Help needed with pdf files

Does anyone know a simple way, a freeware program, or a full functioning demo that allows text to be added on top of pdf files?

I know I could print the pdf, scan it and use paint or photoshop to do so, but it's time consuming and the results aren't great.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Why not take a screenshot, paste it into Paint or Photoshop, and use a text box to add text over it? Granted, it wouldn't be a pdf file anymore, but it would get you what you want.

If it's all text this should work. Get a copy of OpenOffice (free download)

Select the text in the PDF and copy it to the clipboard. I tried it with Acrobat Reader 7 and it seems to work.

Paste the text into OpenOffice Writer. You may have to reformat the text a bit.

OpenOffice allows you to export the file to a PDF.
