I can't believe they are just toasting the franchise with people who aren't capable of making a GREAT movie. Terminator shouldn't HAVE to settle at being "good" when it has been GREAT before.

Wait, maybe the writers of Catwoman are due for a hit.

And Ilan Mitchell-Smith should be cast as the Terminator.

When I heard the same writers of "Catwoman" were working on T4, I was worried too, but they also wrote T3, which was much better than it had any right to be. Sure, the structure was a T2 redux, but I really enjoyed the new revelations, the ending, and felt that the characters were three dimensional and well acted.

I hope that someone realizes that Arnold is not necessary for this to be a successful film. I'd heard rumors way back that if Arnold couldn't or wouldn't do it, they were going after the Rock, which would just kill the franchise for me.

Originally T3 was supposed to be the first part in a new trilogy which, I assume, would end with Reese and the original Terminator sent back in time.

All this movie needs again is the actors from T3 (Nick Stahl was a worthy John Connor) and the original robots. If they decided to end the series with 4, then Arnold would only be needed for a cameo. It'd be great to see him with shaggy 80's hair like the first one.

Fuck that, get Michael Biehn to play all grown up leader of the future John Connor. Reese was his father after all.

t2 kinda sucked and t3 was dreadful. i hope they just let this thing die already.

Meh...pass. But if Michael Biehn is in it....maybe.

And why's that? I thought the point of the Terminator franchise was to show you don't need to be able to act, walk, or even talk to become a successful film star as long as you play a robot or a character that is a lot like one. Don't think the Rock could do that? After all, the robots only look a certain way because of the person they modeled it from. Which makes it very easy for them to change that around.

I'd hate the Rock to be in the film because it'd merely be a marketing move that is unnecessary. I don't believe people go to see the Terminator films because of Arnold. If the films are set in the future, the exoskeleton is what people want to see, not multiple Schwarzenegger's.

If there is a T4, the terminators should be mostly exoskeletons. The machines wipe out most of the human race on Judgment Day, so there's no need for clever disguises. They can do battle in the open. Only a few terminators should be cyborgs to infiltrate human bases and they don't have to look like Arnold. The one glimpse you get of a cyborg in the original was mostly cast in shadows with just the dogs barking and one red eye showing what it was. It was subtle and effective, a shot that sticks with you, and it's all that's needed for the next one.

A pointless sequel, wavering in BASIC INSTINCT 2-pointless territory.

Yep. Not sure why you're asking, not unless you're saying TERMINATOR 3 was just as pointless. The third film was far from great, but I found it tolerable and the action was satisfactory. And I love Claire Danes. That said, the third entry just makes my sentiment even stronger that another entry would be a waste of celluloid. I don't think the series needs any more sequels watering the premise and these characters down from what was developed in Cameron's two flicks.
