Hey all, was wondering if the series has been released to DVD yet? I know here in the states I have not seen it at all, only on ebay (the fake ones).

Edited after realizing you were talking about the TV series. My bad.

Nope, it hasn't.

I had no idea it was a TV series. Like, with Jason and everything?

No relation to the horror movie franchise that I was ever able to divine.

It was basically an anthology horror show about an antique store owner and his two sidekicks who had to track down "cursed" items that had been sold out of the store before the shop came into our protagonists' possession. Kind of like The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo meets Hardcastle and McCormick.

It was alright, I guess.

It didn't have Jason, but it was certainly descended from the movie franchise.

Was it really? (I'm not really a big horror fan, but I've seen bits of Friday the 13th movies over the years). Was there some link to the story line of the films in the tv show (place names or references to characters the show had in common), or even writers/film-makers the two projects had in common??

They seemed totally dissimilar to me. Please elaborate on your above post, as I'm kind of curious now.

It was created by Frank Mancuso, Jr, who produced F13 parts 2 - 8. Allegedly, the final episode would have featured Jason's mask, although I think it's just a rumour.

Here. Note the font.

That was actually the whole point of the show. When you have a storyline wherein a guy obsesses about a woman throughout one of the ep. only to physically "become" her at the end of it, well then, you've definitely strayed far, far away from the woods of Camp Crystal Lake.

I thought it was alright back in it's time, but I bet these would seem pretty weak now.

Well you learn something new everyday. Thanks for the elucidation. I like the idea of the mask being an item that had passed through the store. Too bad they never did that, as it's a pretty narratively satisfying idea.

Yeah, it definitely spun out of the movie franchise. It also coincided with the Nightmare on Elm Street anthology series, "Freddy's Nightmares" (which I think is about to get a DVD release). Alas, it was yet another TV show that scarred me as a child... something to do with a child's playhouse that had been sold by the antique shop and it would do anything the kids wanted it to do (like a evil and demented--well, eviler and more demented--version of PeeWee's Playhouse) so long as they kept feeding it people.
