(I have sumbitted this news..... But it doesn't appear on the main site. So I post it in here)

Terry Zwigoff will present the new version of BAD SANTA in the festival. (It includes the scenes that aren't even on the DVD)

David Mamet's SPARTAN will also be be shown in the festival. Michael Barker(co-president of Sony Pictures Classics) will come to SPARTAN screening and talk about the movie. It is a big surprise for me. (Warner Bros releaseed this movie, not Sony Pictures Classics)

I'm happy that Roger Ebert still remembers RIPLEY'S GAME.

Dear lord... those three titles alone make me want to get on a plane and go to this thing.

Loved Spartan... same came be said for Bad Santa.

And to think there was a time where I thought that Roger Ebert had squandered what little clout he had by running his show into the ground; I'd probably respect it more if it was shown on PBS.

He really cares about cinema from what I had heard on his commentary in 'Dark City', and his support for overlooked films like Spartan and Ripley's Game really goes a great deal in redeeming himself, in my eyes.

I know I mention this movie nearly every post, but it's no true overlooked filmfest without Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

That said, me want go now.

I never cared for "Ripley's Game", but I adore "Spartan" and "Bad Santa" is indeed great.

I'm one of the lucky few who actually got to see Spartan opening weekend, thanks to the Great Austin Hellboy/CHUD Get-together of 2004.

I live in Champaign Illinois, and already secured tix for the entire festival (wife's an associate U of I professor with a few connections).

Was also one of those who originally caught Spartan in the theaters, and salute Roger's instincts on this one. The extended Bad Santa sounds boffo, great to see Millions getting some love, and the rest of this year's festival lineup looks remarkably solid to boot.

Roger Ebert doesn't like Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, so it isn't a surprise that it isn't in hisoverlooked filmfest .

So.... Will you see SPARTAN and RIPLEY'S GAME in the fesival? It would be interesting to hear Michael Barker's takes on SPARTAN and John Malkovich's take on RIPLEY'S GAME. (I can't go tto the fest because I've some personal matter to do....)

Thanks~~~~

PS: I will be at Hong Kong international film festival. I am hoping to find time to write some report in here. (including the review of Johnnie To's ELECTION 2)
