Neville blows up Washington Square Park.

Yeah, this movie is going to be a total fucking abortion.

Edit: I fucking hate Will Smith with nearly every fiber of my being.
Some how I'm hoping half-way through the movie, he learns it has spread out into the rest of the country and he is fucked. But that's just wishful thinking.

I think they were shooting this a block away from my house today.

On the way to the subway there's mad people around, crawling all over a fire truck and setting up lights and cameras. There was a bunch of actor's chairs sitting around- one said Will.... so...

Didn't look postapocalyptic though- unless they were still setting it up. Still, it'll be funny to seee if this is in the film, cause they were shooting in front of one of my favorite restaurants.

Not a horrible poster, but really doesn't do much to convey the whole "Last man on earth" concept. Maybe if they'd had him standing in a weed-overridden Times Square it would've worked better. As it is, it looks less apocolyptic and more like a Gap ad.

Yeah, exactly.

Plus- this cracks me up-

You're a better man than I. The voices in my head love puns.

Gotta agree with this.

Will Smith's "Serious Thespian" face.

I'm not so sure it's a serious face- it's more like the face of a kid who put his quarters on the Street Fighter machine for the next match but then gets pushed aside by an older kid who cheeses with Blanka.

Whoops. Just got a heads up from Ryan Rotten that these are fake. No wonder.

I hope this movie is good... I wish that old rumor of Johnny Depp being in it was true. I do think the director is pretty talented.

i see nothing wrong with an update/reimagining of the matheson novel, which i love... i like the idea of turning it into an action movie. but then again, i've read the shooting draft and see that it's well written and it captures neville pretty damn well.
I guess I agree; what could be a better action flick than fighting an endless army of vampires? But Will Smith as the protagonist? Unless he's bustin' out chops we haven't seen yet, I just can't get my mind around him as the dark, troubled last man on earth. And I LIKE Will Smith. But his sense of humor that he brings to most of his roles (Men in Black, Independence Day, for example) would be wildly out of place here. I just hope they keep it in check. But since when has Hollywood ever tried to please us fanboys? I'm not too optimistic.

I agree, and who knows, it could turn out to be a fun action flick, but I think what annoys most people (me included) is that there hasn't really been a great translation of the book to screen yet. Vincent Price was the closest, but he's hardly believable as the handyman/rough motherfucker that he is in the book.
I was unaware Vinny had tackled this role. All things considered, I can see Will Smith doing it better than Vincent Price any day.

Yep- The Last Man on Earth.

It's great, but there were a couple weird changes to the story- like putting Price in the role. They also changed his named to Morgan for some reason, which gets amusing when all the vampires are smashing on the doors screaming "MOOOOORGGAN!!" over and over.

Still a better adaptation than The Omega Man, though.
I think 'The Last Man on Earth" is one of the movies in that 200 movie extravaganza I got for Christmas. Now I have a reason to jump right to it.
I have grave doubts about this film.I'm sure it'll make a ton of money thanx to teen moviegoers and the curious filmgoer like moi.

From yahoo.com

Quote:
Nighttime. Post-apocalypse. As a life-warping illness devastates the American populace, survivors gather at a pier by the Brooklyn Bridge, desperate to be evacuated.

It is a central moment in Warner Bros.' December release "I Am Legend," a $150 million-plus sci-fi actioner starring Will Smith. But as impressive a nail-biter as this particular scene will surely be, its drama is rivaled by that of the process of mounting and shooting it on six successive nights in January.

...

The bridge scene is likely the most expensive shot in the city to date (in the completed film, it will serve as a flashback) in what the Mayor's Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting is calling the biggest movie to be filmed "start to finish" in New York.
That's interesting it's getting a December release. Thanks for that article. I wonder when we'll get a trailer.

I'm still trying to figure out (after years of pondering) how one of my least favorite celebrities got cast in an adaptation of one of my favorite books.
I know how you feel. . . I'm still coming to terms with Molly Ringwald getting cast in "The Stand".

I would've liked it a lot more if the tagline hadn't been so overpowering. As is, it seems like a leftover poster from the mid-90s.
is that poster for real? man, are they out of ideas or what.

i know there's way more than just those. i do like the tagline, but it is a bit overpowering. just a bit.
The poster is crap. Like, early Michael Bay crap.

So, the trailer is due when exactly ?

(and 555, how about using some CAPITAL LETTERS when appropriate ?)

Lawrence did some good stuff with Constantine, and if nothing else it'll look good. But it's the script that will count with this film, and unfortunately Goldsman does not inspire confidence. What with Batman & Robin, I, Robot, A Beautiful Mind and all, I don't think he's ever been involved in a film which has lived up to its potential.

I'm not getting my hopes up. And that poster is SHIT on a stick.

Absolutely. MGM has the best transfer of it on a $10 dvd. I saw this when I was five and fever-ridden on my grandma's couch. The weird dubbing (everyone except Price is Italian) and the blind little girl under the mosquito net creeped me the hell out.
What an incredibly boring poster. Nice job marketing department.
You know, WE know what this is gonna be about because we're all fans of the book. The average illiterate movie goer won't, and this poster gives them NO CLUE what it's about. Kind of like "Babel" didn't. Did any commercial or trailer give you even the slightest idea what that film was about? No wonder it did so terribly in the theatres; who the hell's gonna fork over $10.00 a ticket to see some film hat they haven't got the slighest clue about? Unless there's stunning marketing to follow, I see the same thing happening here, regardless of how good the film actually is.

It does look good. I only hope they kept the ending from the book in some form and didn't make some bullshit hollywood happy one.
I'm glad they didn't show the freaks yet. It looks like they're keeping the Will Smithisms to a minimum in this one. Should be good.
(In Will Smith voice) Now that's what I call a trailer!

Loved the scene of him driving the Mustang through the deserted streets. I could almost hear the main theme of The Omega Man. My anticipation for this flick has just moved up a notch.

What's this about Neville being a brilliant scientist? The fact that Neville was an everyman, struggling to understand what was happening and training himself as time went on, was one of the most compelling parts of the original story.

Neville (Morgan- Vincent Price's character) was a scientist in Last Man on Earth. It's one of the reasons the movie didn't work as well as it should, just because prissy Vincent Price couldn't be an everyman, ever. Kinda lame to see that happening again.

Spoiler, bro. Give a warning... not everyone's read the book, as horrible as that is to say.

But I agree, if it doesn't end the same way the title of the movie won't even make any sense.
Well, it's Hollywood... so put 2 and 2 together. It's starring Will Smith, that's really all you need to know.
There blacked out the spoiler, stupid mistake on my part.
