That's what I heard when I was visiting. Dublin is experiencing a population explosion and new home building can't keep up with the demand, which has resulted in basic 3 bedroom homes going for something like 500,000 Euro a pop.

As a side note, Berlin is extremely inexpensive (my father spends a few months a year there, and he's been able to rent an apartment for anywhere between 200 and 400 Euro a month) but the cost of living is starting to inch up there too.

Just got back from the St. Patrick's Day Parade in southie, where I:
-Got photos of the 501st Imperial Reenactors marching in full Stormtrooper regalia, as well as guest appearances of Darth Vader and Boba Fett
-Climbed onto the roof of a condemned house
-Marched alongside the Dropkick Murphys as they played on a float, with about 100 other diehards followed them for nearly two hours as we evaded police barricades and caused a ruckus in the streets. Southie went fucking nuts for 'em! I guess a little too nuts, because just before the home stretch their float got kicked out of the parade.
-Narrowly avoided getting pinched in mass arrests, and generally continued my career as archnemesis of the Boston PD.

Shut up, you dumb potato eater.

At least he didn't get carted away in the paddywagon.

He's just sour because someone stole his pot o' gold.

I thought they were after his lucky charms.

Any links to said pictures?

You know, I'm sure you're trying to be cynical and scathing by re-posting that picture, but damned if it doesn't make me laugh at it everytime I see it. It's ok for me to laugh though, 'cause I'm mostly Irish. Just like it's ok for black people to laugh at Chris Rock. Of course, we all have to remember to be extra extra careful about what makes us laugh in this day and age though....

They weren't digital, but I'll see about scanning them once I've made some prints.

As for the rest of yas, that wasn't about being Irish, it was about being a dumb punk. Kids in an art school in Boston don't get many chances to act like they're from Uconn.

I can't believe ANYONE, no matter their ethnicity or hue, are able to laugh WITH or AT Chris Rock...

Hey, that's just how I remember it. I got separated from my family with one of my brothers and we were wandering around, it was a really drizzly day so maybe everything just looked grimy-er, but there were tons of old buildings, the streets were uneven and there random dogs wandering everywhere. It was fucking awesome, even though it felt like I was gonna get jumped at any moment.

But ehh, that was nearly 5 years ago, maybe I was just in the wrong neighborhood.

As for Chris Rock, don't give him too much shit. That guy seriously knows how to work a crowd and gets across some important points, if you listen to his standup with a critical ear you can actually 'see' how strategically he puts his acts together. The guy knows his craft.

Limerick = "you'll get stabbed" is such a cliche, hence my remark.

As I recall, there was a stabbing in Limerick in the early 90's, the first of its kind I think, hence the "you'll get stabbed" urban legend. There have probably been a lot more stabbings since then, but back then this was big news.
