Who should it be? No fair consulting the playoffs...

KOBE BRYANT- Won the scoring title and single-handedly brought the team to the postseason. Arguably made better players out of Kwame Brown (something Michael Jordan couldn't do) and Lamar Odom. Spent the year confrontation-free.

STEVE NASH- Statistically was even better than last year, as he carried a Suns team without any interior presence to a 52 win season.

LEBRON JAMES- Took the Cavs to the playoffs and was the closest thing to a nightly triple double in the league.

DIRK NOWITSKI- Enjoyed his best professional season as he finally took sole leadership reigns of the Mavericks, leading them to sixty wins.

SHAWN MARION- Spent the year swinging between small and power forward, and succeeded in both positions admirably. His best season.

CHAUNCEY BILLUPS- Led the Pistons to the league's best record, putting together his best statistical season.

Any others?

Nash all the way. I'm convinced that guy is a machine.

I'd give it to Nash. I don't know if they would want to give it to to same guy two times in a row.

Give it to Ron Artest I say (ducks eggs) Hey, Sacramento was going NOWHERE before he came along.

come on where's the wade love? he should be on the short list atleast.

first things first, i hate kobe bryant while steve nash is a canadian icon (whom i'm bias towards). even with this if someone says steve nash is the mvp over kobe i'd say they're on fucking crack. it's like voting stockton over jordan. please. kobe did things no one has done since jordan left the game. there were games late in the season where nash was getting totally dominated. billups whooped him all around the court in detroit and shaun livingston, yes shaun livingston, looked like jason kidd of 5 years ago.

fabfunk, nice cheap shot on a 40 year old washed up michael jordan. or was it trying to make kobe look really, really good? by the way kwame still eats ass.

I'd like to see it given to Nash but its Kobe. No player means more to his team on the offensive end. If Duncan had stayed healthy he could have had it this year.

Dirk, Nash and Marion have to step it up to another level on the defensive end to win it in my mind.

Whats hilarious is I really don't think Jordan or Kobe make players better around them. They simply just take over shooting wise. They pass the ball here and there but it isn't the same as Nash or Magic.

I also voted for Kobe. This has been his year. When you look back at the 2005-2006 season Kobe will be the player you remember. From out-scoring a very good Dallas team through 3 quarters by himself to dropping 81 on the Raptors in a game the Lakers were losing to carrying a shitty team into the playoffs.

As far as Kobe or MJ making players around them better, I think it's moreso that the other players are intimidated by them and are afraid to fuck up. That and Phil Jackson can get his scrubs to bust their asses to make the superstar look better.

Honestly anyone scoring a ton of points on the Mavs or Raptors means jackshit to me. Anyone can do that. Kobe leaves his heart on the floor every night and works his ass off. He's a consistant force. Thats what I remember this season.

If only he had a Scottie Pippen, Horace Grant or Dennis Rodman who played beside him.

Lamar Odom is about 1 season away from tanking his career.

Nash winning is stupid. I love the guy, but he's got Marion and Diaw on his squad. what's the quote i read earlier today - 'he plays on one team, is ripped nationally for being soft, then plays on another team the exact same way and is back-to-back MVP?' that makes no sense. These Suns are just the '02-04 Mavs. Dirk is MVP easy.

Kobe got robbed. But it sure was fun watching him slam Nash onto his ass last night. Fuck the Suns! Go Kobe! (and the Lakers).
