Maybe i am in the minority. But i think JOHN RAMBO is the best place to end the series.

P.S- Saw a bootleg Teaser for THE MAN OF STEEL. Not impressed. But then again i am not a big Supes fan.

Oh it is a good way to end the series if Sly never gets around to doing Rambo V, but I still hope for another one.

The teaser for The Man Of Steel was attached to the print I saw yesterday, along with The Hobbit teaser. Both of which had the theater howling with applause and me being "Eh" about it. Especially The Hobbit. I seriously have ZERO interest in that film. The teasers boring and mostly features them singing and some other shit. BORING.

That said, they did show the already shown many times, but still really awesome trailer for EX2. It never gets old and I can't wait for the film to come out.

Saw that Batman movie. Boy does it take its time getting where it wants to go. Liked it well enough though. Better than BEGINS at least.

Word. I'm with you on that. Him walking towards that ranch felt like a well deserved, very hard earned, ending for the character. I just don't want the series to become Grumpy Old 'Nam Vet.

I've always been compromised when it comes to these Tolkien films. I was raised up on z-grade knockoffs, so once the original was realized in a slick way, it felt like I had already seen them. Man of Steel could be good, or it could be Space Jesus: Deadbeat Dad like the last one. Maybe this time he'll at least be able to punch something. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt since Michael Shannon is going to be in it.

Still don't know how I feel about Dark Knight Rises, but I do know that I'm anticipating Bourne Legacy if only to see if it's going to reignite the franchise or die on the vine. It was pretty great to see unexpected actors pop up, like Thomas Lennon, William Devane, and Christopher Judge pop up.

Watching some BOURNE LEGACY Clips right now. Stuff looks fine and Jeremy Renner's character has a different feel to it than Jason Bourne did. (No Amnesia. More confident)

Okay, i am off to seeing THE DARK KNIGHT RISES in a few hours. Hope to be wowed by it. Heard Anne Hathaway is exceptionally good here.

felix, Anne Hathaway is the...Cat's Meow in the film.  She was...PURRRRRRRRRRfectly cast as the very...Catty...Woman, whom tickles Bruce's fancy, and inspires the Dark Knight to...Rise...Higher after seeing her in leather.

Well, I have seen The Avengers, Amazing Spider-Man, and The Dark Knight Rises in theaters this year, and I must say that The Avengers is the best of the three by a country mile.

We also got those trailers. There were some applause for Hobbit but a pretty big reaction for the new Superman; not a surprise given all the comic book geeks there. The both of them did not do too much for me. Given that I saw the first LOTR film last year and did not want to see the other two, the trailer did not blow wind up my skirt. Not a lot of reaction for EX2 besides me hearing some people say that the leads were old (no shit, really?); I did not get offended.

I don't know about Man of Steel. The trailer is definitely Nolan-esque, I'll put it that way. And I thought that was Devane who popped up briefly. It was nice to see him.

How did you miss out on the LOTR movies the first time around???

FELLOWSHIP was such a moving, transcendant experience especially seeing it post-9/11. Closest anything has come to the STAR WARS original trilogy.

I don't know whether I like this or Begins more, but in spite of all the bloat, Anne Hathaway is great as a bisexual Catwoman and Tom Hardy's Bane is Hans Gruber gone Lord Humungus. At times feels like a hellish, apocalyptic season of The Wire crammed into three hours. But, it's got a lot of action and it's exceedingly well shot and acted. No Godfather III, thank heavens.

Speaking of that: how'd you like Carcetti's appearance as a graduate of the School for Asshole Sadist CIA Agents? Not just that, but everyone's favorite hooked avenger William Devane shows up and a friend caught Quinn from Dexter as a cop.

I noticed Desmond Harrington as a cop as well. Also that Catwoman was...playing for both teams. Well, it's hinted at that anyway.

You know how I feel about the misunderstood masterpiece that is The Godfather: Part III so I won't go into that.

Hardy as Bane was a formidable Batman villain for the most part until the film shits the bed and makes him a henchman for the most unnecessary addition to the 3rd act. I did love the opening sequence, and anything Bane oriented. Plus as I said, the movie started reminding me of Escape From New York after everything went all to hell and Mayor Richard Alpert got blown all to hell. I still like Begins more, because it feels like a Batman movie. These other 2 films just seem like Nolan making drama films with DC characters, and that's not really what I want to see in a superhero film, despite enjoying parts of both. Was I the only one who noticed a certain beloved actor in this thread's cameo in The Dark Knight Rises, resembles what occurred in the unfilmed script of Batman Triumphant, where Batman hallucinates The Joker via feartoxin, and in Rises, Bruce Wayne has a fever induced hallucination about this certain character from Batman Begins?

Went out earlier with Vanessa and we stopped at Target. I picked up A Very Harold And Kumar Christmas for 10 bucks, and to finally complete my G.I. Joe cartoon series from my childhood, G.I. Joe Series 2 Season 2. Good thing I waited, as literally earlier in the day I was going to order it from Amazon for a much more expensive price, and got it cheaper at Target.

Well, that thing has never interested me. Sorry but it's true. Plus, the movies came out when I was in college in Illinois and I rarely went to the local cineplex.

I laughed at the "it's got a lot of action" line as I still remember which thread post it came from, and that makes me laugh I would remember such a thing. I can't believe so much mileage has been garnered from that shitty film from last year.

Oh, Rene. From what I understand the random blonde who you saw with Selina a few times is a comics character and at least in one story she's a lesbian; I got those vibes too.

Oh man, what I would LOVE is for Warner Bros. to hand off the reins to the Batman franchise to someone like Isaac Florentine, John Hyams, or even as far fetched as it seems, Sly Stallone, and just turn it back into a dark, yet fun fantasy superhero adventure series where it's heavily B-movie oriented, and just gives a big middle finger to realism. More Batman '89/Batman Returns with an increase in martial arts action and gun violence, less Nolanverse and Schumacher Nipplesuitverse.

Adkins is the step in the right direction.

Shit, here's what the rogues galleryPolice and Bruce Wayne Support System should be.

Dolph - The Joker

Van Damme - Mr. Freeze (seriously, he can pull off sympathetic and weary Victor Fries/Mr. Freeze who longs to be with his love.)

Ray Stevenson - Commissioner Gordon

Gina Carano - Catwoman

Eric Roberts - Rupert Thorne

Val Kilmer - Harvey Bullock (heh)

Michael Biehn - Victor Zassaz

Ron Perlman - Matt Hagen/Clayface

Terry Crews - Killer Croc

William Sadler - Dr. Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow

William Fichtner - Harvey Dent/Two-Face

Marko Zaror - Bane

Just keep the series rolling on with a bunch of great actors that won't take over the budget, and keep it the way it should be. Dark, but with a heavy mixture of fantasy and action with sure, a smidgen of realism by way of Gotham mostly being made up of gangsters and thugs.

Just saw The Dark Knight Rises. Liked it better than THE AVENGERS.

I've to say that any scene that had Bruce/Batman with Selina/Catwoman was golden. They have great chemistry together and their teamup seemed exactly right out from the comics.

Biggest drawback is that the 2nd and 3rd acts are so long. It's never boring but the "Gotham under Siege" scenes drag a bit somewhat. The Bane vs Batman fights were nothing special as well. (Its competently shot and better than BEGINS though.) Still that ending was just perfect...

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I suppose most of you guessed that Miranda was Talia?

P.S- They showed the THE MAN OF STEEL Teaser here in Singapore as well. People were surprised but a little dismissive of it. The guy next to me whispered to his girlfriend "Looks like DC is trying to copy THE AVENGERS series." There was a note of disgust in his voice.

Indeed it's very rare on DVD, officially there's only an OOP Scandinavian edition and a dubbed German one. The fact that's it's released widescreen by Anchor Bay is unbelievable but they're obviously cashing on both Dolph and the London Olympics (the only place you ever hear about pentathlon!)...

Only for Dolph completists though because despite the intentions of the project, it's one of his worsts (at least in his golden age of 1985-95) due to lack of money, bad production, and Malmuth's pedestrian direction (yet totally blind as I was told he actually believed he was making a big movie and a masterpiece with an Oscar worthy performance from Dolph)...

I think it'd be a strain... on our pants! After all, I've somehow been able to restrain myself from making some obvious jokes concerning the title of The Dark Knight Rises.

That is actually a pretty cool viral site. Nice find.

My plans for tonight is that there is another UFC pay per view so I will be making my return to the local Buffalo Wild Wings. The PPV is a minor one for sure so I'll be surprised if there's a big crowd around but it should at least be a fine show and I'll talk about if anything interesting happens from the show taking place from Calgary, Alberta Canada.

Thought Dark Knight was an ok movie up until Batman's first fight with Bane. After that it's a long, uninteresting stream of stuff that doesn't make much sense. I did like the endings, though. I'd say it's the weakest Nolan Batman film by a pretty large margin. Avengers is way better.

Also, UNDER SIEGE is the only movie where Seagal pulls off A list Action Hero.

Joe Dante's drive-in cult classic debut HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD is up on Instant.

Synopsis:

"At B movie factory Miracle Pictures, a good movie really is a miracle. Aspiring actress Candy is looking for her big break, but instead gets a part in Miracle's latest oeuvre. She's happy -- until somebody starts killing off the film's starlets."

A fun, affectionate, tongue in cheek tribute to the exploitation filmmaking of the era. Sweet natured schlock and goofy yet clever hilarity.

While I admit I like Jones and Busey far more, I still had more fun with the sequel.  And I disagree with your second point.  I don't think Seagal ever pulled off being an A-list Action Hero.  He was always something different and that was part of his appeal.  Also, he comes closer in the sequel anyways, as he's got some genuinely nice moments where he's forced to deal with Katherine Heigl's character.  Seagal always needed a lighter sidekick to keep him grounded if he was to to broaden his audience like regular A-listers.

Did you see his version of The Champ?

I got back minutes ago from tonight's UFC pay per view. Well, the fights they had on Facebook and FX TV were fun and entertaining, and the first fight on the pay per view was pretty good. The main event was fine, although not up to expectations. The three pay per view fights in the middle, though... real stinkers, so I know that will leave a bad taste in the mouths of the majority of people who went out to see the show, let alone those in attendance in Calgary, who were in a bad mood by the end of the final fight. I mean, they were that bad. It's a shame, as the original planned card was going to probably be good but it was ruined by so many injuries.

As it was in that town there was only one celebrity, but that person will make you 80's/90's WWF fans (like me) happy. It was Bret The Hitman Hart. He also walked out with a fighter during a TV fight. He certainly looks older than in his heyday but it was still nice to see him.

At least while I was at Buffalo Wild Wings I had some good boneless wings and had a decent amount of PABST BLUE RIBBON, so that make the whole experience not so bad.

Watched RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE. Have to say, I think I might owe Anderson an apology. Sure, he doesn't make art, but damn if his films aren't fun, genre pictures.

Dare I say, he's a favorite filmmaker of mine.

I've always been vocal about appreciating Paul W.S. Anderson's films. The only one I don't own/haven't seen is Shopping, and I need to get on that one. The Resident Evil films are a whole lot of fun, and I'm very much looking forward to seeing the latest one when it comes out.

Been watching the G.I. Joe Series 2 Season 2 dvd set. I'm at the tail end of it, and once these last few episodes are done, I've finished revisiting one of my favorite cartoon shows of my childhood. I'm glad that Shout! Factory put it out to accompany the classic show from the mid 80's that I proudly own that big locker they put out a few years ago.

I've got Reflections In A Golden Eye in from Netflix, and seasons 3-5 of OZ sitting there along with the other Criterion Blu-rays I've gotten. I saw Shallow Grave last night, and I liked it well enough. Christopher Eccelston plays a creepy "villain" in the film.

Yeah,Nolan must've realized he couldn't make another TDK crime epic again, so decided to just have fun with the whole thing. More comedy, more gadgetry, more comic booky. It was the tone I'd been looking for in a Batman film.

dude hallenbeck, I thought The Bat was...Awesome!  However, it is unusual to not see Batman tool around in his Batmobile.  It might be the first Batman film without  it.  Sure, Bane had 3 tumblers, but not like Bruce Wayne's tricked out ride!  I wouldn't have minded...More Batman, but the amount of...death, destruction, and  collateral damage lessened his extended cameo in his own film.

Saw the new Taken 2 trailer in front of Dark Knight Rises. Still hoping that "Rendezvous" is the subtitle.

Catching up:  Saw THE DARK KNIGHT RISES at the midnight show and dug it.  Some narrative issues aside, it delivered the action goods.  Could've done with less Bat-Plane-Jet-Thing but liked Bane a lot.   Revisited David Mamet's HEIST yesterday and it holds up as great as ever.  The first time I saw the film during its theatrical run, I felt like Mamet might have been coasting a little with all his crosses, double crosses, triple crosses and self-conscious dialogue.  But beginning with my second viewing and continuing on I've grown to love every frame of the film.  One of Gene Hackman's last great performances (alongside the lighter comedy of The Royal Tenenbaums), strong stuff from Lindo, DeVito, Rockwell, Ricky Jay and Rebecca Pidgeon with a terrific score by Theo Shapiro.   A great story of age and experience.

Also caught up with Elia Kazan's ON THE WATERFRONT (free outdoor screening, digital) -- which actually played on Boston's Atlantic Avenue waterfront walkway on Friday -- and Joe Dante's THE 'BURBS at a midnight screening (on film) last night.  OTW is still great, it was fun watching it with ships coming in and out on our own harbor behind the screen and the crowd totally ate it up.  'BURBS still has some conceptually iffy moments but mostly holds up... and some scenes were funnier than I remembered.

In fact, Boston's about to get crazy with cool screenings of older films in the coming weeks.  Many free and outdoor screenings, too.  Get this...

JURASSIC PARK (on film) Monday night.

JAWS (digital, free outside screening) July 27

ARACHNOPHOBIA (on film) July 27 & 28

THE PRINCESS BRIDE (digital, free outdoor screening) Aug 3

THE LOST BOYS (on film) Aug 3 & 4

MANHATTAN (on film) August 6th

THE BIG LEBOWSKI (on film) August 13
