Did anyone here like "Dark Water?"

I'm still trying to decide whether or not I wasted 3 bucks on the rental.

If you've seen The Ring, you've seen Dark Water.

I'm thinking you should have joined the William Shatner DVD club!

I've seen the Japanese original, but not the American remake. And no, I didn't care for it. There's something very wrong with Hideo Nakata, who seems to fervently believe that there's something deeply terrifying about water seepage. I don't share his dread. I just couldn't bring myself to watch the same story again just because it now stars white people.

I love the original Japanese version of Dark Water. It´s my favourite among the recent wave of asian horror films.
Dunno about the American remake, though. But if you want a good Jennifer Connelly horror film, then check out Phenomena.

I loved Jenn, especially when she was wet. But this was no horror movie. It was more like Divorce Court. On the back of the DVD it said it was "more terrifying than in theaters" Geeze, if that's true I feel sorry for the people who saw this in the theater.

I kept sitting there going, "Okay, 15 minutes to set up the characters, it should start getting good.........Okay 30 minutes, any time now.....god is this movie ever gonna end!!!"

Really disappointing. Should've rented "Into the Blue" instead. At least Jessica Alba is in a bikini for most of that one.

I loved the shit out of Dark Water. Maybe I wasn't expecting much, but I just really enjoyed it. It was atmospheric, the acting was solid and it looked beautiful. I don't really consider it a horror, since it wasn't scary - but as a thriller I think it worked just fine.

I love Phenomena. It's completely insane. There's more going on in that movie than in any three horror films.

I thought John C. Reilly and Tim Roth were really good in supporting roles, and while Connolley was a good lead, these two had a number of surprising, funny and unsettling moments. Essentially, it's a horror film about NYC apartments... you probably need to live in one to get the full affect.

And I think Nakata has less of an obsession with water than he does with mothers. Or vaginas.

A lot of interesting characters in a cool setting with absolutely NOTHING to do.

I thought 'The Pirates of Dark Water' was a great cartoon. Not as good as 'Thundaar, The Barbarian' but still pretty damn good.

The irony of your post is that the show originally was shown as just Dark Water. They added "Pirates of" later, for some reason. And yeah, that cartoon was damn cool.

Exactly.
