Awesome; I'll look forward to watching this thing move forward.

Let me just throw this out there: Will Mason is leading man material.

Will is to be featured prominently. Just have to iron out how to handle a scene where Will hands a beat-down to Compost Larry, our homeless batting practice pitcher.

Here's one of the recruiting sessions, possibly the tamest scene in the flick. Fred Kendrick is to be played by Russ Fischer, God willing. I play Balton Aulls and Steve is Paul Mahoney.

EXT. HOME OF FRED KENDRICK. - EVENING

The guys walk up a driveway to a modest home in the suburbs.

BALTON
Fred’s a good guy. I hope he’s stayed in shape since we last saw him.

They knock on the door and FRED KENDRICK, 33 answers. He wears a gas mask above his head but looks otherwise normal...

PAUL
Fred Kendrick, how are ya? You look great!

...except for his MISSING ARM.

FRED KENDRICK
Lost my wing in the war.

Balton is still trying to find a hand to shake.

BALTON
I...

FRED KENDRICK
Keep trying, bud. Sometimes my phantom limb shows up.

Balton puts his arm back at his side.

FRED KENDRICK
What? Keep trying.

He wiggles his right half a little.

FRED KENDRICK
Come on big guy. Let’s see some hand. SHIT!

We see Paul crossing Fred Kendrick off his chart.

PAUL
We’ll get back to you, Fred.

I wish I could help out with the making of this film. Somehow....

Great. You just sold 25 tickets, and that's just to me.

Damn, this sounds awesome. I'm not able to help with the production itself, but I'll be first in line to buy a DVD when this thing is all finished.

That made me laugh. Sounds like this'll be a blast.
This should be good...
Gotta love baseball movies. I'll buy the DVD.

Can I be in it?
I can't wait for the extended DVD.
Sadly, I only got the role of me because Malkovich wanted too much money.

From what I've read so far, this thing's going to be beyond even more twisted than all of you are thinking right now.
What are you guys shooting on?
I've read RON. I can imagine.

Canon XL2's. Hopefully we can find one more, because I want to capture the action from multiple angles. Especially Steve's, um, LOVE SCENE.

Haha, that's great. I hope the production goes smooth. I'd like to see this sooner rather than later.
Xl2, 16x9, 24p...nice!
I'd love to help out somehow.
How long are you guys scheduling the shoot for?
This does sound like it will be pretty good, and if nothing else, fun will be had while it is made. I also wish I liived closer to Atlanta. It would be a blast to help out or be involved in some capacity. Good luck, and have fun!
Just a curious question, how will this movie be released? Will it be direct-to-dvd?

No plans. When it's done, if it's good enough and not shit, we'll do those steps. All that matters now is that we do it our way and have a lot of fun and that the making of it becomes as fun if not more fun. It's why it'd be fun to have a revolving door of Chewers involved.

The more Chewers, the merrier.

I can't think of anything I can do from here, but let me know of anything you think I might be able to help with remotely.
I'll fly down for a weekend or so.
Email sent.
Good luck, guys.
Well, if there's anything I can do out here in the 'burbs, lemme know.
Will Sofia be making a cameo?

There is nothing better than being silly with one's friends. Have fun, Gents.
Damn, this whole finishing college business is really interfering with me actually getting involved with movie productions. I wish you guys the best of luck, Nick & co. I wish I could help (I'm in Texas, but my brother is stationed near Atlanta and I could stay with him in the event I could help), but my only free time between now and the end of May is Spring Break.
Why'd they have to make the south so far south? Damn....

Oh well. Break a leg, gentlemen. Sounds really funny so far.
Micah narrating. Perfect.

Keep us updated.
Glad you're not doing a horror or parody film.

This sounds like it will be like nothing else out there. Good luck!
Spring production? Plan on being in Atlanta in June so I'll probably miss out on the main production how about I spring for a few post-production drinks?
Sounds kind of like the Blues Brothers with baseball instead of music.
Yuk on xl2s. The DVX is where its at. Panasonic's Gamma curves and colors are superior to canon.

What mic, tripod, head, monitors, dolly, jib, lighting are you guys going to be useing?

Oh and what NLE? Got any different lenses?
I made a dolly out of some skateboard wheels, pvc pipes and leftover sections of 1x4, does that count? Actually, it worked surprisingly damn well. Our 15 dollar steadicam works a charm, too.
Yeah theres a lot of skateboard dollies out there. Some companies even sell 18 wheel racks, all you do is add the wood.

What kinda stuff have you shot?

First Draft just finished. 112 pages. Dumbest thing I ever wrote. That's saying something.
Dumb is good, right.

Can't wait to get more goodies from this.
I just finished the first draft and its one of the strangest bits of fiction stuck to a page. That said, its damn hell ass hilarious. I'll leave the bulk of the script talking to Nick and Steve, but I will leave you with this:

You will believe a puppet can fly.
All right, the first table readthrough of the 114 page script was this evening. We held to just under two hours for the entire read, with most people playing several parts. I think things went really well overall and it should really help us find the tiny pieces of screenplay to send back to the humor dungeon. This also means that a handful more peopl ehave now read (and heard) the script. Post-mortem will follow tomorrow or the next day, but I thought you fine people would want to know the score.

Yeah, we went in there with what was actually a 126 page first draft (I used Final Draft's page layout features to squeeze it down to 114) and it really helped me figure out what needed more love and what needed less. This sucker gets to 95 pages or so (uncompressed) and we're in good shape. SOme really big laughs last night. Jesus, some people just knocked it out of the park.
Damn you guys! Sounds likes things are getting there.

Thanks. Am actually looking forward to getting the next draft done.

Very few people read this thread, but if anyone has any deisre to help build the site for this and/or come up with the jerseys for the teams, lemme know.

Cool beans. Good luck, guys!
I'm sitting next to Nick and Steve this very minute as they revise.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

(By which I mean: there is no way you're prepared. As absurd as you assume this will be, it's far more so.)
Just read the blog. It sounds like you guys are cruising right along. Be sure to keep us informed as to when you need help that doesn’t involve website / graphics design.
I read the first draft of this, and it's a riot (and I say that honestly despite my dislike of baseball and my association to the cast and crew). But as Russ hinted, it's fucking OUT THERE. Puppets, a demon clock, interactive narration, clone, host, a different dimension, exploding pants... and softball. Pretty surreal. But funny. I imagine it will hold particular appeal to the insane. If the finished product comes off even half as well as the script, it'll still be half as good. Maybe better.
