Anyone else as excited about this as I am?

I know I'm going to lose all credibility for saying this- but...... I've never seen it.

Gah. Be gentle.

Membership Card....REVOKED!

Actually, If you saw Re-Animator, you saw this film as almost it's sequel (We try not to talk about "Bride of Re-Animator"). I've been waiting for this film for a long time, as my VHS copy from years ago is wearing a bit thin. It does have a cheesy 80's quality to it, but that's what makes it great. This, Re-animator, and the Evil Dead(s) are the great genre works of the 80's.

Hell yeah I'm excited! I've tried to find a copy of this forever with no luck, so when I first read the article I lept out of my chair and did a little victory dance. And now it's restored to Gordon's original vision, this is just too good to be true. I can't wait to get my mitts on a copy of this sucker!

Since I hadn't gotten to see it but a couple of times way back then, it will almost seem like a brand new movie now. There's one thing you just can't forget about this film though, and that's how fucking hot Barbara Crampton was in her full on Dominatrix get-up. Oh, mercy!

With this and Slither just around the corner, it's like...pure horror nirvana!
I liked Re-Animator, but when I saw this one, i didn't really like it much. I hope that this restored Director's Cut will be cool. Did anyone See Gordon's Master's of Horror episode? I heard that it was good.
This movie is fucking insane and I love every twisted, deranged minute of it.

Babs FUCKING Crampton!
I haven't seen this either and I'm pumped for it. I remember seeing the movie poster in video stores in like '87 and the image has always intrigued me.
I've been waiting for this to come out on DVD for a while. The version we are gonna get is just icing on the cake.
It's about fucking time! I have been waiting for this to come out on DVD for what seems like forever. I have gone thru 2 VHS copies of this 80's weirdo classic. I guess it's worth the wait if we are actually going to get a full director's cut and some nice extras.
On a side note, I was glad to see Gordon put out yet another cool Lovecraft story for The Masters of Horror series.
I don't know how I missed this news, but FUCK YEAH!!! My VHS copy was ripped off about ten years ago by some crackhead prick that lived across the hall. Is crackhead one or two words?
Is this still coming out on DVD?

Fucking awesome. My buddy and I were just wondering what the hell was up with this DVD. Bring on September.
I'm not believing this until I can actually order it from Amazon.com.

Cautiously optimistic is the best I can do.
I'm not believing this until I see Alex's review on the Corner.
with Barbra Crampton in full Dominatrix regalia screen caps.
Alex, The wait is finally over.

It's released today.
Go to it, Alex. It calls to you.
hahaha. Just writing the dvd column for today (for once) and was wondering how much hazing I was going to get.... glad to see you guys don't disappoint.

I've got my portable dvd player all warmed up. Looks like I'll be taking a long lunch today at work...
I preordered it from amazon last week. I saw that you could get the great '70's horror anthology double feature Tales From the Crypt and Vault of Horror alongside Beyond and save ten bucks. It's a great week for horror DVDs.
Gonna grab this on my way home from work. I haven't seen it since I was a little kid, and I've never seen the uncut version. Can't wait!
I think I too will be picking this up on my way home from school. This movie was a staple of my youth along with Carpenter's The Thing, so it's going to be great to see the uncut version.
Don't forget Scarecrows and The Burning came out today too, guys. Big day for horror dvds.
I won't be able to pick this up until after Thursday, and I seriously can't wait to hold it in my grubby little hands. Think I'm going to get this and the new Hard Boiled special edition that came out a few weeks back.
These discs are pretty scarce in the stores. I had to call Hastings, and it seems they only got one copy of each of the MGM releases today. I had them hold onto a couple of them for me for when I go tomorrow to pick them up.
I dunno, that cover is really hurting me. And I like this movie more than Re-Animator.
Best Buy didn't seem to have a single copy (neither did any other major electronics store), except for Fry's, which had ONE copy, and now none, since I snagged it.

What's the deal? Most of these stores get oodles of dvds of far more obscure stuff.

Sadness= An FYE gift card.

Extra sadness = An FYE gift card and an FYE with no From Beyond.
Couldn't find one either. This is sad.
I think I got the last one at my Best Buy.

Judging from this thread, I may have gotten the last one in the world.
I called Hastings again, about From Beyond so they could hold it for me too, since apparently they had 1 copy of each of the flicks released today, and they told me they didn't have it. Looks like I'll be making a little odyssey tomorrow to track it down. At least I got the only copies of Scarecrows and The Burning.
Best Buys are at least getting in two copies a piece, which is how many my store had when I picked mine up - and I severely doubt any had been sold before I got it.
What a shitty cover for The Burning, by the way. From this:

Word on the street is that they only printed seven. If you manage to find one, you get to go on a dark, nightmarish tour of Vestron Video's printing and distribution facility in Belleville, Kansas.

That's the same thing I thought. They had to horribly photoshop in the hedgeclippers to the image of Cropsy from the hookers' room, in a wooded background, instead of placing that great original artwork.

At least the movie's uncut.
I only checked Best Buy and there were non to be found, though there were plenty of Snoop Dog's Hood of Horror. Guess I'll hit Curcuit City tomarrow.
I just ventured through Hell and one copy of From Beyond liquefied when I picked it up, one copy opened on it's own and grew teeth, and another copy bled out of the sides. That's why it's Hell, I guess.
Shit, I guess waiting until Saturday was not a good idea then. Alas.
I got one of 3 at my local BB.

Watched this twice last night, with and without the commentary track. What a great, supremely weird movie. I didn't remember it as well as I thought, given that I only saw it once as a kid. I don't like it quite as much as Re-Animator, but there's some absolutely fantastic monster stuff here, and some genuinely creepy goings-on. The entirety of the scene of Combs sucking brains in the hospital is absolutely fantastic.

I wish the commentary track had the the blacks fellas who sat behind me in 1987. It cuts to Ken Foree scowling at her, and one guy whispers to another, "look at 'em...all tight-jawed an' shit." I'll never watch this movie and not hear that in my head.

Well I found From Beyond in of all places an H.E.B. Plus supermarket. They have a large section of movies in this particular H.E.B., and they had 2 copies, so I snatched one up. I also found the Tales From The Crypt/Vault Of Horror double feature as well.
so this is a quality disc. it must have been a good 15 years since I last saw From Beyond, happily it's still loads of fun though not quite on the same level as Re-Animator (and neither one dethrones O'Bannon's The Resurrected as best HPL adaption). love Gordon's atmosphere, Ted Sorel's performance and the different forms the Pretorius-Thing takes.

my fave Crampton movie scene is her pivotal contribution to Body Double but she is great in this too, though actually more fanciable with that early scholarly/huge glasses look than in her dom scenes (in an Olivia Newton-John wholesome ≫ leather kind of way). definitely made my penile (sp?) gland expand, I can tell you!

also I had forgotten how completely awesome Ken Foree is in this. SO terrible.

"I know this behaviour. I've seen it in the streets. You may be a scientist, lady, but right now you're acting like a junkie."[/GRANDADWASAPRIESTINTRINIDAD]

and then when he rejects Babs Crampton with her arse hanging out and everything: "look at you! is this who you are?"

even funnier is the way the costume people just randomly threw him into an old football shirt, and later speedos, with which to fight the basement monster. gotta love him.

I saw this screened at the Lovecraft fest last year, with Barbara C. in attendance. It was terrific, and she seemed genuinely excited to be there and talk about the movie.

At one point, they asked the audience how many people had never seen the movie before. I was shocked when the majority of hands went up. Hopefully, the DVD will change that.
