Yeah, and that shit is stupid and tired. It was funny when Conan did the Walker clips once or twice, but then people like you latched onto it, as you do to all stupid fads, and drove it into the ground, then exhumed it, raped it, sent it into the sun, and created a new dumb universe from the resulting Moron Big Bang.

Uh, did you not read my initial post? I wrote that the Chuck Norris craze has been dead for some time. Hence the SNL video being behind the craze, and the Parnell video being ahead of it. At no point did I say either was funny. I posted them in this forum because quite frankly, it doesn't belong anywhere else.

I really don't understand the level of discussion this supposed chuck norris craze has generated. essentially this is the same joke, the ironic worship of a c level celebrity (that plays like someone's original inside joke even though it is neither original or terribly inside), that we've seen to varying degrees with all kinds of actors, ranging from bruce campbell, to mr. t, to david hasselhoff. it's especially prevalent with bad 80's action stars (see: van damme, arnold, seagal, etc..) I don't see why there's such a hubub about this particular iteration of it.

I like him as a comedian and thought it was cool that he not only had great forevision, he enlisted some of my favorite actors to join him (Reilly & Black). Whether or not the video is funny now, is irrelevant. But feel free to continue belittling people. It says so much about the type of person you are.

Chuck Norris has been an international symbol of mirth since WAY OF THE DRAGON in the 70s. The guy's been a fucking joke for a long, long time, especially when Walker first appeared as a series. Stating Conan started it is like saying Joss Whedon created X-Men.

I didn't say Conan "started" the craze, but he certainly catapulted it to a frenzy that went way beyond just internet fan boys. Having people think him a joke is a far cry to having Norris appear on talk shows specifically to talk about internet videos and "facts". Sure Chuck Norris jokes have been going on for decades, but I think its a fair statement to say he "regained notoriety" due to the Walker clips on Conan. I think alot of people who post on here are out of touch with what the average American person is aware of.

Well aren't you special? According to Charles Brigden, Norris has been "an international symbol of mirth" for decades. Sometimes a joke is just a joke. Not every thinks its funny and that's okay. you know, i thought chuck norris was a big joke for a while. I soon found out many things the dude has done that are somewhat cool and respectable. One example is that he beat a guy at sparring, who bruce lee claimed was the "fastest fist". Also, norris was the first westerner in history to gain the highest level attainable at whatever his fighting style is. there's some other shit too but overall he's stopped doing notable things as of recent.

All this bullshit could be avoided if people started threads they are interested in and stopped harping about the threads they think are stupid. But that will never happen because the majority of people on CHUD just want to prove how fucking superior they are by shitting on folks. For all the stupid threads I create, at least I'm attempting to reach out to others. The only thing I see the majority of people in this thread do is attack.

I particiapte in the film threads for the films I have seen or wish to see. Of the threads I've participated in, half the posts are usually people just popping in to say stupid shit, rip on other people, or tell them their opinion of the film is wrong. If you really want to know why no one talks about film anymore (which is untrue, they just talk about films you don't care to discuss), I suggest turning the mirror on yourselves. This whole MB has turned into a hatefest and its not because people post about Chuck Norris.

In any case, this same complaint gets brought up every year and nothing ever changes because there will be people like Brad who thinks its funny to wish death on total strangers. With 15,000+ members on the board, you guys sure get bent out of shape over a very select few.

Its really not that difficult to stay out of threads you think are stupid and encourage discussion in ones you think are good. If you want to know why these threads get more action than film threads, its because people do the exact opposite.
