Hey guys, just logged on to Yahoo! News and what do I see?

Liebesman makes date with a killer

Wed Feb 22, 1:14 AM ET

Jonathan Liebesman, director of the upcoming "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel, is in negotiations to direct the remake of horror classic "Friday the 13th" for New Line Cinema.

"Friday" made Jason, the unstoppable hockey mask-wearing killer, a 1980s horror icon, though the serial killer made only a brief appearance in the final frames of the first movie. Jason didn't even don the famous mask until the third movie.

Jason will wear the mask for the remake, written by Mark Wheaton, which will incorporate components of the franchise's films. The setting will be that of the first movie, Crystal Lake.

Liebesman is wrapping production on the untitled "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" prequel, which, like the "Friday" remake, is produced by Platinum Dunes for New Line.

A Friday the 13th does fall in October this year, and there was speculation that the movie would be made quickly to capitalize on that. But Platinum Dunes and New Line already have scheduled the "Texas Chainsaw" prequel for release that month, on October 6. "Friday" will be a 2007 release.

I think I'm gonna be sick. Hope I'm not the first to break the news.

Gee, if only Dave Davis had managed to get this news up earlier today. Like, say here.

Shit Nigel, you're right man. I mean, you probably knew about this before it even fucking happened. Before the director knew he was even going to be on board because your are just that fine-tuned with what's going on in film. I have really learned my lesson. I should definitely spend every waking moment of my life on these forums trying to stay up to date with the most late breaking of news so in case any of these new little punks just simply love film and want to share info, I can sling my big computerized cock around and put 'em in there place. I tip my hat to you, sir, for a job well done. No ammo in the world like unecessary sarcasm. Peace.

It would be nice if you could even just pretend to read the websites these forums are connected to.

Even though your intentions were good, Dan makes a valid point. And now you've spewed quite the hostile little post, out of a mere two total submissions upon registering.

Good luck.

Unless you're a very slow reader, it would have taken you approximately 30 seconds to check the main page to verify that the news wasn't already posted before contributing your hot scoop. But don't let common sense spoil your righteous indignation.

It's also on the front page of Creature Corner.... but, ok.....

So either way, I'm guessing that most people don't like this idea. I haven't seen Darkness Falls but already got emails from irate people who don't want him touching their Friday the 13th.

Creature Corner's still going ? I clicked on through AICN and thought this was Dread Central.

Also, as Double Davis notes, troubled production like Darkness Falls is a pretty poor barometer of directorial prowess. But why let a thing like the genuine workings of Hollywood cloud a good knee-jerk.
