Rube Goldberg would be proud.

That was really cool. It reminded of the PC game- Return of the Incredible Machine Contraptions.

Some of those things are absolutely epic. There's something unbelievably cool about wasting time on that kind of scale. Beats the hell out of those domino exhibitions.

Pretty great little series of contraptions. I'm reminded of that really spectacular Dodge(?) commercial from a few years back, where all the pieces of the vehicle's engine are arranged in a really amazing configuration.

I think that was Honda, but yeah, same thing.

Yeah, I think you're right. I thought it was for the Dodge Caravan when I wrote that post, but I think I'm mistaken.

I enjoyed that. Galileo would giggle like a schoolgirl if he was around to see that.

They call the commercial "Cog", and here's a google video for those interested.

The contraptions shown in the link this thread was started for, however, are quite fantastic in their own right. My favorite was probably the one that begins with a horseshoe magnet ~8 minutes into it. Great stuff, but I had to turn the volume off due to the annoyance of the jingle.

are you kidding, that was one of the best parts: ee ta co na seee T.

So what were those clips exactly? They seem like bumpers to a TV show or something, with the device always revealing a logo at the end, and the little jingle. Does anybody know what this is from?

Maybe it's from a 3-2-1 Contact! type show in Japan. Some of those traps are amazing.

My sister speaks Japanese, so I fired it off to her for a translation (and because she's an engineer and would think it's neat). I'll let you know when I get an answer.
