Flash (Aaa-ah!) advice needed...

OK, I'm still at sub-novice level when it comes to Flash animation, but how do you import cut-out images so that they appear in Flash as cut-outs?

It's probably something stupidly simple, but when I save the images with a clipping path or empty background in PhotoShop, it always fills the background in white in Flash.

I know it's something really easy, as every half-assed Flash animation on the web uses cheap photo cut-outs, but I'm a lazy fucker and can't be arsed ploughing through the manual.

Help!

Don't use a .jpg or a .bmp

Use a .gif or a .png, because those formats preserve the alpha channel (The part that's supposed to be invisible but shows up white.)

Just do all your prep work in Photoshop, export it as a png with alpha channels. The gif file format just handles one level of transparency whereas the png has full alpha channel support.

I have no advice to offer you, but your thread title made me giggle.

I've saved it as a .PNG but it's still replacing the empty area with a white background when I import it into Flash. Is there some setting I need to alter in Photoshop, or is it something I need to do once it's in Flash?
