Get ready to plan out your weeknights for the month of May because ABC finally announced the airdates for their stable of popular shows. The biggest news is that Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Lost, Boston Legal, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition will all have two-hour season finales. Now that definitely counts as a real gift for the fans of these shows. Also announced was the airdate for the much-anticipated movie based on Stephen King's novel Desperation. It will air on Thursday, May 18 at 8PM.
The dates for all the other finales:
  • Grey's Anatomy (2 hours) - Monday, 5/15 at 9PM
  • Boston Legal (2 hours) - Tuesday, 5/16 at 9PM
  • Invasion - Wednesday, 5/17 at 10PM
  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition (2 hours) - Sunday, 5/21 at 7PM
  • Desperate Housewives (2 hours) - Sunday, 5/21 at 9PM
  • Alias (2 hours) - Monday, 5/22 at 9PM
  • Lost (2 hours) - Wednesday, 5/24 at 9PM
Also of note is the season finale of America's Funniest Home Videos which has it's finale on Friday, May 19 at 9PM. This episode will mark AFHV as the longest running entertainment program in ABC history.

I love these little Lost pseudo-movies we get at the end of each season. Hope they keep it up in coming seasons.

I completely agree , but Extreme Makeover: Home Edition ?

Will there be at the very least a swimsuit segment of those twins ?

I can't even stomach 15 minutes of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition--the self-congratulatory "look at the inspirational good we're doing! Behold the goodness! We're so caring! And loving! Watch as we be good and loving and above all, inspiring!" tone of the show is enough to give someone diabetes. Can't imagine someone actually sitting through two hours of that.

They've had a number of two hour episodes already this season.

With the grander and grander their houses are becoming, they need two hours just to show you the building and reveal, alone. It seriously takes at least 30 minutes now to go through the whole house once it's complete. It's ridiculous.

ABC's been on a bent with these "feel-good" reality shows, with American Inventor and Miracle Workers (a show I'm somewhat leery about) capitalizing on EM:HE's success. That said, I'm waiting to see how the series finale of Alias will stack up. Hopefully, it'll end on a high note.

Every time I see some piece of news regarding Alias, I always have the same reaction: "Alias is still on?"

Not for a while, but it's coming back to finish off the series.

ABC just let it fall off the network schedule with plans to bring it back later on.

Ratings will suffer because of that, I'm thinking.

I know, I know, but it's been something I couldn't let go of. Season 5 has been pretty decent so far.

Season 5 of Alias has been the best year since season 2. Weird that they're having the big finale on a Monday though. ABC has really done everything possible to confuse Alias fans this year. First it's on Thursdays, then it's moved to Wednesday, then it goes on hiatus, then it comes back to Wednesday in a different time slot, then off to Monday for the finale.

On a different note, Miracle Workers and American Inventor look awful.
