The Fifth Element. Could of sworn I had the non-SE sitting on my shelf.

I stole it, why, you want it back?

Last year, I was going to loan Taxi Driver to somebody. I was shocked to find that I don't own it. I still feel like I own it. I need to fix that.

I have a bigger problem with almost buying DVDs I already own. I'll see a good deal in some store, pick it up, walk around with it for a while, and then realize I already own the damn disc.

Yeah, it happens all the time. You look for a movie on your dvd shelf and it's not there. Did I give it to my friends? Did somebody steal it? Did I have it all?

I got fed up with that so I bought a little program called Movie Collector - it's pretty good to keep track of your dvd collection.

Happens to me with Edward Scissorhands. I still don't own it because I keep thinking I do.

Try this when you have kids -- when you're finally sure you have the movie its sitting in front of you coated with peanut butter or a happy face has been carved on the surface.

I really have to get off my butt and backup the collection ...

I had a problem deciding if I owned American Beauty at one time. My girlfriend loaned a few DVDs to her friend and she kept them for several weeks. When I needed to inventory my collection before we moved to a new place I asked her to get the movies back from her friend. She sent all of the borrowed movies back including American Beauty. I spent a few days figuring out if the DVD was mine or not. It turned out that she didn't remember she bought it, and I couldn't remember if I owned it, because I had carried it around the store a few times before putting it back on the shelf each time. So I sent the movie back to the friend.

Once in a while I think about watching that movie and I go downstairs to get it, because I temporarily forget the above story and think I still own it.

I hate when I swear up and down to a friend that I own a certain movie and then come to find out that said certain movie has yet to even be released on DVD.

Makes me feel like an idiot! (of course maybe I am one)

What really used to screw me up was my laserdisc collection (remember those? Ah, the days...). I'd swear I owned certain movies, because I actually did, just not on DVD. And of course, my laserdisc player went into storage long ago.

I may have to dig it out though. My original cuts of the Star Wars trilogy are still around. I should transfer those to DVD.
