Other Regions, Empty Wallet

Living in the US, I just got a region free DVD player that plays NTSC and PAL.

So...I'm open to recomendations. Already picked up Spaced and Eccleston's Doctor. To give an idea of general tastes*, have US or Canadian editions of Brotherhood of the Wolf, Black Adder, Red Dwarf, Coupling (so sue me, I like the cast), Infernal Affairs, Versus, Cowboy Beebop, Wicked City, Farscape, B5, American Gothic, Profit, the Yojimbo movies (including Zatoichi vrs), Aragami, the original Vampire Princess Miyu, So Close, The Eye 1 & 2, Ringu, Fight Club (SE), Memento, Usual Suspects, Clue, The Princess Bride, Ghost in the Shell, Ultraviolet, Monty Python (all of it), Eddie Izzard, almost everything by Peter Jackson, UnDead, the Evil Dead flicks in various forms (not every edition), Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Quick & The Dead (Raimi), Henson Studio's The Storyteller (original & Greek Myths)...just off the top of my head.

*Yes, some of these are American, this is just a cross sampling of tastes...plus if there's a superior non-region1 edition, hey, I wanna know.

I saw this thread covers where to buy: http://chud.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87812

Get the Italian CEMETERY MAN release.

I saw the film ages ago, half asleep...is there a signifigant difference with the Italian version?

PS: I only speak and read english with any speed. Important consideration.

It's uncut and the only other option is, I think, a Spanish disc. Not in print in North America.

And the disc has both an English track and subtitles, so no worries.

Although there's the upcoming Anchor Bay SE.

Being that it just got delivered yesterday and is fresh in my mind--Flash Gordon: Silver Anniversary Edition from the UK. DTS, Anamorphic picture, and Brian Blessed Commentary, all wrapped up in a nifty brushed metal case.

Look Around You.

And the Phantasm ball, of course.

Which will actually just be a randomly selected ARMY OF DARKNESS or HALLOWEEN disc in a Cemetery Man case.

Really, fuck Anchor Bay. All the more reason to buy the import.

Fixed.

EDIT: There seems to be a big difference between Anchor Bay US and UK. The R2 version of the company does some pretty great stuff. Here in the US, the catalog is a parade of rereleases and spotty work. I don't know anything about their Cemetery Man plans -- if from the UK the disc is probably worth a look. The movie is good enough that any R1 release is also intriguing, but I'm sick of supporting that company. I'd rather send my dollars somewhere else.

Russ, the EVIL DEAD quadruple-plus dips notwithstanding, Anchor Bay has and continues to put out some great stuff. They're pretty well respected in the business. What happened to incur The Wrath OF Russ?

Those still angry about Fistful of Dollars, Dynamite, and For a Few Dollars More can snatch up Fistful of Dynamite for £7.97 right now on amazon.co.uk

The two remaining Dollar films are still £15.99 - £19.99

All three are £7.49 at Play.com, A Fistful of Dollars is £6.99 at CD-Wow.com. Both places have free delivery.

EDIT: It seems Play.com only ships to Europe nowadays.

The Flash Gordon DVD has a Brian Blessed track? MUST...HAVE.....

I do feel the urge to defend Anchor Bay when it comes to TV shows....shows like Profit would have never wound up on DVD if not for them.

EDIT: £7.49 is about $13.
Upon attempting to register with play, the "country" scroll thing in the register process lacks Canada, boooooo.

It seems they've stopped shipping outside Europe since I last checked. That's a shame.

CD-Wow still ships to North America, but they don't seem to have Fistful of Dollars right now.

No don't sweat it, I got one from cd-wow and another from Sendit....

Funny thing: I went back today to order another pair for someone I know who asked me to order them for him, price went from £7 to £20

Sucks for him.

Knowing now that I can access this stuff with free shipping I compared some releases i'm looking forward to and noticed that Curse of the Were-Rabbit's Region 2 release is 2 discs....thnking of importing that rather than buying it here.
