South Park Season 10

Starts tonight. Better watch it - Chef's coming back.
I would'nt dare miss it, and neither will Tom Cruise.
I can't wait for this. I still have no idea if Isaac Hayes is in the episode or not.
It's weird...I've read in a couple of places that Isaac Hayes actually has no problem with Trey & Matt and South Park, and he didn't quit. HOWEVA...after his stroke, he's being monitored by Scientologist "reps", and they are the actual ones that issued the statement that he's quitting South Park.
It's all bullshit, he probably quit b/c of Scientology, but now retracting because no one will know who he is once he is done with SP
post #6 of 343
After my TV viewing last night, I can really use a good laugh at the expense of Scientology, Cruise, Hayes, or all three.

I'm with you on that Moltisanti, if anyone can bring me out of my gloom, it's Matt and Trey. What I'm hoping for is either an all out attack on Scientology similar to the burning they gave Paris Hilton a few years back or, better yet, a season long story line that slowly builds to Xenu getting raped by L. Ron or maybe riots breaking out over a cartoon depiction of Xenu.

Maybe Cartman can toss a grenade on Chef's lap?

Brilliant! I'm sure they can animate that in time.
it looks like they are more blaming the Super Adventure Club for chef's actions than Chef himself though...Chef just got brainwashed is all. they still like him!
Holy shit this is fucking awesome so far.
Pure genius. I love Trey and Matt.
oh man, he joined the Dark Side lol. great episode. Chef was a good guy who got corrupted by the dark side...remember the good chef!
this better be up on the internet later tonight so i can download it when i get home...either that or a nice 2am rerun
post #15 of 343
That could'nt have possibly been any better.

Darth Chef! Too fucking perfect.

That makes two nights in a row I've shed tears from watching tv, but for altogether different reasons.

I'm gonna have to watch it again in about hour.
I'm guessing they just took old sound clips of Issac Hayes from previous episodes. Whatever they did, it resulted in the brilliance of "I...want..to..stick...my..balls.in..your rectum"
A small part of me secretly hoped to hear the voice of James Earl Jones come out of Darth Chef's mouthpiece. THAT would have been genius defined. As is, it was still a brilliant episode, and a pretty good ribbing of Hayes and Scientology.
Brilliant. I only wish they would have hired James Earl Jones for Darth Chef. Now they need to get some Tom Cruise next week. Something involving lawsuits.

Yeah they had to have done that, you could hear the cuts from the very beginning. I hope he was watching it.
I mentioned this earlier, but I really do hope this batch of episodes continues the trend of bashing Scientology in one way or another. I loved that they destroyed Chef in the worst possible way while having him scream like a bitch. The most brilliant "Fuck You" I think I've ever seen.
I found it was much, much more of a "fuck you" to Scientology than to Hayes.
To quote Stan, I'll just say "Dude that was pretty F%$KED UP right there!"

but unbearably funny on so many levels. Brutal, yet hilarious. Super Adventure Club... sac... ha! The splicing of old dialog brought out some nuggets of hilarity and in the end Chef let out some nuggets of totally different variety... It was sooooo horrible, but I was enthralled.

I think they took a George Bush-like approach to the situation with Hayes; if you're not with us, than you're against us. When the SAC tempted Chef back to their side, they litterally burned the bridge between him and the rest of South Park. They did blame Scientology for what happend to Hayes, but now that he's with them, he's fair game. Also with the spliced dialogue, was that a subtle way of addressing the issue of the rumors that it wasn't Hayes that issued the press release?
Whats great, if Isacc Hayes were to suddenly come to sense, I'd love to see some sort of Return of the Jedi parody.
I really thought the episode was more against Scientology than Isaac Hayes himself. There was a strong emphasis on remembering the good old times that were had with Chef and to not let the last phase of his life spoil everything that came before it. I liked the flashing of "This is what the Super Adventure Club actually believes".
I wish the kids would have gathered Chef's body and burned it like in Jedi. Or have the SAC go after the kids and he cuts the bridge like in Temple of Doom.

I disagree. I think they pointed out Hayes hypocrisy. It's not like Hayes just left the show because he wanted to do something else. He left because they were mean to his "religion" but he was apparently totally cool with the jabs at every other faith.

And that being said, they didn't suddenly piss on all the work they did with him. They just expressed their hurt with his recent actions and instead tried to focus on the good times.

As far as the episode itself, I thought it was pretty funny, especially the bit with the doll. The Darth Chef thing was pretty lame though (I was hoping that if they were going to make fun of the Episode III transformation, then they would poke fun at the "Noooooooo!")

That would've been just like shooting fish in a barrel. It was'nt really intended to make fun of ROTS anyway, it was just a perfect pop culture analogy for the path that Issac has chosen in his life.
I don't think the episode as a whole was a fuck you to Hayes, just the death scene, which was so over the top that I wished I was in the writers room when they were brainstorming how to kill him. I do agree that they were upset by Hayes' departure and blame Scientology for his actions, I just think that the bridge burning was their way of saying "Look we're grateful for all that you've done, but if your going to quit to be with them, then fuck you" And yes, the Darth Chef was pretty weak. It would've been better had they just shown a static shot of his dead body (similar to the whale from last season).
I just watched the episode.

Absofuckinlutely brillant.....just when you think this show can't take it to another level....they dig just a little bit deeper.

"we shouldn't be mad at chef for leaving us.....we should be mad at that fruty little club for scrambling his brains"......way to stick it to Tom Cruise and Scientology.....can't wait for him to try and get this episode banned

as soon as they put Chef's remains on the table I knew where it was going.

I know Cruise was watching that episode.....I hope he was jumping up and down on his couch having a complete and total breakdown.

If you're going to beat that dead pop-culture horse, then get every drop of humor you can from it.
Just great.

Trey Parker remains the funniest man in America.
Just a tremendous half hour of comedy. The great Chef stuff has been mentioned but I was also busting up over the guy who was talking to the kids in class. Great Butters moment in there. "My Uncle Bud did that to me once!"
Pretty damned hilarious. But where were Chef's parents?

Really liked the "He lived for all eternity...untill he was hit by a train"

Can't wait for the inevitable showdown with Darth Chef.

I love Butters. AWESOMELY FUNNY EPISODE.

Fantastic episode. What a way to open the season.

I lost it when I saw "This is what the Super Adventure Club actually believes".
"I specializes in your asshole, Kyle!"

I had to watch it twice to make sure I got everything. Instant classic South Park episode.
I got a good laugh out of the return of the "DAAAAAANNCE? Anybody like a DAAAANNCE?" stripper.
God, funniest thing I have seen in a long time.
My own favorite bit: When the Head of the Super Adventure Club describes the teachings of Chrisitnaity and Buddhism and asks if their teachings are any more retarded and the kid replys : "Yeah...Lots!".
Scientology remains pretty much a sacred cow in Hollywood (you can ridicule any other religon but hands off L Ron Hubbard) and Last night Matt and Trey kicked the Sacred cow right in the balls. Great stuff.
And you have to love Darth Chef's light sabre spatula.....

As soon they said Peppermint hippo I lost it......fucking hysterical.....And the strip club DJ is a riot.....Every club has that one stripper basically screaming DAAAAAAAANNCE.....ANYONE WANT A LAPDANNNNNNCE.....they nail it dead on.
I think I chuckled once in the entire episode (when Chef sticks his face in the fat strippers chest), otherwise I didn't find any of it funny; interesting to watch, sure, just not funny. Although I did appreciate the "We shouldn't be mad at Chef for leaving..." line. Glad Matt & Trey have the right perspective.
Come on. The thing with the cop and Butters was funny.
No. Butters is probably my favorite SP character ever but that wasn't funny. And the whole thing with the cop and the doll was just too easy.

HAHA...he's molesting the doll. HAHA...Butters got molested too. Not being prudish or anything, as I can appreciate good twisted humor, but make it funny. Put some effort into the jokes.
Easy can be funny when its well executed. That was well executed.
Well this is just where you and I differ. Yeah easy can be funny, but it depends on the subject matter. If the situation is easy then yeah, just copy & paste, but when the subject matter is something as twitchy as molestation it just seems lazy to make the jokes they did. I'm not saying the situation can't be funny, but you really need to put some effort into it. When the cop started dry humping the doll I was like wtf? This is the best they can come up with?
I guess you and I differ.
Spoilers

Comparing Scientologists to pedophiles? Killing Chef by dropping him in a cavern onto a spike and then having a bear and a wildcat rip him to shreds? This episode was petty.

The soundboard Chef dialogue was funny. Otherwise, this episode was sad. Especially the Darth Vader ending. That's something that most of you would tear apart if it was forwarded to you by some anonymous Flash animator.

So, I saw on a news ticker on TV last night that Isaac Hayes had a stroke in January and is having lots of trouble with his voice lately.

I smell a devious plan cooked up by Matt, Trey and Isaac Hayes to bring some controversy to the show and increase the ratings for the new episode. Could it all have been staged?

Yeah I wondered the same thing. But if that's what it was it seems they went a little far killing off a main character just to boost ratings for one episode. I mean, what're they gonna do when he gets better? That is unless Hayes wouldn't be able to return to the show at all because of it, then yeah, that sounds exactly like Matt & Trey.

I hope he gets better because he's got a kid on the way - but if they can kill of Kenny and bring him back every episode, they can do it with Darth Chef. When he is better have the kids go out and try to save him from the evil empire. Maybe keep him in the suit. That would be kind of funny, Darth Chef in the cafeteria.
