HEIST on NBC

Premieres tonight. I hope it's good.

I really hope it is to. From what I've heard though, it's fairly bland, which is a disappointment because I really enjoyed the creators previous show Lucky (for fucks sake that show needs to hurry up and come out on DVD) and Doug Liman is one of my favorite directors, so I'm hoping I can enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah, I'd love to get Lucky on DVD. That show really should have been an hour long. Lucky's also the reason I'll be tuning into this, see if the creators can create another decent show.

So forced, unwitty dialogue and co-opting a real-life tragedy for entertainment purposes all in the first fifteen minutes. Yeah, I'm pretty done with this show.

I'm enjoying this pretty well so far. Some fairly fun dialogue.

There were some really bad performances in this show. I can't even think of a person who stood out as even okay.

Yeah, I'm done with the show too. I tuned in for half the episode, then tuned out. This could have been something. There's a lot of talent attached . I dig Doug Liman's work. I've liked Dougray Scott in everything I've seen him in and Steven Harris was great on "The Practice."

But, as said earlier, the show drops the ball when it comes to the script. The dialogue isn't witty. The cops are cliche. The female cop stealing felt forced. The crew seems too jokey and dimwitted to be competent. The first few minutes with Scott and Harris started well and the explosion was shocking visually, but it wasn't enough to maintain my interest.

It was okay. Definitely too much forced "witty" dialogue. And Shane's wife from The Shield doesn't fill out the Karen Sisco-esque role terribly well. Yeah, I also didn't like the use of the real-life tragedy for the basis of the bank robbery, but that NBC allowed the kid to get blown up surprised me.

Worst part of the show: The cliche tough chick "Lola" was wearing fingerless leather gloves. That makes her tough...in the 80's.

Should've taken Wolverine when you had the chance, Dougray.

Everything in the script seems directly lifted from better heist flicks (Ocean's Eleven, Out of Sight, etc.), not to mention that there some awful stereotypical characters and dialogue that thinks it's smarter than us present throughout.

Miss.

The part I saw was probably the worst 15 minutes of tv I've ever seen. The introduction to the crew where the chick and the old dude both punch the doofus was like something out of a script Joss Whedon wrote when he was 13.

Or yesterday, but whatever.

Goodbye HEIST

Well, that happened a lot quicker than I expected.

Heist, the stylish NBC robbery drama, has already been axed by the network, Michael Ausiello is reporting at his site (hey, Ausiello has a site? Cool.).

Come on, this was a limited-run show anyway, why not let it play out? I caught a couple of eps, and while I was bugged by Dougray Scott's accent, I thought it was a rather fun, clever show, and I certainly wanted to see what happened next. But I guess NBC needs the hour for another episode of Deal Or No Deal.

I recorded the premiere just because Liman was involved, but it was shite. I was trying to fix my paper shredder whilst watching this and it was more interesting.

I was enjoying it, actually. Even though it was a dumbed down Out of Sight/Ocean's 11, at least it offered something a little different than CSI and Law and Order crap that's on every channel now.
