G4: Attack of the Show - Page 2

Good interview.

Nick has a great staff! It's because he's Italian.

"...with short bursts across the room."

HAH.

I have to say that Olivia Munn is growing on me. She has a bit more sarcasm to her, and I think she is easier on the eyes than Sarah ever was.

Still, attack of the show needs to find itself. They are stretching themselves way too thin trying to cover movies, tv, music, computers, consoles, internet, geek culture, bad skits, etc. I think they need to cut back their scope because they really do some things well.
If only you pitched that "Jaws was just a SNACK" line with more enthusiasm... It could be great.
I enjoyed it. Look forward to seeing more.

Hell yes. Sarah looked like a man despite the globs of makeup to disguise the fact that she looked like a man. Olivia is a cute one, and she has her one liners.

Did Sarah quit? on vacation?

And funnily enough, just after I make my comment about Sarah, I see that she's leaving the show after Thursday this week. She's marrying Brendan (from the show as well) and they're both leaving the show to "travel the world" after they get married. I have a sneaking suspicion that's why she and Kevin Rose broke up--I guessed that she wanted to get married, and he didn't.

Just typing this to meet the min. character requirement.

Tomorrow night, I'm back! Me, Chris Gore, and a lady from Premiere go off on this summer's crop.

Rip 'um a good one!

Kick some Chris Gore ass Nick

It turns out that Sarah is getting married to that other goofy guy on the show and they both left the show to travel around the world...

Wow Nick, you completely blindsided me with your Miami Vice love. And I thought it was kind of funny how you and the girl from Premiere were giving Chris Gore so much crap.
Your heart was in the right place in regards to getting some "Vice" buzz going.

How is CLERKS 2 not going to be rated R?

Maybe I should wait until I see the piece, but I can't wait.....There's discussion about Clerks 2 not being rated R? The trailer alone is red banded and I doubt the thought of a PG-13 rating ever crossed the mind of anyone on set.
Sorry, I should have clarified. The ditzy broad who was on the panel said she interviewed Smith recently and he said it would be released unrated.

Even unrated I wouldn't have much interest in seeing Smith drift further into oblivion but I can't imagine it will be released wide without an R rating.
nah it's cool, like I said, it's my fault for not watching first. I don't see it being released unrated either. The Weinsteins are still looking for a modest hit right now and since this could definetly make back its budget if released wide makes it a no brainer. Now on DVD, I could see some "Unrated" cut, but it'll be rated R come release day
post #71 of 103
I DVRed this last night just to watch your segment. It was quite amusing.

So from what I gathered... Superman may or may not suck?
I expected more of a fight after your Singer comments. I think you're right about him, by the way.
There a video of this segment around?
After watching last night, it further proves what i've said all along: Chris Gore is a pussy. He seems like such an attention whore and a smartass. Giving love to Nacho Libre, talking about how his "sources" tell him Clerks 2 is rated R. Why the hell did AOTS ever give him a segment in the first place boggles the mind.

I don't know why it was a big surprise that Nick supported Miami Vice. I remember the love he gave for Collateral when it came out, and it was much deserved. Honestly, I look forward to Miami Vice way more than Clerks 2. As for that lady from Premiere, she looked kind of tame, like she was afraid.
nick posted a cryptic one liner in the superman thread a while ago, about hearing from people that superman sucks balls (i am paraphrasing of course)
Missed it. Don't have TiVO. Is anybody going to post a link to a video?
It's not up yet, but it will probably be posted here.

Did anyone see Olivia Munn Throw up on live TV last night!

Hilarious and gross.

G4tv has the clip online but they cut it off the video before you see her Yak.

G4 just called to ask if I'd be on a panel on AotS tomorrow about video game violence...

...facing off against Jack Thompson.

I can't do it. I'm going to Florida. My vacation is now ruined.
That would have been awesome.

The Loop is kind of a joke, though. It always feels like it's a bunch of guys just talking at each other instead of with each other and then Pereira is like, "gee, I guess we'll never get to the bottom of this but thanks anyway."

But, basically, I don't like it because it takes away from time Olivia could be on the screen.
I wish it had been you instead of Sessler, Russ. Sessler just talked over and shouted at Thompson the entire time instead of trying to engage him in any sort of debate. Pretty poor. The guy from Game Daily was good, though.
He was okay, but for that hip-hop comment, someone should've slapped him so hard he forgets math.
That was one of my favorite Loop's ever just because it turned into a shouting match. The producers clearly knew what they were doing by putting Sessler and Thompson together. It wasn't an intelligent debate by any means, but it was funny.
Penny Arcade made some good points about Jack Thompson:

Quote:
Whatever you want to say about Jack, the guy is a lawyer and he knows how to handle himself in these sorts of debates. We all think Jack is nuts but Adam is the only person on that tape who comes off as being crazy. The guy can’t even preach to the choir for God’s sake. Mark seems like a decent guy and he stays calm but I don’t think he did any preparation for this. You can’t go up against someone like Jack and just “wing it”. Jack keeps is cool and essentially runs the show. G4 should have just given Jack his own half hour program. Maybe only schedule twelve re-runs of X-Play and then just slip in the Jack Thompson show.
Ben @ Game Revolution makes some of the same points here. His comments are pretty much exactly what I sent in an email to the G4 producer who called me after Ben and I got off the phone that afternoon. (I recommended him when I couldn't do it. I also recommended Nick and the Penny Arcade boys, who I've never met but figured would be great.)

And it's true -- going up cold against a guy who argues for a living, even if he's a loon, is a sure path to failure. A big part of the reason I said no was that, while I might have been able to alter my travel plans, I would have wanted to spend all the time between the phone call and the taping reading up so that I didn't look like an idiot. I didn't have the freedom to do that.

I guess G4 wanted exactly what they got. Sad that it amounts to the Jerry Springer Games Show.
Its sad because I liked the loop when it first was introduced. Now its just crap. You knew it was going down south when they brought up the Superman Franchise as a topic and as a panelist they got a superman impersonator that hangs out in front of Hollywood Blvd to take pictures with tourists.

The worst was when they had the good old Star Wars vs. Star Trek battle, with the two biggest weenies I have ever seen on that show, and they've had people like Sessler on.

I agree with Gravedigger. Less talk, More Olivia.

Watched it. The drooling dweeb in the center threw you and Gore off. I'd rather they had brought back the Hollywood Blvd. Superman impersonator.
I saw the end of the segment. That Chris Gore "porno" joke-- Snakes on a Landing Strip was unneccessary and unfunny.

Now if he would have said Snakes on a Plane was like Crickets in the Movie Theater.. that would have been funny. or not.

It's Chris Gore. I don't have to say a word to win that argument.
It was nice to see the Nunz in all his snarky glory win that argument based on facial expressions alone. Nick, your reaction shots to some of thier comments were priceless.
Gore is just way too rehearsed and seems to have all his talking points down before the camera goes on. Whether I agree with what Nick is saying or not his words flow out of a normal conversation which is refreshing. Beetlejuice added nothing.

Anybody see that clip at the start of the show of the local newscaster telling Lorenzo Lamas and Robert Davi that Bruno Kirby died? What the hell was that?

I agree Nick was the real shit.

And yeah that reporter was an entire douche.
It seems every time he's on The Loop, Chris Gore tries too hard, and tries to `1 up everyone around him. Dittman from Wireless Magazine has more cred than this guy.
I just wish Gore would stop pouting like a fashion model getting off on his own reflection. It's like he's the fucking Zoolander of geek journalists, and that's no small feat considering how self-absorbed and narcissistic they can be.

But still, he was better than Señor Droolcup in the center square.
Jay Chandrasekhar of Broken Lizard was hosting Attack of the Show with Olivia Munn last night. And while he seems rather STIFF it was still sort of amusing listening to some of his quips.
