What a terrific season, I still think S4 is the best. Fuck you Shane, Fuck you to hell and die, what a despicably cowardly thing to do, I understand he was trying to protect his family and he at least tried to talk to Lem beforehand but, fuck, after all the shit Shane got himself into last season and having Lem bail his ass out of trouble, Shane kills him with a grenade, A FUCKING GRENADE.
Forest Whitaker was just brilliant this, he actively saw this as a challenge to take down Vic in the beginning, it's the same mentality that Vincent Hanna has in Heat, he lives and breathes the job, so much so, that he cut himself off from his wife when she needed him most. His tirade in the office was magnificent, full of rage, frustration, contempt, I thought he was actually going to stammer at one point, the rage just choking him so much, him exploding with rage in that room after the Mackie conversation just said so much about his character. I actually thought his relationship with his wife might've been violent on his part, her sleeping with Mackie was a total fuck you to Kavanaugh, I thought he would've beat the shit out of her or Vic but it never happened, all I could think of was Paul Giamatti's line from Shoot 'em up 'Tit for Tat Mr. Kavanaugh'
Nice to see Claudette finally bag her killer, even though it took a toll on her health, his 'guess who's in hell now' made me want kick his face in. I'm so glad Danni put that rookie in her place, she spent the first few seasons just whining and when she bawled out Danni who was trying to help her, it made her look like a spoiled brat.
Billing's trying to interject while Corrine confronts Danni was brilliant.
The greatest coup of this series? Making Laura Harring look average.
