Also featured in that episode was one Jim Goodwin as Lt. John Farrell (seen here rocking a sweet-ass 23rd-century Bluetooth), who immediately reminded me of a comedic character actor working today who I just can't put my finger on for the life of me. He's been around since the '90s, maybe earlier, he's a little bug-eyed and has a high (possibly receding) hairline. I don't remember him having any big roles, maybe a few lines in a scene or two. He may have had some movie appearances (a Todd Phillips movie? an Adam McKay movie?), but I've probably mainly seen him on TV, maybe Arrested Development or 30 Rock or Late Night-era Conan. And I feel like I've seen him as a funny hillbilly or funny farmer or funny otherwise-rural character at some point, wearing a baseball cap and a plaid shirt and driving a pickup, maybe? So that's my look-alike challenge to you, Chewers. Does Mr. Goodwin here remind you of anyone fitting any of that description? The winner will be paid in rep.
BOYD BANKS !!!
My thanks go out to John Matrix for posting a video of Mr. Banks over in the "Minor Characters Who Deserve Spin-Offs" thread, from which I recognized the minor-Star-Trek-crewman look-alike who has bedeviled my days and haunted my dreams lo these many months. It's weird, because I've seen stuff he's been in, like The Fountain, Lars and the Real Girl, and some SNL movies, but the only thing I now actually remember him being in is the 2004 Dawn of the Dead (he's the truck driver, and he does indeed wear a baseball cap and look a bit redneckish). But, according to IMDb, no Todd Phillips or Adam McKay movies, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, or Late Night; I don't know why I thought of those.
Whew, I'm glad we finally got that sorted out. Our long national nightmare is over.
