Don't know the details, but the last couple simpsons have been good, I think. We know gervais can succeed at writing with Merchant, but I''m interested to see what he brings to the table by himself.

I still remember the short clip on ricky gervais' website in which he got groening's autograph.

You guys interested, too?

Gervais should write all the Simpsons episodes from now on.

That was cute.

It's a pretty bad episode, unless you're one of those people who "get" RG's attempts at humor.

It does use that "live action" intro, which was the best thing about the episode.

You can dress up a pig in a really nice dress and it'll still be a pig. No matter how good Gervais' writing is(and i like him quite a bit) theres really nothing he can do to make the Simpsons anything more than mildly funny.
The show needs to go away now.

I enjoyed it. The series should still just end though. I miss how good it used to be.

Homer's book report on "CSI: Miami" was the highlight for me. Very, very funny.

The episode overall was nice, but not spectacular.

I thought it was hilarious. It was also the first time I've gone out of my way to watch a Simpsons episode in many, many years. They should try having guest writers more often.

They need Conan back.

As much as he bugs the fuck out of me, they need Dave Mirkin back.

Among Others.

Tonights episode was pretty good. The Selma stuff at the end was the highlite for me.

For some reason my TiVo only recorded the first 15 minutes of it, but I actually chuckled slightly when Lisa got put into that American Idol cage. That was the only time I could manage a laugh, though.

Ditto on the CSI: Miami joke. "Then when I woke up, Letterman was interviewing Alias."

I also liked the Lady Di song--very "Free Love on the Free Love Freeway."

The episode itself was passable. The visit to the Fox lot was way too 'meta.'

They need Bleeding Gums Murphy back.

The last few episodes have been pretty damn funny. Suprisingly, this episode--which I was really looking forward to--has proven to be the weakest (in my opinion). The best parts of Ricky Gervais' involvement were the scenes in which he was basically playing himself... although Homer's book report was excellent. Call me an apologist, but I'll miss this show when it's over. It's visual comfort food for me.

This show needs Ernest Borgnine back.
