It seems like Bond is heading in the right direction from this article. Lets hope they don't change anything.

Bollocks.

Sounds rubbish. Bond has never been a vehicle for "edgy" or controversial material, unless the license is in new hands (I haven't been paying attention) I'd be "shocked" if they moved in the direction of reality.

Bullshit or not, it seems more like a generic plot device rather than a "glamorization" of some random family's loss. Damned if I can think of an example at the moment but I could swear there have been other films that had this same (or a very similar) premise.

I wonder how long until the lawsuit is filed.

This sounds like the kind of reactionary bullshit we Brits seem to love latching onto.

I'm sure the Menezes family's reactions are real, but the rest of it reeks of the usual half-assed misinformation that the UK tabloids shat forth whenever a new Bond movie is on the way.

Does this idea of having Bond exposed via CCTV even fit into the Casino Royale storyline?

Sounds like a lame attempt to make a Bond film "politically correct".
Bond is not Politcally correct at all. That has always been part of his appeal.
I read the Evening Standard when on vacation in London, and it did strike me at the kind of newspaper I would put much credence into. Think of it as a NY Daily Post equivilent.

If you want to work in a terrorist angle, make Le Chiffre the paymaster of a terrorist ring, and just take the book plot from there.
I would love to see them actually follow the Ian Fleming novel, but doubt that is going to happen.

Bad choice of words. I should have said trying to deal with serious issues in a O07 film. You could make a good film about a undercover agent who kills the wrong man and is driven by guilt , but not in a James Bond film. They are pretty much over the top tongue in cheek adventure anyway, not John La Carre.
But I have a feeling this rumor is crap anyway.

Im pretty much f the opinion theres no point even giving Bond rumours the time of day these days - theyre 99% uter rubbish

This is clearly cobblers.
Rain Dog is right: These Bond rumours ceased being relevant to reality when they started saying Russel Crowe was a hot contender for the roll.

There's a Casino Royale script review online here:

Also, from Variety:

Quote:
An 007 press conference is skedded today at Prague's Barrandov Studios, where the Martin Campbell-directed pic has been shooting, says Variety.

Though Sony claims no casting will be announced, producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson could use the occasion to unveil its long-awaited supporting cast. But the studio, along with some of the talent's reps, claim nothing's been decided. (Maybe the teaser poster will be released)

Even so, the producers are apparently deciding on a short list topped by Eva Green (The Dreamers) and Olivia Wilde, who had a steamy arc on The OC last season. The producers had earlier approached the likes of Charlize Theron, Thandie Newton and Kimberly Davies. Even if the cast is not announced, the villain role is expected to go to Danish thesp Mads Mikkelsen.

While scrutiny of Bond productions is always high, Casino Royale has been a particular object of curiosity in Hollywood because of how long it's taken to cast. Going into the third week of lensing, key roles were still up for grabs.

Eva Green

Olivia Wilde

Mads Mikkelsen

Yeah, and BBC news.com says that the whole thing that started this thread is, indeed, bullshit.

And I like these latest contenders. Green didn't impress in "Kingdom", but apparently she had 3/4 of her role cut, so that's forgivable. She has an exotic, femme fatale look to her, as does this Wilde girl. I'm glad they are casting less famous actresses. And I like Mikkelsen, he played the long-haired, badass archerwith the hawk in "King Arthur". He had a Christian Bale vibe, and he looks "Evil" and "European", both "musts" for a good Bond film.
