Fast Food Hoedown

McDonalds - Burgers probably taste the least like something resembling beef, but their fries are still second to none. I love their sausage egg McMuffins, even though they are giving me cancer.

Burger King - Funny ads do not great burgers make. Fairly flavorless and unsatisfying, and their fries aren't anything worth eating.

Wendy's - Good burgers, usually molten hot, which is a plus. Fries range from fantastic to plastic, depending on the batch you get.

Checkers - Burgers are decent, but they're one of the few fast food joints that puts mustard on their stuff, so that's a plus. Soggy fries, but still delicious.

Sonic - Hamburgers are virtually identical to Wendy's. Fries are no good, but their tots are retro-cool. Good dessert and drink selection makes up for lack of great sides and small portions.

Whataburger - Crappy fries, great burgers that are slightly better than Wendy's.

Hardees - The king of all things tasty - hearty, tasty burgers, good fries and breakfast biscuits that taste like God.
I agree with pretty much everything except 3. Hardee's and Checker's I don't have here so I can't compare. And Burger King? I know you're in Florida but the BK Texas Double Whopper is a coronary waiting to happen but holy flip it's delicious. And they have really good fries - at least my BK does.
How could you forget:

Chick-fil-A - Nectar of the Gods. The chicken biscuits are as good as fast-food gets.
Thread Starter
Chic-fil-A is over-priced for their portions.

And maybe it's just my area, but I haven't had a satisfying BK burger in a while.
Arby's is the most egregious when it comes to high prices, although I still prefer their roast beef sandwiches to most fast food burgers. And the curly fries are pretty tasty.
The Burger King in those commercials continues to scare the fuck out of me.

And lest we forget: White Castle. Fries are shit. Love the burgers to death, though. Where else can you order 200 hamburgers and not expect to be stabbed to death by the stunned employee behind the counter?
Back when I was really fat, I liked that double bacon cheeseburger at Hardee's. Hardee's would be great if it wasn't for all the stinky bums that hang around the place and the terrible service. And, no, it's not just the local Hardee's. I have found this to be a universal trait of the Hardee's chain.

And, Werbal, no love for the McGriddle? It is the undisputed king of the breakfast sandwich world!
McGriddles are better than sex. And slightly less lethal than the AIDS that follows.
Chik-Fil-A and Taco Bell are the stuff.
Taco Bell was my place for awhile, but I seem to find myself switching over to Bueno. Although neither of them hold a nut to the Taco Cabana. THAT'S good stuff.
Recently I've become a huge fan of Arby's ChickenBaconSwiss.

Though Chick-Fil-A will always be at the top of my list.
Just reading this thread is giving me the shits.

Taco Bell is good because it's cheap. But I prefer Tijuana Flats or Moe's for Mexican food. A mega-juana chicken chimichanga from Tijuana can keep me full all day.
When I'm feeling a little weak and undisciplined, I'll grab a chicken sandwich combo at Wendy's. But I've seriously taken pretty much every franchise out of my life permanently. I recommend the same to everyone reading this. Also, soda is right out. It really feels great once you're away from that crap for a few weeks. Try it, seriously.

Hardee's Monster Burger will consume your soul as you eat it. Then within 4 bites it will make your heart stop and you will feel the sensation of death. But I'll be damned if you'll still finish that fucking burger.

No In-N-Out? In-N-Out is the gold standard for fast food.

Thunder = Stolen.

In-N-Out for burgers. McDonalds for fries.
Would QDoba or Tokyo Joe's qualify as Fast Food?
They have beer.
If not then as far as burgers I gotta go with "GOOD Times" (might only be in Colorado)
and I haven't been to a mcDonalds in over a decade.

I'd much rather be caffeinated and feel like shit than dare give up soda. What's next...giving up coffee?!

I have love for Jack In The Box, even if the employees there always seem to be high. Arby's is also awesome. But oh, how I miss Carl's Jr. and Sonic. I don't have those anywhere near me anymore.
I actually really like Burger King fries.

I haven't had true "fast food" in a long time, though. I think the closest I come to fast food these days is like, Subway.

If you have a Carl's Jr. it's the same thing. They bought Hardee's and merged the menu vastly improving it.

We have a chain (I assume it's local) called Cookout. Good burgers, but their real star are their milkshakes. Love me the Sonic Coney. Taco Bell is good but a visit to a Taco Bueno near Dallas sold me. Zaxby's, Moe's, and Fuddruckers though not "fast food" per se are closer to fast food than a real sit down joint and they own!
Krystals (the South's equivalent of White Castle) are like crack for me. I can eat a bag of ten no problem.

And Checker's fries rule the earth.
Who likes Arby's? Has anyone ever been there more than once?
I suppose Krystal wouldn't be good if I wasn't brought up on White Castle's in St. Louis. We moved down to Alabama, so I went to Krystal because it looked like it was the closest I was gonna get. Doggy turds, man. Nothing compares for me. I'd rather buy the frozen White Castle burgers from Wal-Mart.

Arby's Turkey Ranch and Bacon Market Fresh Sandwich is my favorite meal from any fast food chain, but I'm rarely able to drop the 7-something it costs. As for the cheaper stuff, I'm still a plain-ol' Big Mac fan.

White Castle, or sliders as they're known. You can imagine why. Only good when very, very drunk.

Wendy's has the best burgers in my opinion. There's something about Burger King that makes me sick to my stomach every time I eat them. Must be that flamebroiled flavoring.

Never heard of Checker's or Whataburger but I hear we're getting an In-N-Out soon so I'm excited about them simply due to their reputation. Haven't seen a mention for Rally's yet - they have a great burger and the fries are pretty good too.

Grinder's has terrific subs and Chick-fil-A has the best chicken sandwiches. Never bothered to taste anything else from their menu.
I am a complete Chipotle's addict, by the way. Not sure if that counts.

Man, no love for Steak & Shake? Great "Steakburgers" and great milkshakes.

Agree with the Hardee's love. And I have a good ol' steak quesadilla from Taco Bell about once a week or so.

And yes, Chipotle is the shiz-nit. I had lunch there today, as a matter of fact.
The Burger King original chicken sandwich is the greatest fast food invention of all time = fact.
I'm sincerely not being facetious or pious when I submit that many of you will die young.

It take me as much effort keeping a decent 5-a-day regime of goodness as anyone (more like 3-a-day) and I love my uber-rare meat and my drinks, but I'm truly glad we have about four fast food chains in this country - counting the relatively shite-free Subway - and I might step into them once every couple months, if that.

I caught Super Size Me again this week on the tube. It maybe Vegan-friendly propaganda, but it's effective.

I feel lethargic just thinking about the crap I used to shovel down my throat each lunch hour when I was a till jockey 5 years ago.
Has anyone ever been to Crown Burger in downtown Salt Lake City? I'm not sure if it's a chain or not. You get a massive burger piled high with pastrami. It's like an edible fucking heart-attack, but goddamn is it tasty!
we have a local chain called COOKOUT- The burgers are small but are the best burgers in the triangle and triad area of North CArolina.

Burger King- I only get the Whopper w/cheese combo.
McDonald's- Big Mac combo. great fries when hot.
I'm liking their new chicken sandwiches though.
Wendy's- I love their Jr. Bacon Cheeseburgers! their fries are soggy shit.
Chick-Fil-A best chicken sandwiches period
Taco Bell/KFC combo Nothing is better than having a choice of fried chicken or burritoes. Both menus rock the house.

As for reality- I'm always broke and hate to wait so whereever I go I order the #1 combo no matter what it is.

When the person working the register still doesnt know how to type in a #1 combo I refuse to go to that location ever again.

Sorry, man, but you sort of lose credibility when you say this then admit to being a Chipotle addict. Chipotle's good, absolutely, but it's not really any better for you than fast food (which technically it is, since it's owned by McDonald's).
It's only in New Zealand and Australia I think, but Oporto's does pretty good burgers and great chips (sorry, fries).

I think I need a salad, pronto.

Damn I miss Rally's. They all closed down in my area. The last one open was in a shitty part of town so it was all the more adventurous going there. A good burger is one that you'll risk getting shot in the face for.
We have a locally owned and operated chain in Louisiana called Cane's. The only thing they sell are chicken fingers, fries and garlic bread, but it's really some of the best shit I've ever tasted. I stopped eating fast food years ago, but this is the one place I will cheat for.
The East Coast has a great chain called Five Guys. Pretty much the best, saltiest, greasiest burgers and fries you can get. When I'm really in the mood to take some anger out on my stomach I get myself some (which, thankfully for my stomach, is pretty rare).

Absolutely. Crown's is a ritual for us before any concert or game at the Delta Center, as they have the best burgers in SLC, as far as I can figure.

Oh, and the worst fast food in history has to be Central Park. I can't believe I used to eat there in high school when I was still fat. That gives me nightmares to this day.

Crown Burger in Salt Lake has the BEST burgers, fries, and fry sauce you can find anywhere. So very, very delicious.

There's also a (kind of) fast food place all over Utah called Cafe Rio. It's tex-mex food and it. is. fantastic. The service is pretty quick, and the pork is out of this world. Several Jews have lost faith over this pork, I kid you not. It's incredible.
Back when I was an omnivore, Wendy's was the place to go for fries and chicken sandwiches (prior to everyone else jumping on that particular wagon), and BK was the place to go for Burgers... 99 cent Whoppers? How can you go wrong!

Of course, I live on the East Coast, so we don't have the variety of options you West Coast and South folks have.
Hardee's is gross, esp highway Hardee's. Maybe they've improved recently, but they used to be the worst of all the street meat chains.
Baja Fresh is the best Mexi-fast food.
I loved Roy Rogers as a kid but I don't think they exist anymore.
Everyone says Culver's is the king shit. But I have to taste their food.
Every other fast food joint besides Wendy's gives me the wicked rhea.
I love fresh (and piping hot) White Castle sliders but i got food poisoning there once.

I stayed in that Econolodge right across the street from Crown Burger the night before and night after an eight-day backpacking trip. Bookending the hike with Crowns was pretty great.

And Five Guys is also fantastic, but I can only eat there once a quarter or so.
I've got to say that Wendy's spicy chicken sandwich is my favorite, especially now that they're doing that whole campaign for choice thing. The spicy chicken with pepperjack cheese and ranch is my new favorite.

We don't really have Chik-Fil-A's out here except in malls, so I'm not too familiar. But I do know that their chickeny nuggety things are fantastic.

When I lived in Phoenix I was introduced to In and Out Burger. For those who have never heard of this Mormon Family owned franchise, the In and Out menu consists of the following: Burgers, fries, sodas, shakes....that's it. No fuckin' chicken selects, no messing around, just phenomenal burgers. On top of that there are "secret" ways to order a burger that is not listed on the menu, like a "4 x 4 burger" or having it "Animal Style." During the summer of 2002, In and Out's popped up all around the Valley of the Sun and were open all hours of the night. It was perfect becuase my friend and I were be getting up at 1 or 2 in the morning to watch the US World Cup games. In and Out is what I miss most about Phoenix.

Carl Jr.s bought them out a few years ago and all (or most) private franchises were bought out. Their quality has vastly improved. Get a six dollar burger. Nectar of the fast food gods.

Oh and Arby's would be good but it's too dang expensive.

I allow myself two 5-Guys runs per year. I've already used my spring trip.
