The 501st and other Star Wars reenactors

After telling everyone and their grandma about the 501st Imperial Reenactors' local garrison marching in the Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade, I finally had the pictures scanned and put online. Most of my shots were from the roof of a dilapidated house but I had to get up close for these. Laugh at the ludicrousness of stormtroopers marching in a legitimate parade, or criticize the amateurishness of my photography (I'm easily the worst in my class):

This shot is easily my favorite.

Note the Dark Jedi girl from the Clone Wars cartoons walking around, and the DarkTrooper. Quite a variety of Imps showed up.

The glory of not paying attention to the light meter.

I could tell that officer practiced the "pull glove like you're about to jam your fist up someone" pose often.

Does anyone else have any cool or humorous pics of local Star Wars fanatics doing their thing? And I'm not talking about the half-assed convention losers, I mean the people who go the extra mile and could show up at the Episode III showings and actually look cool.

It's mildly related, but I have pictures of me and my fiancee dressed as Anakin and Padme from New Year 05. I can't say it's cool, as I look like an incredible nerd, but hey, I am a SW fan.

I remember opening night of Attack of the Clones at the Universal Cineplex here in Orlando. They had a contingent of reenactors out there -- stormtroopers, Jedi, Boba Fett, a few Amidalas, and a Vader. Well, there's a Quiet Flight surf shop next to the theater, with a fake wave and surfboard out in front of it. And I actually talked the Vader guy into posing on the surfboard ... but the flash on my camera didn't work and all you can see is this indistinct black blob standing on a surfboard. Would have been the greatest photo ever if I'd been paying attention.

My buddy proposed to his wife at a Halloween party where they were doing the Han and Leia thing - there ARE pictures, but I don't have one at the ready.

My sister and I were Wolverine and Rogue once, I'll see if I can dig up some pic.

I thought they didn't let gays march in these.

cool pics, though they kind of filled me with the same feeling I had after learning gwb was back in office, dread. only because of the nazi type of marching, I imagine republicans practice with each other in case the day comes when they take over the world

I think the most important thing we've learned from this is that Charlie is engaged to Meg White.

They like guys in uniform.

Re-enactors? Fans, fine. Costumes and conventions, whatever. But re-enactments? Of space battles? This implies a level of seriousness that makes me giggle dismissively. But eh, more power to 'em I guess.

"Aren't you a little gay for a Stormtrooper?"

You haven't quite lost hope until you've seen the 501st's Officer List.

"Pete, I FUCKIN' got you! If you wanna play lazer tag with me you're gonna play it RIGHT."

Last post ever again, poopoodle?
And to the hypocrisy we can now add holier-than-thou self-righteousness. I promise that this will be my last post telling poopoodle to fuck off, ever.

There's a difference between mocking people dressed up for a celebration such as NYE, and people who spend most of their waking life dressed as Admiral Piett. I don't mind the 501st, as I know they do a hell of a lot for charity, but they're kind of leaving themselves open posting things like that. Hell, I've done it before with a Wolverine picture I posted, and I was mocked left, right and centre, but I expected it, because at the end of the day, I was a fat nerd pretending to be Wolverine.

This has gotta be a first. A moron getting all pissy that we're NOT making fun of somebody.

Last post ever?
Yes, and I see you bawling and crying that we're not making fun of Charlie.

Was that your last post ever? Please stop teasing us.

Actually, it's just because you're a big fucking idiot, but thanks for playing the martyr. It's cute.

Last post ever?

It's hard to deny the coolness of Stormtrooper uniforms, but equally hard to imagine circumstances under which Joe Average might wear one without looking extremely geeky.

The 501st should all get latrine duty for a month. That hardly looks like precision marching. What a sloppy outfit. And where's the fife and drum corps?
