Trailer for "Need for speed"

Okay, I am ridiculously excited for that movie.

So it's a more sombre Fast And Furious?

Nah....its looks so-so to me. Nothing really to get excited about. I would say that one franchise about revenge and fast cars is more then enough...but we will see next year...

I'll give it a look. Because of Aaron Paul mostly.

Totally not necessary.  But then again, in the last film Rambo said something about going home to see his father, didn't he?

I'd almost want to see something for the sole reason of seeing who'd be cast as Mr. Rambo Senior.

Eli Wallach?  Gene Hackman?  Martin Landau?  Max Von Sydow?  Ed Asner?  James Garner?

My top three suggestions...

3.  Michael Caine

2.  Robert Duvall

Rambo is part Native American, right?  So his dad would need to be played by someone a little more 'exotic'.  'Fat Indian Cop' from DHWAV isn't an option.

Eli Wallach would work from your suggestions.  If Lee Van Cleef were still around, he'd be perfect.  (Just realised we went through The Good, The Bad and The Ugly for Daddy Rambo actors)

Better GRINDHOUSE spin-off - MACHETE or HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN? Rodriguez backlash be damned, I'm team MACHETE.

I hope Need For Speed has a lot of FOREHEAD VAINAGE from Aaron Paul whenever he's pissed. Sounds like I'm making fun of it, but it looks cool. Like a RAGEMETER for him!

Rambo's Dad? I'm all for the suggested guys. Native American looking or not. Especially Clint. That would be so awesome.

Got in an Amazon order of Behind The Candelabra, Snake Eyes, and Frankenstein's Army. All on Blu-ray. Watching Behind The Candelabra now. Of course I saw it during its initial airing and it has fast become a favorite film of mine. Really well done and pretty damn funny too.

Snake Eyes I haven't seen since catching it in the dollar theater back in the day with my Parents. It will be nice to revisit it. Frankenstein's Army was a blind buy for 10 bucks and the trailer for it looked not bad.

Hobo With a Shotgun way more WTF (school full of kids brutally murdered! *shudder*) those mudering robots and really just disturbing in general and Rutger Hauer was just remarkable and liked his little struggle of wanting a Lawnmower and the of evil guys was just well done! It was like Mad Max meets Escape from NY!

While Machete really just bored me and took itself to seriously and none of character or actors were really good at all. When I'm cheering for Steven Segal that's just no good at all! Apart from DeNiro everyone was very meh! Felt like a retread of his El Mariachi film and Banderas is way better and even Once Upon a Time in Mexico was at least even though less sensical. But honestly that's why Machete failed. I hope Rodriguez learned his lesson after this, I think so but not convinced I'm more interested for Sin City 2.

Also where's Werewomen of the SS co-starring Nicholas Cage as Fu Manchu!

Dammit Zombie get to work and make that! Though Lords of Salem was in the right direction for him. Honestly that's on my top ten most underrated films of the year list. I actually thought it was one of the better horror films of the year.

That's a hard one! I'd go with HOBO - barely - but that may change when I've seen MACHETE KILLS . But really, I enjoy both.

There's a great interview with thread legend Nic Cage over at The Grauniad. Pull quote: "To hear him describe it, Cage's own moods only exist to service his work. Being happy or sad is not the point, he says, with magnificent grandeur: "I invite the entire spectrum, shall we call it, of feeling. Because that is my greatest resource as a film actor. I need to be able to feel everything, which is why I refuse to go on any kind of medication. Not that I need to! But my point is, I wouldn't even explore that, because it would get in the way of my instrument. Which is my emotional facility to be able to perform.""

It hurts me deeply that he thinks my love for him holds even a hint of irony.
Nic Cage is one of th greatest living actors who truly knows how to put on a show. Too many "actors" don't even have a clue that that is one of the major reasons why they don't click with audiences. I know that's probably the major reason why we all love these action giants.

Oh yeah...Clint would be awesome. I can all ready picture the scene when Rambo shows up at the door and says something like "Hi pop"...and Clint makes that face from Gran Torino and then turns around toward him...

Last night I watched an interesting, slightly Tarantino-ish Drama JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE NIGHT. The film captures a night in 'dark and decadent' Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a divergent collection of odd characters whose paths converge on and result in a high end drug deal gone bad. The film stars Brendan Fraser, Mos Def, and the great Scott Glenn.

It seems that Stallone will not be involved in the Rambo TV show. Can you imagine another 50+ year old guy adopting the Rambo mantle? It seems unlikely to me. What other choice do they have, the boring route where they just start over and adapt the story for the present day with a young guy back from Iraq instead of Vietnam?

The whole idea is stupid.

Reinvent Rambo as originally written and make a film series out of that.  That's a challenge.

Watching the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Season 2 series right now. Mark Dacascos isn't bad and its nice to see the eps in a more connected storyline together.

After Annihilation that killed any excitement to see any MK adaptation. I've heard good things I might watch this, though unsure. Used to love playing the video game especially with Milena, Sindel and Sheena.

Okay, i've finished the whole thing. The acting is better in Season 2 and there are some great fatalities (especially the Sub Zero one)

But

1) None of the fights are particularly memorable

2) The island setting looks drab.

3) Ends with another bullshit cliffhanger (At least give us a satisfying end fight!)

Is Sheena in this? She was my favorite character in the game.

No.

Oh that sucks. So what I gather its very similar to the first movie with focusing on Jax and Sonya Blade. That's not a bad thing though since they are the more relatable characters in the game. I just would of thought Sheena would have made an interesting underling for the heroes to fight.

It's tough for me to choose as they are quite different from each other in just about every way, trying to do the same thing but using different methods. The latter is certainly more over the top but I enjoy both personally.

What an odd main cast; I might find it interesting if I ever watch it myself and I am sure I'd enjoy the Brazil setting given that I know it was actually filmed there.

Why the hell would you do it then? I don't know if many people would want to see someone else as John Rambo; I sure as heck don't.

Sheeva is one of my favorites too but I bet they don't want to go through all the effort needed for a four armed character.

Since Rodriguez actually got Seagal to *gasp* have some actual FUN and be a bit SILLY I give the edge to Machete. However, I dig Hobo With A Shotgun for just being a down and dirty exploitation film.

Took my Mother out for dinner today to eat Chinese food as well as to pay her AT&T bill and to go to Target where I got an iTunes card, a USB drive with 16GBs since I've needed one for a long time, and these things have REALLY become cheap. I also got Hannibal: Season 1 on dvd.

Got two things in the mail today. 300 on Blu-ray (it's in one of those cool book packaging things. Digibooks they call them). I also got Ren And Stimpy: Season 3 And Some Of 4.

Watching Snake Eyes on Blu-ray right now. I'd forgotten that the whole opening sequence is one unbroken shot. That is so cool. Also cool is NIC CAGE as RICK SANTORO. He's so WIRED in the beginning as only NIC CAGE can be.

Would love a Special Edition of SNAKE EYES that includes/restores original ending. Love Nic Cage in it (in a over-the-top performance that contemporary Sean Penn ripped him for - ending their friendship) Also wish Will Smith hadn't dropped out to do WILD WILD WEST. The twist with him revealed as bad guy woulda been cool, and i geek out imagining he and Nic Cage playing off each other.

Hey Eko - you own DORM THAT DRIPPED BLOOD? A blind order for me, but i've heard it's a pretty great Slasher.

It was supposed to come out in January. Was just recently pushed back to April 11th of next year.

Picked up Lambert's FORTRESS on Blu-Ray. Didn't even know it had been released. It's an Echo Bridge disc so I'm not expecting much, but it should be an upgrade over the full frame DVD. Now where's GUNMEN?

Moltisanti, Thank you for the Update. I don't understand why Sabotage would get a release date...1 Week After Captain America The Winter Soldier.

Hey Molt - GUNMEN is on Netflix Instant (in HD)!

Thanks for the heads up! Wasn't aware it was on there in HD. Love Patrick Stewart's role as Loomis. Still his best work playing a character confined to a wheelchair.

Little would he know that it turned out to be prep work for one of his biggest roles later.

Did you check out the new Mortal Kombat: Legacy webseries, Molt?

No, I saw a little bit of the first batch and it just didn't do much for me. Is the new series an improvement?

Not really. It's a step back in my opinion.

Still its nice to see Mark Dacacos and Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa again. Along with Casper Van Dien.

Cant wait to see Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa in the 47 Ronin

Premium network EPIX gets special with the effects when it presents “All Hallows’ Evil” Halloween marathon, October 30-31. The evening features 9 demonic-plagued films, including the World Premiere of the EPIX Original Documentary Nightmare Factory at 8pm on October 30th.

Nightmare Factory, is a 90-minute documentary about the acclaimed Osca-winning Hollywood special effects house KNB, responsible for creating The Walking Dead zombies and the makeup effects for close to 1000 feature films.

Directed by Donna Davies (Zombiemania), the doc is the story of how one Pittsburgh boy’s fascination with monsters drove him to the very top of the Hollywood food chain. In 1989, Greg Nicotero, much to his parents’ chagrin, quit medical school and headed for Hollywood to pursue a dream of making monsters.

Together with gore masters Howard Berger and Robert Kurtzman, Nicotero went on to create KNB EFX Group, one of the most prolific makeup effects studios in the world.

After twenty years as the “go to guy” for the world’s most successful horror/sci-fi films, Greg Nicotero is the first one directors like Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez call.

Those appearing in Nightmare Factory include George A. Romero, John Carpenter, John Landis, Tom Savini, Frank Darabont, Quentin Tarantino, Robert Rodriguez and “The Walking Dead’s” Norman Reedus and Laurie Holden. In addition to Nightmare Factory, the evening of horror and ghoulish makeup effects include the films Evil Dead II (featuring effects from KNB);Paranormal Activity 3PumpkinheadPumpkinhead II: Blood WingsThe Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghosts of GeorgiaThe BayThe Devil Inside and Cheerleader Massacre

That documentary actually is something I would like to see. I've known about the company for years and it'd be interesting to learn about what they do.

Earlier tonight I did see a movie that Rene watched a few days ago and didn't care for: Gang Wars, i.e. the genre-mixing movie from the 70's starring a black dude named Warhawk Tanzania. I agree with Rene. It just isn't all that fun to watch. You don't care about any of the characters or what they do, the action is meh, there's no gore in the horror parts with the creature, and the ending is literally too dark and how it ends is LAME. I did not think it was awful as I sometimes did laugh (Warhawk is a pretty horrible actor, BTW, and I did laugh at that too) and the fashions/music was groovy. It was also a nice look at 70's New York City, although there are plenty of better movies/videos you can watch to enjoy that. I was just hoping it'd be better; the real low budget was a big factor in how it turned out.

Yeah, what are they thinking... But I'm not surprised Nu Image/Millennium is trying to get their first foray into TV, it's probably a matter of time before they make series instead of DTV movies.
