Saved By The Bell on....Adult Swim???

I believe I speak for all mankind when I ask "What the fuck?"

Information, someone? Is this actually happening? Is it a parody, in the same vein as the Yogi Bear show that's been airing recently? Are the 80s threatening to assimilate all life on Earth?
You're right.

It's far too good for Adult Swim.
Most of Saved by the Bell's distinguished run was in the 90s.
Yeah, as long as they don't run any of that Hayley Mills shit I don't see the harm.

Caffeine pill addiction, here I come!
Lay off Jesse and her caffeine pill problem. She was under a lot of stress! She had to get into Stanford dammit!
I don't care if I saw each episode five times over on TBS and WGN, I'm excited about this. Each time the audience goes "Oooooooooooooh" when Slater and Jessie have a battle of the wits my heart swells with joy.

"You men are such pigs."
"Well then oink oink baby"

Mario Lopez was in top form.

I looked at both the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim websites and saw no mention of that horrible show. Could you please elaborate?
They've been advertising that it'll start April 17th, but don't say at what time. The ads emphasize the kitchy dayglow fashions/culture of the late 80's or early 90's, whenever it started.

Could be funny to laugh at an old silly show, but it's not a cartoon, so I'm a bit peeved about this.

Although it's appropriate, because it's one of the shows that signaled the demise of Saturday morning cartoons. Anyway I could never stand to watch it. As if primetime sitcoms aren't bad enough.
I guess I'm just getting old and cranky, but has it been long enough for this show to go from being shit to kitschy shit? Yes, I saw the ads tonight.
I'm not amused.
The only decent original show on Adult Swim these days is Venture Bros., anyway. So it's not like Saved By the Bell is going to be wedging out too much "esteemed company".
It would be great if they did an update to the show. I mean, I don't really think any of the actors on that show made it into anything big.

Screech could be a billionaire software tycoon.

Lisa could be his unhappy, pill popping trophy wife.

Slater could be a nighttime security guard who beats his wife because he blew out his knee in college and never made anything of himself.

Zach would be a struggling actor who does porn to pay the rent.

Kelly would meet up with Zach (after being apart many years) on said porn set.

And finally, "My name is Jessie, and I'm a bounty hunter."

Now that, I would watch....

Don't know if The Boondocks counts as original since it's based on the strip, but along with the Venture Bros., those are my two favorites on Adult Swim right now.

Can't wait for the new VB eps.

yeah this is pretty fucked up....I can't see how this is gonna work....either they are gonna make this the greatest thing ever.....or it will be the end of Adult swim....I for one can't figure out what the hell they are thinking.
I love how the adult swim guys are really doing whatever the hell they want with their programming and all of us old fans are really backlashing against it all...yet their ratings continue to be massive.

I for one, love ATHF (anxiously await the movie), I love VB (who doesnt), I love Robot Chicken (although it seems like 50% of the ppl out there dont), but everything else has fallen a bit flat for me.

Minoriteam is alright, but the animation really annoys me.

I find the idea of saved by the bell airing awesome.

Also, if you guys need a t-shirt try this
post #17 of 125
According to one of their bumps this is going to be a two week experiment. I still don't get it.
An experiment to see how much of their audience can actually tell the difference between animation and live action?
I guess this is inevitable. Scores of kids ten years younger than me sitting around watching things like Saved by the Bell and Walker, Texas Ranger getting stoned the same way I used to watch CHIPS and Kotter reruns for some pot fuelled glimpse into the glory days of childhood. It's a vicious cycle.

The Boondocks is still a mixed bag, but when its on point, it's great. Venture Brothers is unquestionably awesome. I still love Robot Chicken. They show Ghost In The Shell SAC (albeit at an ungodly hour), so, that counts. And, of course, no matter what happens, for providing sanctuary to Futurama, the network will have my undying respect.

I just really don't get where Saved by the Bell fits into all this. Considering the last few original shows the networks put out are miserable pieces of shit, I'm hoping this isn't a signal the downward spiral has begun.

Is Baba audtioning to joing Singer and BobClark in the old fart society?

Didn't they also pull the last few episodes of Justice League?
Maybe they'll put a filter over the entire episode... like those financial cellshaded ads that I see all the time.
Maybe they'll put in fart noises or mustaches like in their April Fools' shows.

Either way, it was a horrible show, and it's a horrible idea to put this on Adult Swim. For every good thing they do, they seem to be doing at least 3-4 really bad things to compensate.
BOONDOCKS is flat-out boring. Venture Brothers, Futurama, Aqua Teen and occasionally Harvey Birdman are the only shows worth any sort of attention.

SAVED BY THE BELL would just continue their recent run of crummy new material.

I am so glad I missed this show entirely.
Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to watch the very special episode of Family Ties where Alex gets hooked on caffeine pills.
The one where Tom Hanks pops Alex in the mouth is better.
Was that the one where he had a drinking problem?
Those were the days for Tom Hanks: drinking problems, wearing a dress, wandering around town thinking he's a D&D character...ah, he'll never recapture that.
"Sob! Sob! What have I done? I hit Alex!"
"You get the hell out of my house."

Powerful stuff from Hanks and Gross.
Don't forget Hanks challenging the Fonz to a fight and then getting kicked through a window.
I must have missed that very special episode.
Don't feel bad. It was during the Ted McGinley era.
Ah, yes. Even the cast's immediate families had stopped watching by that point.
That was back when “Happy Days” and “Love Boat” caused the world to hate Ted McGinley. But after REVENGE OF THE NERDS and “Married with Children” he was able to get rid of that stench. I don’t know how crappy he’s become since being on that sitcom with Regis’ annoying co-host who I would still bone with crazed abandon.

And Major League: Back to the Minors.

Challenge round for the next few posters: see if you can bring the subject from here back to Saved By The Bell in six steps or less. It's fun and educational!
What do you mean? This is just another Saved by the Bell to Family Ties to Tom Hanks to Happy Days to Ted McGinley to me boning Kelly Ripa to MAJOR LEAGUE: BACK TO THE MINORS type thread that crops up about once a month.
I'm gonna join in by being stunned at the retro popularity of "Saved By The Bell", a show that was eternally light years from being cool, ironically or otherwise.

Although Vince Vaughn complaining about Screech getting into the club before him in "Made" was amusing.
Maybe it was a West Coast thing. I’m sure I speak for everyone who went to High School in California when I declare “Saved by the Bell” the most accurate depiction of High School ever. Perhaps back east all the schools had that dreary “My So Called Life” stank.
i'm 21 and i can honestly say i've never met anyone my age, through high school and now in college, that didnt love saved by the bell and have about every single episode memorized.

I went to an all-male Catholic private school. Only Oz has come close to capturing that shit.
Thanks for proving my point. Ten years younger. Loves the Saved by the Bell.

I at least know this piece of trivia for Moltisanti: The show in the first couple of episodes, I don't know, maybe a full season was set in Indiana.
Yeah, but that had to be that Junior High “Ms. Bliss” garbage that I mentioned earlier. Bayside High was Cali through and through. Didn’t they also work at some resort for summer vacation one year? Sometimes I get my fantasies and reality mixed up.

Bayside football rules!
Yeah, they worked at the beach resort run by the guy who voiced Nathan Lane's life partner in THE LION KING and Zach boned the King of Queens' wife.

I'm 21, and I've been of the opinion that Saved By the Bell is one of the worst excuses for a sitcom in the last 20 years. I hated it when it came on Saturday mornings, and I hate it now.

Next topic for discussion: Blossom. Would you hit that shit?
Awesome, Blossom.
I still cry when Zack Morris dies in the end.
