Get over it, people - Page 4

Or a misplaced reference? Your guess is as good as mine.

To actually address the topic... this place runs pretty smooth considering (at least from a non-moderator POV). There's plenty of bickering and snarkiness and so forth but that keeps the place interesting, right? That and most of you make me laugh so keep on keepin' on.

Not entirely true.
All of this does smack of "The boards aren't as cool as they used to be." and I'll agree with that for the most part. I met a few Chewers here in person once upon a time and most of them don't post here any more. That kind of sucks. We keep in touch mind you and we always will (I hope) but their presence is missed and they are gone (for the most part) because of jagoffs that do nothing but slag people who aren't "interesting", "funny", or "logical" enough.

Gee, Cap'n Wank, who could you ever be talking about?

Not you Slater. At least you have a sense of humor.
No he doesn't.
Comparatively speaking, he does.
No, Angry Charlie is right. I really don't.

Not to perpetuate precisely what this thread is calling out against, but I said no such thing. I was making a claim about the definition of personhood, albeit in the wrong context.

Anyways, on a relevant note, I think there's plenty of good discussions to be found they're just often overwhelmed by the bullshit. But there's no way of avoiding that. There are always going to be gaps in time between the movies worth discussing, and those gaps are going to be chaotic.
Keep trying, retard-hater!

If it's more movie-talk you want, kill the 20 or so forums (including this one) that have nothing do with film discussion.

Sounds like a bad idea to me.

Seems like this thread has run its course. Shall I close it and let us move on with Nick's comments in mind?
No. But thanks for letting us know you think it's "run it's course."
And thanks for reminding me how you're still an ass.
Hilarious thread. Been gone a long while mainly because of kids and...well...the bile on these Messageboards. Good to see that nothing has changed. Guess that's what happens when you let bullies (or, rather, bully and his cronies) run rampant, but I think the original justification was that he adds 'color' and makes things 'special' around here. Too funny.

Anyway, back to occassionally hitting the front page. /cheers.

Misses Copperlocke.

I dunno, I may be the new guy, but I like it here.

Welcome back, Star Chamber.
Frank said it a while ago; you lead by example or not at all.

If you guys don't appreciate it when idiots try and be glib, then don't be glib. It doesn't matter if you think you're funnier, once you've set the standard for how you treat others, any problems you have with people meeting you on your level ring hollow. It is clear that many long-term chewers have little respect (if any) for the opinions of others, especially those they see as below them in social stature. Not all opinions are deserving of respect, but I have seen many rational ideas dismissed based primarily on who wrote them. It's a playground bully's mentality, and it's sad to see it coming out of adult males.

The best thing that came out of Nick's post is that it appears that the Sactioned Assholes aren't sanctioned. Truth is, most of them are nice if you're not in disagreement.

Or don't be a shitheel like Maus. Your dumb ass didn't get banned because you "disagreed with the assholes". It's because you were one of the worst fucking posters here, making fallacious argument after fallacious argument, and then hiding behind a razor thin veneer of Christian persecution when people tore your idiotic ramblings to shreds.
Wait, Necessiter is Maus?

Huh. I thought I recognized that shrill and constant bleat of persecution.
sigh...

Guys, I've been on the boards for over a year since then. I'm not causing any trouble. I'm just hanging out, reading threads and enjoying the boards. I even entered a story into the Skeleton Key contest. It's not that I don't have my opinions. I air them out occasionally, but I try to be productive. I just decided that CHUD was for fun. Relax. Or, to quote Mr. Nunziata, get over it.
Or you could go away again! Which would be very nice.
How does Helix find all this stuff out? I think he's really Uatu.

Well, Brad (I wish I remembered you as well as you seem to remember me.), mostly, I have to the tune of less than 200 posts in a year. I'm a little more selective these days. Like, I said, CHUD is for fun. I stop in from time to time. I think, if you look around, you'll probably find that I'm one of those predominantly "bland" posters that have been getting such great press these last few days. Like I said, I've been around for over a year and haven't initiated a single atrocity. Don't let my existence bother you too much, if you're able. No hard feelings here, for sure. See ya around.

As for how Brad knows, i assume he read the "First Commandment" thread, in which I said as much for the alert.
He would have gotten away with it if it weren't for you meddling kids.
We should leave him alone, him being such a poor, persecuted minority and all. I mean, we don't even respect his right to air his opinions on how all homosexuals, muslims, jews, hindus, buddhists, and guys named Jeff are going to burn in grim, eternal damnation! How mean can we get?!
That's sort of a micharacterization, Brad. I think my positions on more than one issue (and those positions have changed in places) may have become exxagerated in your memory. At any rate, you'll be glad to know that, no matter my personal ideology, I by and large steer clear of the religion and politics forums beyond the occasional question or benign insight. If I hadn't told you, I highly doubt you would have ever had cause to notice me.
I am named Jeff. (frowny face)
Well then enjoy the pits of Tartarus, sinner.
Sure. That's sort of what I had in mind when I said "see ya around".
And to think, Thompson wanted to close this thread.
Someone's got a case of the can't-get-over-its.
Millette is some weird sort of Internet uber-detective. But if he starts screaming "Stay out of here, California! Maus has the upper hand!" I won't ask what's in the box.
Forget it, Nordling.

It's Chud-town.
Brad totally called out Maus. Amazing. I don't pay close enough attention to the posters' habits to make such subtle distinctions.
No one called me out. In a thread on the religion forum entitled The First Commandment, I responded to an old friend and made it abundantly clear that I was maus. Millette just wandered by. Don't give him too much credit, now.

Now, if he had been really sharp, he would have noticed that I submitted a story to the Skeleton Key contest under the name Timothy Mayhall, which is a name associated with Maus in that same thread, and then accepted responsibility for it on the boards. Now, that would have been impressive, I guess.

Like I said, I'm not worried about being maus. It's been over a year and I'm pretty much keeping out of trouble. I've got no apologies for you there. I don't even remember Brad Milette in that context. You don't have to be so dramatic.

Consider the credit rescinded. Although it is amazing how ominpresent Brad is on the boards.
Yeah, he's so dreamy.
lol... didn't say it was necessarily a good thing.

It doesn't astonish me at all that Dr. Nec is Maus. You see I'm actually...*rest of message deleted by daughter*

Word of mouth spreads to other like-minded folks and a more film-oriented community grows.
I think CHUD's policy towards DVD reviews is fine. Of course I'd like more reviews from these cats, but what's being reviewed is a good cross-section. Although I have no idea why you guys get so many kid's films/shows to review.
But about Bob's comment... This could totally work for the MCP section, if it isn't already dead. I can see game companies being more reluctant to send out free copies of games to a non game-specific website. But maybe try having two different reviewers rent a game that they were curious about anyway. A five day rental or something. Then they write up the reviews, or mini reviews whatever, completely unaware of the other's thoughts on the game. Throw in a section afterwards where they agree/disagree with the other's views, and it could be good stuff*. No cost to CHUD whatsoever and a steady stream of these could lead to you getting more games to review from the companies themselves.
Just an idea, but hey, I like videogames, second to film they've taken away all my obsessive geek time. And I enjoyed the MCP stuff.

I know this isn't a "suggest ideas for CHUD" thread, but anyway, BobClark's post got me thinking.

As to the topic at hand, sorry, can't help ya. I only lurked in the boards for about a year before I registered, and things were pretty similar to the way they are now, although, I admit, things do seem to have gotten a bit more mean-spirited. As much as some people may not like how they've changed for the worse(if that is indeed true), these are some damn fine boards you've got here in my opinion.

*Maybe that's a bit too "Ebert and Roeper/Siskel and Ebert"...

Here where I stand on this issue. I come in, I say my stupidities, have a little fun, enjoy some banter with fellow CHUDites, and then I go back to work for a few more hours. I have been blindsided a few times with some pretty interesting shots, I took it, moved on. I enjoy posting, and reading, and posting some more. I am not any kind of writer in any way, so I try to keep my shit to a minimum, but I will say this: I enjoy reading every single fucking one of you f-tards posts here. We are a motley crew of deranged webheads, we all enjoy movies to some degree, and hey, we are still a community in my eyes. Like the community of people on my street. Some people I like to flap with, others, not so much, and some of em, not at all. I find that there is a great amount of character here that is found nowhere else. I post frequently at AICN (used to actually), JoBlo, DC.com and Newsarama, and this MB is the best by far. By FAR far.

How about we just embrace our differences and have some fun.
