THE EVIDENCE on ABC

I started assuming another rip-off of CSI: Wichita Falls, but I was pleasantly surprised.

Anybody else caught that ?

pleasantly surprised

My wife Tivo'ed it and I ended up watching it with her. I will also admit that I was pleasantly surprised, and it was much more interesting/well done than I expected. Decent charaters, acting, story, and a surprisingly semi-original style.

I'm not 100% sold on the whole "evidence" concept as I don't think you could really have solved that first mystery on the evidence alone. But it wasn't a total wash, and you could have pieced parts of it together as the show went on.

I plan on giving it another chance. And I kept hoping to see the chick from Silk Stalkings the entire time, so that alone might keep me tuning in.

I didn't catch the premiere, but it's good to see ol' Martin Landau still working.

And what ever happened to that show that Orlando Jones was supposed to do with Greg Grunberg about bounty hunters?

I liked this.

They went a little overboard with the dead wife, but we now know what is fueling the man.

I loved the freeze frame at the end... just brilliant. Also, the scene were Jones loses his finger was done well too.

Something I don't understand about the show. They show all the evidence up front, but it's in baggies at a crime lab, right? So how are you supposed to be able to figure things out yourself without seeing it in context?

You're supposed to figure things out while they are playing out. Like the finger and the cellphone... I got both of those right away.

Check your local schedule for The Evidence. Seems like ABC will be showing it on Saturday nights now starting tonight.

So... caught up with the last three episodes ABC has been showing...

Good stuff. I really love the chemistry between Jones and Estes.

I especially liked the wine bottle episode and the running storyline of it being Bishop's (Jones) birthday and how the crew celebrated it throughout the day.

I hope others have managed to keep up with this show, as it deserves some love.

BTW: The building storyline with Anita Briem crushing on Estes character should have come a little sooner. May have helped balanced out the relentless beating of the "dead wife" plot. That and more Anita Briem is always welcomed here.

I thought this show was dumped and done for good, until all of a sudden a new episdoe was recorded on my DVR a couple of weeks ago. Much like Jason, watched all three recent eps over the weekend.

I still like the show, but fear that Saturday night will not be kind. I would like to see if put back to a weeknight n the fall.

I think ABC is throwing it out there to gauge a reaction from an audience, especially with all of the reality programming out there.

Them finishing showing the episodes alone gives me a glimspe of hope.

I enjoy the show (apparently only me and you do on here), so I hope it does come back in the fall.

Sometimes I fear Landua might die mid-scene and the captain is kinda dull; but the relationship between Estes and Jones works really well. Estes dead wife sub-plot is going pretty well, and the cop flirting with him adds some of that "is it time to move on" plot which is handled pretty well here.

It took me a bit to figure out whetehr or not I liked getting all the evidenc early on, but I love how they tease when the item will show up (done best in the first ep, with the finger ring being passed back and forth between Jones and Estes, so you couldn't tell who was going to lose the finger).

I think ABC advertised the concept of this show all wrong. Everyone I talk to thinks you should be able to figure out the ending (at least once in a couple of episodes) by the evidence alone. This is the idea they got from the advertising and they're right.

That's why they stopped watching. Hence why I've been begging them to start watching it again. No dice... yet.

This weekend's episode was decent. It did end on an interesting note, with Estes showing his collection of Evidence to the other detective. She seemed rather floored at the number of things he had in the shed.
