Going to Yankee Stadium for the first time

Me and four buddies are heading up to New York for a Yankees-A's game in early June. It will be our first time to Yankee Stadium, though we have been to New York City a couple times. Does anyone have any tips for the game day experience, such as decent bars/restaurants near the stadium, etc. Also outside of the game itself and monument park, are there any must-see or do things in the stadium itself. We're all big baseball fans, so this is obviously a trip we've been looking forward to.

Also, we're staying at a place called Hotel Belleclaire on the upper west side in Manhattan. Anyone stayed there/know any details on it? I know tghey remodeled in 2004, so information after that time may be best.

Yes wear a Boston Redsox cap.

Great stadium enjoy it. I saw the first game of the 2003 World Series there and it was awesome.

If you could see to it to take out a yank or two, this O's fan would appreciate it. Beyond that, grab a Nathan's Famous, they're tastey.

You could try Sin City Gentlemen's Cabaret. It's not too far from Yankee Stadium, and some of the players hang there after the game....so I've heard.

The surrounding area of Yankee Stadium is pretty much crap. You have a couple of sports bars around the stadium, but nothing great. Best bet is to eat in Manhattan or just settle in for some Ballpark Franks and a Pretzel at the Stadium. The franks are actually quite good.

There is not much to do other than the Monument Park, but take the time to just sit and soak in the atmosphere - the organ playing, the fans, and just enjoy the fact that you are inside the stadium. I have been to over 25 games in my life and it never gets old for me.

Be prepared- traffic is utterly shitty around that area. One of the reasons they're angling for a new stadium is because that area is impossible to navigate while busy. Another reason is that the stadium is pretty beat up- seating is unclean and uncomfortable.

Still, coming form a Mets fan (with our own shitty stadium), the atmosphere is worth it, particularly because it adds to NY fans being ornery.
