUNTER would be a...Perfect fit for Statham.  Maybe a remake of...The Delta Force, and start a...Kick-Ass...Terrorist Stomping...Franchise that goes more than the...2 Norris Classics!  As for new material, I would...Love to see Nic Cage and Jason Statham in a film directed by...John Woo, or something like...Transformers 5 and 6, directed by someone other than the...Master of BAYhem, as he says he is not directing anymore of these...TRANSFORMative Rock Em Sock Em Robot Films after TF4!

When I first started posting in the B Thread 5 yrs. ago, right out of the gate I infamously proclaimed that I never really liked PREDATOR. It's a testament to the good natures of my fellow thread regulars that I wasn't ostracized on the spot or given a verbal browbeating. (You guys knew I was wrong, but let it slide ha) Anyway, slowly and surely over the course of a few revisits, I've come to like the movie quite a lot. I dig the pulpy heart of it. Schwarzenegger and company are straight out of dime novels and comic books, especially their diologue. And the Predator itself is an 80's action updating of the 50's sci-fi monsters. Blend it all together, guided by the deft hand of John McTiernan (I seem to remember at the time, his direction was hailed by the auteur loving France), and you got a true classic . As much as the men-on-a-mission aspect of the beginning is fun, it's the Arnie vs monster climax that is my favorite. It's here that the physicality of Arnie's performance is most impressive.

I will say, as much as I've come around on the original, you still can't sell me on the worthiness of PREDATOR 2. I haven't and won't drink that kool-aid!

This is what i'm talking about!  I don't mind the CGI blood, this is a fantasy film so it works.  I'm really looking forward to this, hopefully the Kill-Billy nature it gives off should get people to check it out.  It has a production budget of $20 million.  If that is correct, then they got some real value for money it seems.

I may be in the minority, but I'm looking forward to this a lot more than Django Unchained.  It's the Kung Fu!

Killer Elite was a tad long, but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me as it was for others.

Blood and Bone is the real deal, I hope we do get another one.  Black Dynamite is awesome, but Bone is equally deserving of more installments.

In other news my Synapse Blu-Ray of Red Scorpion arrived earlier than the 26th July(!) estimate.  Maybe they just meant June. Anyway, can't wait to check it out over the weekend.

One in the Chamber looks like it'll be a fun time.  I haven't seen Dungeon Siege 2 or Stash House, but from what you guys say, they're both snoozefests.  I was getting worried that things were heading in the wrong direction for our Swede.

Awesome. As I've said before, the feud between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen is awesome in so many ways, and I am very excited to see their long-awaited rematch in only 8 days time.

By the way, I wish that there was a proper comic book series with Seagal (who hopefully will be at the show next Saturday); could you imagine how over the top glorious that would be? It'd be a comic I would actually buy.

Everything I've heard about the movie makes it sound terrible. Not even knowing that there's a bellboy who turns into a vital character in a serious film makes me want to see it.

I actually honestly don't remember that you used to dislike the film. I am glad you changed your mind; I was reminded of it when I watched the movie again earlier in the week but it really is fantastic. It is something I need to get on a platform fancier than VHS, that is for sure. As for Predator 2 I know it is something which really polarizes people but I am in the camp that really enjoys it. The cast is pretty sweet, the title creature does a lot of cool new shit, and the last 45 minutes or so pack a lot of punch.

Since I put that clip of EX2 up, and I saw the movie Klute earlier, I was reminded of kain424's Ultimate Sly Tribute video.

Watching SCARFACE. The motel/chainsaw scene is DePalma out Hitchcocking Hitchcock. A masterclass of suspense cinema.

Still remember the first time I saw the movie and realizing that scene happens so early in the film. I'd always heard about it, and at that point (1999) I'd gotten a book by Laurent Bouzerau called Ultraviolent Movies (check it out it's a great read) and I figured that was a scene in the middle of the movie.

Was just checking out The Digital Bits website and saw that 6 Bullets is now going to street on disc on September 11th. I was hoping to do a double feature with One In the Chamber, but alas it can't happen now.

Revisited Swamp Thing a while ago since I saw the trailer last weekend when I saw The Thing and it got me wanting to take out the dvd. Still a pretty good comic book movie. Especially given that it was made at a time when comic book movies weren't deemed commercially viable.

Also found that Escape From New York trailer I saw that was also attached to the print of The Thing. It's friggin' awesome.

It's a perfect trailer to accompany a John Carpenter film. Also kind of reminds me of the trailer for Alien.

Watching the Night Of The Living Dead remake from 1990. Always liked this film. Ever since seeing it on Monstervision back around 1997.

Fat elvis, I don't remember that far back, but I will go ahead and take blame for being one who gave you shit about the initial PREDATOR dislike.  It is a perfect movie, and frankly I can't get enough as far as PREDATOR discussion.  The thing that is beautiful to watch in the movie is how it starts with military tech (at the time) at its finest and how you see this elite group stripped of their confidence and ego, weapons, and eventually each other.  It comes down to war on its most primal level.  Warrior vs. Warrior.  No gimmicks.  I mean its amazing.

As for PREDATOR 2...I hold a lot against it partly because I revere the original so much.  I will say that I often times don't get some of the stances my fellow thread regulars take on certain flicks.  The gents in here are stubborn and stick to their guns.  Over time i have seen what they appreciate about PRED2, but I still can't bring myself to say I actually like it.

Mac, I am really looking forward to MAN WITH THE IRON FISTS.  i am with you.  As for Dacascos, I probably should have mentioned that he has been showing up in HAWAII 5-0 as their big bad in episodes for a while now.  He often times has stunt double laden fights with Alex O'Laughlin's stunt double.  Its really disappointing seeing him like this.  H5-0 is actually a pretty entertaining show though!

An all time classic!

On a separate note, I finally saw Duncan Jones' SOURCE CODE starring everyone's favorite "Prince of Darko" Jake Gyllenhall.  I know its not really an action movie, but damn that was a fine movie!  Real heart to it.  It had a great score too it too.  It almost sounded like it was channeling classic Lalo Schifrin, but it wasn't him (I checked).  I'd highly recommend the flick guys!

Source Code is pretty good. Duncan Jones is 2 for 2 as far as smart sci-fi goes. I'm eagerly awaiting Neil Blomkamp's Elysium. Especially since District 9 was brilliant.

Heard there's a Quantum Leap call back in SOURCE CODE. Haven't seen the film yet though.

You guys and your Killer Elite appreciation is baffling.

Elvis, I won't attack you on Predator 2. I really, really enjoy it, don't get me wrong, especially if viewed as Lethal Weapon 3.5: A Roger Murtaugh Adventure, where he gets saddled with dealing with Jamaican drug lords, asshole Feds, and the Predator during sweltering heatwave while Riggs and Cole are on their honeymoon. That said, while there are moments that are worthy of the original, the third act is a wash as soon as Murt...I mean Harrigan gets on the ship.

You guys want to be enlightened, check out this repost of a Newsweek article on violence in the media from '91.

Quote:
America's addiction to make-believe violence is like any other addiction: it takes more and more to accomplish less and less. Thirty-two people get offed in "RoboCop" (1987); the 1990 sequel serves up 81 corpses. The makers of "Die Hard 2" (1990) really outdo themselves: up from the original's 18 to a body count of 264 (this, of course, includes a plane crash that takes out more than 200 in one fell swoop). "Die Hard 2" makes "The Wild Bunch," a stomach-churner back in 1969, look, in retrospect, like "National Velvet." In his horrifying "Silence of the Lambs," director Jonathan Demme straddles the old and the new, taking a gruesome plot and filming it with Hitchcockian discretion and taste. "We wanted to exploit people's endless fascination with scary stories, and provide them with a tremendously powerful version of a scary story, but we didn't want to upset their lives," he explains.

The article ponders, "What kind of people cheer lustily when Bruce Willis pokes an icicle through an eye socket into a baddie's brain?"

Us, you mean? Hell yeah.

I watched Suicide Club and was floored by that opening scene, so much blood. The rest of the film was decent at best, it felt kind of low budget, there a couple of good kills but the films rambling philosophical bent about connection to the self would've been more interesting if the kids weren't made out to be so vague, it's never really explained who or what they are. I don't mind ambiguity but I don't think it work's in this film's favor.

Zombie Apocalypse is a lot of fun. It's the Asylum's best film. Next to Milf anyway.

My friend bought Suicide Club several years back and we saw it. It's pretty weird, but I like that song they sing in the middle of the damn movie. I didn't really like that it didn't explain much either, Nathan.

Watching Frank Henenlotter's Bad Biology. It's a very strange and crazy film. Pure Henenlotter.

It reminds me of that one clip which made the rounds recently of Nightline in the late 80's where they did a segment on slasher movies and how bad they are, and it was awesome to watch them interview people like Linnea Quigley, but the best was the goofy-ass kids they interviewed. I can't seem to find it now-of course-but for all I know it was already taken down from YouTube.

Speaking of goofy sex comedies from that studio, earlier in the year, late last night I saw a part of a film they put out last year, called BARELY LEGAL. It's about a trio of hot chicks who are looking to all get laid on the 18th birthday; they were born on the same day, after all. lol to them still being virgins, by the way. They are horny and end up in their bras and panties (or less) often. It was too late so I had to go to bed after only seeing part of it. It was rather shitty and real low-budget but if I am able to see it in full then I will, in order to properly rate it... and oogle the leading ladies too! I am sure Rene will rate it high no matter what.

I swear, I don't want to keep on watching the movies of a certain actress, but when I saw late last night that tonight at midnight MGMHD would be showing the film Antitrust and why not check it out in 1080i? The movie is about a computer company that is obviously supposed to be Microsoft and its Bill Gates (Tim Robbins!) turns out to be an evil son of a bitch and it takes computer genius Ryan Phillippe (yeah, pretty silly) to try and stop him. The film is rather goofy and ridiculous, especially by the end, but it was still entertaining for what it was. It certainly wasn't subtle but you have to laugh at a film that has both a major plot point being someone quite allergic to sesame seeds AND a jump scare involving a caged gerbil. There's also many plugs for Pepsi... so much so it almost reminded me of Torque.

In terms of women who will turn your 3 1/2 floppy disk into a 5 1/4 inch hard disk, there's also Claire Forlani. Believe me, there are many sex-related jokes involving computers and I'm restraining myself from rattling off some more. The woman who makes me need a heat sink... she did look pretty hot so that was nice. In terms of other famous faces in the cast, there's also small roles for Richard Roundtree and Tyler Labine, who at least you can believe is a computer geek and as a nice geek name of REDMOND SCHMEICHEL.

Yeah! How dare they insult people like us? What a laughable article, by the way.

Oh, you go there that often? Sweet. I imagine you enjoy their cheddar biscuits, as most people love them like they do crack cocaine.

I MUST SEE THIS MOVIE, and yes, I probably will.

Yeah, I tend to try to go to Red Lobster when I get paid, if we do go, and nothing prevents us from going.

I'd never seen that trailer for Escape From New York before, so seeing it attached to that print was really awesome.

Yeah, I figured you would. Seeing Barely Legal, I mean. I imagine you'll have to make sure to explain to your wife when you get the DVD and she sees the title that the movie isn't what she thinks it is!

One thing I was going to mention above: for some reason, Forlani's character drives an old Citroen 2CV; you know, just like the shitty yellow car that James Bond and Carole Bouquet have to drive down the mountainside in For Your Eyes Only. That made me laugh.

Ah, she'll probably just roll her eyes at at me and my smile over having the dvd. Then again we did see Milf together, but that's certainly not like the Emanuelle dvds I've gotten from Netflix's disc service from time to time....

Guess Forlani's character couldn't afford the DS which is one of the greatest things ever created in the history of motor vehicles.

Well here's a fine fireplace poker to the abdomen:

Things like this shouldn't bug me. Yet they do.
