2006 NCAA March Madness Thread - Page 2

I got back yesterday from watching my Hoosiers get beaten by the Zags Saturday Night. Batista absolutely dominated inside. It's a good thing because Adam Morrison looked terrible that game. Batista was listed at 269 pounds and Killingsworth was listed at 268. In person, it looked like Batista outweighed him by a good 20 pounds. Once Killingsworth got his 3rd and 4th fouls (Technical) right on top of each other, it was pretty much over. I've now seen the Hoosiers play in person 4 times and they've lost all 4. I am done attending IU games.

With my heavy Big 10 bias, my brackets are shot. I pretty much have no chance of winning either pool I entered. It's liberating, because I can now root against my own brackets. Go Bradley!
I also had a Big Ten bias. After last year's dominance, who knew? But I've still got Memphis to root for. Other than that I'm rooting for the winner of the G. Mason v. Wichita St. game because my bracket got desphinctered by a salad fork.

Greatest prank in college basketball history

Now this is how you heckle an opposing player. Funny stuff.

That is hilarious.

I would NOT want to be J.P. Batista right now. I can only imagine how badly he's getting destroyed in the locker room for almost singlehandedly losing the game for Gonzaga.

Every bruin fan in the world loves JP batista right now...but fuckin A my bruins fought hard through a lot of mediocre play to be there at the end of the game.

I love it when your sports team bring you down and get you angry only to totally redeem themselves and fill you with a sense of eupohria all within the span of 10 minutes of game time.

Not to get off topic, but I had that exact experience at this year's Orange Bowl.

Now if only Texas can hold off LSU and Memphis UCLA... My bracket might have some life in it yet. And maybe while I'm sitting on my ass, BC can knock off Villanova and get rid of those pesky ONE seeds.
Here's to hoping that BC actually finds its stride at the beginning of the game and knocks out Villanova, so my championship game (UCLA over BC) can still happen.
you can't put all of the blame on to batista. maybe if gonzaga didn't suck it up defensively in the last 3 minutes of the game they would've won. they never should have been put into that situation.

redick makes shammond williams look like a march madness mvp. what a complete choker that guy is. if he get's worn out by a 30 game college season how in the hell is he gonna play in an 82 game nba season?

Well, I took the slightest of leads in the Chud Pick 'em that Stuber set up. In the office pool I'm in, I am 30th out of 50. I don't feel too bad about it after reading the current issue of Sports Illustrated. I did the math on their "Expert" bracket and found that SI would currently be in 49th place in our office pool. One spot ahead of the girl who picked North Carolina over Southern Illinois in the finals. Likewise, most of the experts on ESPN.com had Duke and Kansas in their Final Four. This is why I love March Madness.

That is a great story. I hope Pruitt doesn't find the guy who did that.

The officiating near the end of the Uconn-Washington game made me want to puke. The phantom goaltending call could have changed the landscape of the game. But Washington could have averted all that if Jensen hadn't fouled that guy on the layup with a few seconds left in regulation.
the double T's on roy and gay were pretty bad. a game of that magnitude the ref's probably should've separated them. the nova/bc game had even crappier officiating.

there have been way too many bad games in this tourney. for all the drama we've seen the shooting has been terrible. so many players/teams are choking it up. redick, aldridge, and carney let their teams down big time. ray was a gimp in the bc game as well. he was lucky foye came through. jay wright should sit mike nardi's ass on the bench. he's been sucking it for far too long. he has 13 points in the last 4 game's.

Wow, the Memphis-UCLA game was about as sloppy as you can get. Hopefully UCLA will show up against LSU, who looked sharp as a steak knife against texas. Because of that game, I am now officially starting the "Big Baby Fan Club"
i've been more impressed with tyrus thomas. he is a total freak defensively but ya gotta love a big guy who can run up and down the court and has sweet touch on his shot as big baby davis has.
Oh no! goes to overtime vs UCONN. Shit.
This Mason/Connecticut game is amazing.
And to think people were pissed Cincy(8th in conf) and Michigan(7th in conf) missed the tourney. I heard the CBS people were upset the most. Thank god the committe are letting in some smaller schools to give them a shot. I'm sick of seeing Michigan losing in the 1st or 2nd rd every year.
Woohoo!! The Patriots keep rolling! That was a close one.

One of the worst calls I have ever seen.

#11 George Mason vs
#3 Florida

#4 LSU vs
#2 UCLA

Outside of wherever George Mason is I can't see anyone having this Final 4. And even then I doubt it. When was the last time no #1 seed made it?
1985

(Edited so as not to be wrong)
I guess some guy on Yahoo has the correct final 4 though nobody quite believes it.

I just heard on SportsCenter that, out of over 3 million entries on their March Madness game, 4 people picked the exact Final Four. Now, I am very, very surprised at this. Who in the HELL picks this Final Four? I mean, sure, if you're a GM alumnus/student, MAYBE. But damn.

It's either that or one of those people who fills out as many brackets as they can.

I hate those people.
Or by the teams celebrating victories.

Jesus... that feather boa....

Holy crap.....how the hell do you pick this final four?

Even more:

"According to statistics provided by ESPN, 1,854 of the 3 million brackets had George Mason making the Final Four...Of those, 284 picked the Patriots to win the national title."

Awesome.

Not nearly as impressive as picking the Final Four, particularly as G.M. hasn't won yet.

Somebody bet 20.00 on GM to win on an on-line betting site...that's the only money I've actually heard of being placed on them. The payout would be 8k.

indiana are supposedly hiring kelvin sampson. not bad at all.

UCLA 2005-2006 RETURN OF THE KINGS

Ben Howland is a fucking genius. What a fucking performance. No one gave this team any respect. They called our 7 footer soft. They said we couldn't defend the post. And now the bruins are in the title game on the back of their 7 footer and after shutting down the most overrated big man in the game with a small forward giving up 100 lbs and working on instincts and 5 years of basketball experience.

Fuck yea bitches. FUCK YEA.

45 points? Does UCLA have the greatest defense of all time or something? Christ. I'm still bitter about the '95 title game when UCLA beat Arkansas, but I was very impressed with the Bruin's swarming last night.
Before UCLA's win in the final four, I was 10th in my pool's standings. Afterwards, I was 3rd. If UCLA wins tonight, I win my pool outright. I think I know who I'm rooting for tonight.
for me, this is probably the most unappealing national championship game i can remember.
What an ass-whippin' by Florida. They played an awesome game.

It's good to see the SEC take the title back.
what an ass whupping. hats off to florida, they outplayed my bruins in every facet of the game.
tough luck there fazer. it wasn't their night.
