DVD layers look like coffee stains, is this a problem?

If a DVDs layers look like coffee stains is there a problem with the disc or will there eventually be a problem? I've encountered this more and more lately and I want to know if I should take the discs back and exchange them or not worry about it. There's no scratches on the bottom of the discs, but the layers look like coffee stains instead of the natural solid usually seen. Any help would be much appreciated.

I think I know what you're talking about as some of mine have a similar look to them. The ones that do have it play fine, though, so I don't think it's an issue.

That's the glue between the two layers "rotting". At least, that's what I've read elsewhere. Basically, the layers are becoming separated. You can notice the effect when the layers change somewhere in the middle of the movie and you get skipping/pixelation/freezing.

There's a short paragraph in this article.

As to whether it's a long term problem, I don't think DVDs are old enough yet to tell. All the dual-layer DVDs I've noticed with this cloudiness/coffee-stain appearance do skip while switching layers, but I haven't noticed any other problems while playing them.
