Sorry. The article had a typo. It didn't "get" the character wrong. My apologies.

There is some conjecture as to Al Lewis' actual age when he passed away. His family insisists he was born in 1923 and was never a circus barker nor a merchant marine. The story is that he lied about his age to get the part of Grandpa Munster. An A&E Biography of Mr. Lewis reportedly showed a birth certificate substantiating this story. I've never seen it. Personally, if the guy wanted to be 13 years older than he was... Hell let him.

I met Al about 16 years ago. He was scouting a basketball tournament I was playing in, and I was sitting in the stands when he and his partner came over and sat near me. He was a very funny, laughable guy, and he knew his shit about basketball.

I remember he told me a funny story about some players, but for the life of me I can't recall who or what the story was about.
