I was very excited to see the American Reunion movie. I saw American Pie just after college and remembered it was quite funny.
Jim, Michelle, Oz, Heather, Stifler reunite for their high school...
I feel so special, Grant Grant replied to a message on myspace. I need to see this again, like right now. Showtimes dwindling, I wonder if it will still be playing in town tomorrow, or be in that limbo between first and second run.
Proud to say I did my part, seeing it a third time with my 14 year old cousin. There were some kids in the back that definitely shouldn't have been there, and while they were obnoxious, like many in the 15-17 age bracket, they were genuinely scared, screaming at the top of their lungs every five minutes. It was great.
Finally saw it today with my brother. Whatta hoot! We laughed & squirmed all the way through! Perfect matinee flick...
the only unfortunate thing/s:
I had to hunt down a place that it was still playing during the day in the Orlando area (1/2 hour away= oh well) & the theater was nearly empty save 1 or 2 other people... I can't believe the movie bombed as much as it did... it's a travesty! I recommend to anyone that's a fan of horror/comedy or creature features. Most fun I had at the theater since Zathura (diff reasons of course)...
Yeah, it's already in the dollar movies down here in south texas. The movie was in the first run for only 2 weeks! That fucking sucks. This is a great movie.
I honestly believe that the slug thing hurt the film. I think that a lot of people are grossed out by that sort of thing and opted not to go. It seems that a lot of people just don't like to see gross things, which doesn't explain how Sandra Bernhardt got to be famous.
Yeah, I agree. I know I wouldn't have seen the movie if I hadn't basically been dragged by a few friends. All I knew about the movie is that it had a bunch of worms wiggling around, which isn't something that would get me opening my wallet to see.
Mentioned this to Rippoll on Facebook, but this is the rare film that succeeds BOTH as an homage to the horror films that preceeded it AND on its own terms. It's so good, so funny.
For whatever reason, I've found this is an incredibly difficult movie to get people to watch. They'll look at the DVD box and instantly dismiss it. "This looks terrible." If I can manage to get them to the cheesy menu, there is more complaining. It's an uphill battle.
That said, everyone I've shown this to has dug it(something like 15 people).
It's such a small thing, but I was blown away by the fact that the two little girls didn't get out of the house without getting violated and infected. That was the moment where it went from parody/horror to full blown, no fucking around, horror.
So many terrific gross-outs too. I know we're not supposed to speculate on what's coming next with the CHUD lists, but the brief shots of alien jizz pouring out of Fillion's abdominal wounds at the end wouldn't be out of place on the "Bodily Function Junction" list.
