I think CHUD's policy towards DVD reviews is fine. Of course I'd like more reviews from these cats, but what's being reviewed is a good cross-section. Although I have no idea why you guys get so many kid's films/shows to review.
But about Bob's comment... This could totally work for the MCP section, if it isn't already dead. I can see game companies being more reluctant to send out free copies of games to a non game-specific website. But maybe try having two different reviewers rent a game that they were curious about anyway. A five day rental or something. Then they write up the reviews, or mini reviews whatever, completely unaware of the other's thoughts on the game. Throw in a section afterwards where they agree/disagree with the other's views, and it could be good stuff
*. No cost to CHUD whatsoever and a steady stream of these could lead to you getting more games to review from the companies themselves.
Just an idea, but hey, I like videogames, second to film they've taken away all my obsessive geek time. And I enjoyed the MCP stuff.
I know this isn't a "suggest ideas for CHUD" thread, but anyway, BobClark's post got me thinking.
As to the topic at hand, sorry, can't help ya. I only lurked in the boards for about a year before I registered, and things were pretty similar to the way they are now, although, I admit, things do seem to have gotten a bit more mean-spirited. As much as some people may not like how they've changed for the worse(if that is indeed true), these are some damn fine boards you've got here in my opinion.
*Maybe that's a bit too "Ebert and Roeper/Siskel and Ebert"...
