EMPIRE strikes back - Page 3

back to Empire

Empire is in my top 5 movies of all time, I would sell my soul for the Norwegian crew snow suit, I use a vintage 1980 sleeping bag as a blanket, the only Star Sars shirt I own is the sagw continues poster shirt with Han kissing Liea over Luke on a taum taum.

And I must say the Empire SE doesnt piss me of as much as Jedi or ANH. Also that Lucas let Kirsh do the commentary warms the cockles of my heart. And the fact he thought about doing Jedi makes me dream way too much of what could of been.

I also second that Empire, is the best work of Harrison Ford's career, the nuance in every scene with Leia is just brilliant, and particulary noticeable when one runs an OT marathon in one day.

Jedi does suffer from this type of Marathon, but some better things are more apprent one the opening act I think gets slighty better, han being frozen is still fresh in your mind and it just feels right, unfornetly harrison is still asleep after bing unfrozen and things get worse after that. The puppetry never gets mention here but its all excellent, of course the dreadful new song they inserted in the SE needs to go pronto.

I was always in awe of the speeder bike chase, until after the Incredibles, now I skip past it to get to the jump to hyperspace. Actually I must admit Star Tours is a better overall experiance than Jedi.

Back to Empire the The Rebel Fleet, best John Williams piece before the end credits, the way the theme even up to crescendo has this slight feeling of melancholy and doubt, just awe inspiring.

I'm not too surprised at this news, really. Wasn't there rumblings somewhere in the massive Episode III thread that Lucasfilm was considering releasing the uncut films after the final film came out? Albeit, the rumors then were about having a "Archival Edition"--a box set with all 6 films included. Either way, I'd happily snatch this up, if only we can get some confirmation.

FYI, the Archival editions are/were something different - a long rumoured final edition of the films that would include final new changes to the films, some of which appeared in the 2004 DVD versions.

I guess this is all maybe due to the 2007 30th anniversary, where GL was also supposedly to be releasing the movies in 3D. Who knows though.

If this news is true, I will gladly buy them and happily never buy another Star Wars DVD product ever again.

And after I already bought the special editions. Screw this. I'm waiting for HD.

Not anymore. Deserves its own thread. Will allow for this thread to get back to the topic at hand.

Thanks guys!
Realize that this was a couple of days ago, but man, with today's news (OT on DVD), hope you didn't really do it...
